I said this today. It will be that or a black PR person or better yet Oprah. Remember Oprah put Dr Laura back on the air.
call me crazy but i would be more shocked if she said she didnt use racist words. She is an old southern white woman at one point in her life those terms were all she knew to describe black people.
This is what I said in the other thread, she's old enough to have DEFINITELY gone to segregated schools growing up, and her comments about "The jokes I know about Jews and Blacks are the funny ones!" (paraphrasing here) speaks DIRECTLY to how she was raised, her WHOLE DAM FAMILY is probably racist, but to them these types of jokes are normal, everyday dinner conversation.
Shit REALLY ain't that long ago, hell, I've mentioned before that a small town that my family lives near in NC called Scotland Neck still has a few old buildings where the lead paint has faded and you can still read "COLORED" above the back door leading into these places.
Weird enough, what's taking her down is her honesty, her own statements tell us that she herself doesn't feel as though she's done or did anything wrong, but she's just "learned" that her type of thinking isn't acceptable.
She wasn't living in a racist ass bubble all these decades.Why aren't their a gang of white people who grew up in those times talking like that in public.She knew wtf she was saying she just thought she was more important than she really was and she wouldn't get called out on it.

I saw the Jesse Owens story when it first came on TV as a kid and them having to eat food in the back with the cooks turned my stomach about being treated less than human for the rest of my LIFE.

That's the same thing Denny's did back in the 90s when the race thing blew up with their business. Every commercial had a black person in it. They hired Steve Harvey as their spokesperson. They started the $1.99 Grand Slam promotions back then.
All of that was part of their reconstructing their brand and image and trying to recover from the horrible PR that the racist accusations brought on them.
If they are smart they will jump on this opportunity and capitalize. Plenty of great top notch black cooks and chefs out there.

But when you say "in her time" thats like saying that shit ain't going on right now in 2013 which in turn excuses her behavior as old habits that were accepted in tha time she grew up in so its not 100% her fault.
When Trayvon got shot even though Zimmerman wouldn't be accepted in tha Klan their were a bunch of white people both young and old saying "well thats what he gets" so we know that mentality is still strong today and all Paula was doing was cacing out loud instead of behind closed doors.

For her to answer "Yes, of course!" tells me that she wasn't worried about her show or the money, she was in her own bubble, she's seeing that bubble burst now so now we are seeing her own, sloppy way of damage control, and the reason that it's sloppy is because in her heart she STILL feels that she did nothing wrong, and is somewhat confused as to what the fuss is all about.
NOT excusing her @ all, just delving into her line of thought is all.
