I chose the 'audit' option yesterday. I'm already committed to 12-15 hours per week working with a friend on his app. Trying to get my Kaya on. It'd be foolish to think I could commit 10 hours per week to this class as well. That's been my problem in the past...overextending myself. Wish I could have done the class first.

Problems to be solved:

Media Watch: matching advertising dollars/brands with public issues

Cop Watch: Realtime streaming of audio & video from your phone on a traffic stop

Good shit .... thanks. I had a partner that made T-shirts and button up shirts and still trying to find a way to put a hidden camera on that shit with the same premise. Hidden in a button or fake pen in the pocket, etc. not small enough, affordable enough or convenient enough for the masses ... YET!

THIS IS THE GOAL PPL. At the end of the class have a finished product with an identified market, a completed presentation and some sales. BUT YOU GOTTA SURVIVE THE FIRST 2 - 3 weeks to join my team. You gotta do the readings, complete the assignments and participate in the forums. Each team member must contribute in order for the whole team to be successful.

Problem: Grocery shopping.

Some items are more expensive than others in stores.

Solution: Dynamically showing where to go shop based on a list of what you want.

Ability to scan in the items you buy using the barcodes and create a list.

You can then select from this list and the app should tell you where to go get it them in 1 or 2 visits for the cheapest price.

How did you do on last week's assignment?

How many heads would work together to put a product out there ... from idea to implementation then seek funding to make it a reality. Catch is you only have 16 weeks. Class is no joke and requires teamwork.

Technology Entrepreneurship I

In an amazingly successful course, Chuck Eesley, teaches innovators how to build a startup from business idea to high-potential commercial opportunity.

The Course
This course introduces the fundamentals of technology entrepreneurship, pioneered in Silicon Valley and now spreading across the world. You will learn the process technology entrepreneurs use to start companies. It involves taking a technology idea and finding a high-potential commercial opportunity, gathering resources such as talent and capital, figuring out how to sell and market the idea, and managing rapid growth. To gain practical experience alongside the theory, students form teams and work on startup projects in those teams.
This is the second offering of the class. Last time, nearly 40,000 students from around the world participated and worked in teams together. The top teams were matched with Silicon Valley mentors, and the best teams at the end of the class pitched their ideas to investors. Many of the alumni of the last class are continuing to build their startups and will be mentoring teams this time.
By the conclusion of the course, it is our hope that you understand how to:

Articulate a process for taking a technology idea and finding a high-potential commercial opportunity (high performing students will be able to discuss the pros and cons of alternative theoretical models).

Create and verify a plan for gathering resources such as talent and capital.

Create and verify a business model for how to sell and market an entrepreneurial idea.

Generalize this process to an entrepreneurial mindset of turning problems into opportunities that can be used in larger companies and other settings.

You think I'm joking ... the bean pie development will track all bean pie sales as they happen and collect data over a period of months up to a year to determine the best locations, days, weather and times to sell bean pies.

This way you can have your sales force concentrate on the most successful areas of the city.

How many of you guys still in the class after 2 weeks? Tomorrow we