No use in arguing Kay.

People rarely changed their minds no matter how much evidence you provide to the contrary.

Just VGQ (he/she said what he/she said and I'm alright with that) and keep it moving. Anything else only promotes conflict between VORs.

Paula Deen finally went on Today this morning to discuss her infamous deposition transcription and the resulting implosion of her empire. Deen bailed on Today last week, which set off an odd chain of events that ended with the Food Network firing her.

And it was bizarre. It started off with predictable talking points: "There have been some very hurtful lies said about me," Deen told Lauer. "I'm not a racist." She also told him had she been in the Food Network's position, she'd still have a job: "Would I have fired me. Knowing me? No." Deen insisted that she had used the N-word once in her life, the incident that was cited in the deposition. Also, this: "If there's anyone out there that has never said something that they wish they could take back, please pick up that stone and throw it so hard at my head that it kills me." Highlights are below; we'll get video up as soon as possible.

On shock:
"It's nice to be here. It's hard for me to even find the word, Matt, that I was feeling, I was just overwhelmed, I was in a state of shock...because there has been some very hurtful lies said about me."

On everyone being equal: "Then let me say this, the main reason I am here today Matt is that it's important that I tell you and everyone out there how I believe and how I live my life. I believe that every creature on this world, everyone of God's creatures is created equal, no matter who you go to be with, where you pray, everyone should be created equal."

On experts:
"I am here today because I want people to know who I am, and people who have worked beside me walked beside me, know what kind of person I am. I am so distressed that people I have never heard of are experts on who I am."

On whether she'd fire herself:
"No. I'm very lucky in this aspect Matt, I'm so fortunate Matt, that so many of my partners that know who I am have decided to stand by me. QVC has not dropped me. I am so thankful for the partners that I have."

On whether Paula Deen is a racist: "No. As a child I was raised in a home, where my father tolerated bad grades, he would tolerate me breaking a curfew, but he said, "Girl, if I ever found out that you've behaved in a way where you're better than others, your butt is going to be...."

On how she could use the N-word: "The day I used that word was a world ago...it was 30 years ago. I had a gun put to my head, because the man that put his gun to my head was a customer..."

On other occasions she may have used the N-word: "No, I have never. They asked me in all my 66 years on earth if I've used. Never. That man put a gun to my head, and I had gone out on a limb for him, and gotten him a loan...."

On whether she was truthful in the deposition: "No, I answered the question truthfully. It's just not a part of who we are."

On whether African-Americans are offended by the N-word:
"I don't know Matt, I have asked myself that so many times, because it's very distressing to go into my kitchens and hear what people are calling each other. It's very distressing for me, because I think that for this problem to be worked on, these young people are going to have to take control and start showing respect for each other. It makes my skin crawl."

On whether she wishes she lied during the deposition: "No, because there are a couple of kinds of people that I don't like, that I'm prejudiced against, Matt, and that's thieves and liar."

On her supporters: "I think that we can never underestimate the power of those voice. They're as angry as the people are that are reading these stories that are lies. These people that are reading these lies, they don't know me. And the people that know me are just as angry. I would never, with any intention, hurt anybody on purpose, and I never would."

On whether she's putting on a show for Lauer: "No, no, no, what you see is what you get. I'm not an actress. I'm heartbroken. I've had to hold friends in my arms while they sobbed because they know what's been said about me. And I'm having to comfort them and tell them that we're going to be all right. God will get us through it. I've had wonderful support from Reverend Jackson."

In sum: "If there's anyone out there that has never said something that they wish they could take back, please pick up that stone and throw it so hard at my head that it kills me. Please. I want to meet you. I is what I is and I'm not changing. There's someone evil out there who saw what I had and wanted it."

notice he didn't go into all the stuff she said OUTSIDE the deposition issue like the civil war slave servers, etc.

Why is that every time THEY use the n-word they SUDDENLY become so concerned about hip-hop and the welfare of black youth?

Why are they are so OBSESSED with being able to use that word?

Other races use these slurs with each other in some way shape or form (more privately I grant you)...and I never hear the NEED for White people to say those words. But man oh man they REALLY want to say the N-word to our face with no repercussions.

This is the first time i actually got into a big disagreement with a Black woman who actually TRIED to defend Paula to us.

EXACTLY!!!

When she said this right here this morning, my reaction is fuck this bitch :smh:

They never take responsibility for what they do or their actions but quick to try to blame blacks for them using the "N" word

On whether African-Americans are offended by the N-word: "I don't know Matt, I have asked myself that so many times, because it's very distressing to go into my kitchens and hear what people are calling each other. If the bitch would've said a Jewish slur she would be gone no questions asked and we wouldn't be talking about the racist bitch. Media would not even discuss whether it is fair or not. She would be done, end of story. So fuck the bitch and her livelihood. She made enough millions already since Oprah put her on.

Ask him, he knows.

Wow

Still brainwashed in 2013

Mofos celebrate their fallen soldiers as a tribute to freedom.

You don't hear them saying shit about Britain freed their colony

:smh::smh::smh:

I like the back & forth discourse but please give complete thoughts, since you're referring to Eric Williams I can only assume that you're talking about one or several Caribbean Islands, namely Trinidad & Tobago, but exactly why are you comparing the Caribbean Islands that were under British rule to the United States, when slavery was abolished in 1838 in most colonies under British rule, did it still exist in the US?!?

Well, to be honest I'm not put out by her behavior at all. I'm not shocked or surprised that a southern white person has said or done something racist. Have we not been watching the teaparty BS for the past 5-6 years? She is not only coming from a standpoint of white privilege where one might not be conscious of benefits, but of SOUTHERN white privilege, where there is an entitlement mentality. A "we treat everybody like family but I'm better than you, so know your place" type deal. Not only has she not had to censor herself, but if that Hollis guy is any indication, she has said this shit to the faces of blacks, and not only not gotten any negative reaction, but had continued ongoing friendships and business relationships. From her comments about the relative that shot himself, I gather she probably grew up hearing how rich and prosperous the family was until the elimination of slavery, and from the comments she made today about someone trying to get what she has worked hard for, she's probably bought into the mentality also that blacks want something for nothing, and the "us vs them" when it comes to her assets. I'm not condoning her actions or behavior, but I can understand it. She's old, she's set in her ways, and she said she isn't going to change, but when her money falls out she will change or go the way of her uncle or whomever it was. Tho, in this day and age, she might not have to change, if the supporters who have come out for her are to go by. I still can't believe she said "I is what I is". Who the hell speaks like that?

Bruh, neither me nor ANY of my immediate family grew up in the Caribbean, my fam was born & raised in the United States, up until 1776 the Colonies followed the rules and doctrine of England, after that it was on its own, and followed the laws set forth in the Constitution, up to & including naming Black people as "3/5ths of a man", when England passed the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833, did it apply to the United States, when slaves were emancipated in 1838, did this apply to America, and when Lincoln first made the Emancipation Proclamation and then later pushed thru the 13th Amendment, did it apply to former slaves in the Caribbean under British rule?

The answer is "No" to all, keep in mind that unlike the US, the slaves on Caribbean Islands under British rule were Emancipated in 1838, they gained their "independence" (in Trinidad & Tobago @ least) in 1962, this is a reversal of how things went in the US, with the US gaining its independence in 1783, and the legal abolition of slavery in 1865, even though economics played a BIG part in everything that happened (as well as slave uprisings and revolts) why are you insistent on taking away any & all credit White people have to have in the ending of the barbaric institution known as slavery?!?

Are you saying that without the 13th Amendment & the Abolitionist movement against slavery that it would've ceased to exist on its own EVERYWHERE, and if so, what proof do you have, and please refer to something else besides Mr. Williams' book.

Just chopping it up bruh!

Sorry bruh, but trust me, things WILL NOT CHANGE until Paula Deen and her generation (Baby Boomers) die off or are not in power anymore, ya'll need to understand that it is THOROUGHLY ingrained in her psyche that Blacks are no more important than dogs, we could NEVER be her equal which is why she has no problem making derogatory statements about us and saying that she's not a racist, much the same way you don't think twice about calling your dogs names.

The people defending her are silly, defending an OVERWHELMINGLY defenseless point, the Black people around her apparently are happy that she thinks no more of them as lap dogs.:smh:

She's out @QVC also. You have to check the comments at the link.

http://community.qvc.com/blogs/q+ne...mike-george-and-a-letter-from-paula-deen.aspx

A Letter From Mike George, President and CEO, QVC

To our customers,

Over the past week, in our online communities, our social forums, and our call centers, and through letters and emails to me, many of you have passionately shared your thoughts about QVC’s relationship with Paula Deen. This issue is so important to you and to our community that I wanted to talk with you directly about it, rather than couch our response in some anonymous corporate statement.

Many of you have expressed disappointment and even anger at the comments Paula has acknowledged making. Others feel equally strongly that Paula is not being treated fairly in the public debate and deserves forgiveness. Your spirited conversation reflects the complexity of the issues raised and the deep feelings surrounding them.

Regardless of where you stand, many of you are questioning what QVC is planning to do and whether we will handle our relationship with Paula in a respectful and appropriate manner – for Paula, for our customers, and for the broader community.

We owe you an answer. We too are troubled by what Paula has acknowledged saying. We’re also troubled by the allegations against her. We deeply believe, as you do, that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

At the same time, we have enjoyed a positive, long-standing relationship with Paula. She has always been gracious and supportive to every QVC team member she encountered. And we value, as we hope you know, all of our relationships. We believe it’s important to handle difficult situations such as this in a thoughtful and fair manner that recognizes our common humanity.

And in any strong relationship, when troubles arise, the first step is to talk. We have talked with Paula and her team extensively over the last several days, and together we have considered what is best for our customers, for Paula, and for QVC. For now, we have decided to take a pause. Paula won’t be appearing on any upcoming broadcasts and we will phase out her product assortment on our online sales channels over the next few months. We all think it’s important, at this moment, for Paula to concentrate on responding to the allegations against her and on her path forward.

Some of you may wonder whether this is a “forever” decision – whether we are simply ending our association with Paula. We don’t think that’s how relationships work. People deserve second chances. And we always strive to do the right thing.

I am grateful for the openness and honesty you have brought to the conversation, and I recognize that many of you will be disappointed by our decision. Whatever your views, we will continue to do what we have always strived to do – create a great shopping experience, and earn your trust, and your business, every day.

Sincerely,

Mike George

A Letter From Paula Deen

To my customers at QVC,

I want to let you know how much I value my relationship with all of you and with QVC. I’ve loved hearing from all of you over the years, with your calls and posts and letters. I’ve so enjoyed my close relationship with David Venable and his team, and my warm interactions with the extended QVC family. I also appreciate the caring way that QVC has interacted with me over the past week.

As you know, I have some important things to work on right now, both personally and professionally. And so we’ve agreed that it’s best for me to step back from QVC and focus on setting things right.

I am truly sorry and assure you I will work hard to earn your forgiveness.

Paula

This bitch is truly lost. :smh::smh:

She's really been on some other shit lately, I almost think she's trolling. Either way she has moved from my "want to fuck" list to my "want to hate-fuck" list.

You did this to yourself Stacey!

Wal-Mart, Caesars Entertainment drop Paula Deen

Paula Deen appeared on TV this morning to assure fans that she is not a racist, but two more companies still decided to sever ties with the embattled TV chef.

Wal-Mart and Caesars Entertainment are the latest companies to drop Paula Deen after she admitted to using a racial slur in the past. Previously, the Food Network announced that her contract would not be renewed, and Smithfield Foods, a pork producer who services Deen’s restaurants, followed suit a few days later.)

“We are ending our relationship with Paula Deen Enterprises and we will not place new orders beyond those already committed,” a Wal-Mart spokesperson told ABC News. “We will work with suppliers to address existing inventories and agreements.”

The world’s largest retailer began carrying Paula Deen-branded items in its U.S. stores in 2011.

Caesars Entertainment, which operates the celebrity chef’s restaurants in four locations, has also ended its relationship with Deen. The company plans to re-brand those restaurants in the near future.

“While we appreciate Paula’s sincere apologies for statements she made in her past that she recently disclosed during a deposition given in response to a lawsuit, after thoughtful consideration of their impact, we have mutually decided that it is in the best interests of both parties to part ways at this time,” a representative for Caesars Entertainment told ABC News Radio.

Walmart and Caesars Entertainment joined Smithfield, a food company specializing in pork products, which dropped Deen on Monday. The Food Network also decided not to renew Deen’s contract after her remarks.

QVC told TMZ.com it was “closely monitoring these events and we are reviewing our business relationship with Ms. Deen. In the meantime, we have no immediate plans to have her appear on QVC.”

A spokesperson for Random House, which is publishing Deen’s upcoming book, “Paula Deen’s New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up,” similarly told People magazine it is “monitoring the situation closely.” The book is scheduled to come out in October.

Paula Deen Allegedly Asked Black Staffers to Dress Like Aunt Jemima

The Paula Deen racism scandal just got reignited thanks to a blockbuster New York Times story Thursday that claims the former Food Network star asked black employees to dress like Aunt Jemima.
The profile of Deen's cook Dora Charles overflows with allegations of racist behavior. Deen allegedly paid black employees less than white ones and used racial slurs.
But it is Deen's idea of Confederate-tinged dinner theater that may be the most unseemly element of the story. Charles tells the Times that she refused Deen's requests to ring a dinner bell in front of her Savannah, Ga. restaurant The Lady and Sons and, in the words of the paper, holler for "people to come and get it."

"I said,'I'm not ringing no bell,'" Charles told the paper. "That's a symbol to me of what we used to do back in the day."
Deen finally found an African-American employee willing to perform this throwback to plantation life in Charles' friend and colleague Ineata Jones, who the Times reports is nicknamed Jellyroll. The paper says that postcards of Jones ringing a dinner bell are for sale at her stores (pictured left).
Jones drew the line at dressing like Aunt Jemima, the Quaker Oats spokeswoman with origins in minstrel shows.

"Jellyroll didn't want to hear that," Charles said. "She didn't want to do that."
A spokeswoman for Deen did not respond to TheWrap's request for comment, but did deny the allegations to the New York Times.
Charles, who claims she was not adequately compensated for her role developing Deen's Southern-style cooking, has filed complaints with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The article seems likely to tarnish Deen's already damaged reputation following her admission last month that she had used the N-word. The chef was forced to open up about her use of slurs during a deposition related to allegations of racism and sexual harassment brought against Deen by a former employee, Lisa T. Jackson.
In the wake of Deen's admission, the celebrity chef was dropped by Food Network and dumped by retailers like Walmart and Target and the drug maker Novo Nordisk, with whom she had endorsement deals.

It's interesting how growing up in a different era gets a pass in certain situations. All of these black women that are supporting her and using that as an excuse, I wonder how they'd feel if an older white man took their bodies, because he grew up in an era where that was accepted? Or how would all of these women feel if their husbands were fucking around on them, because in his era, that was accepted? Why are sexual harassment and giving women lower pay not accepted in the workplace from bosses who are from a different era? Why the fuck do people have a problem with wrong, when it comes to certain shit and not others?

Man, a lot of these brainwashed ninjas still got that "We sick Boss" attitude when it comes to white people. They love white people and white Jesus more than they love themselves.
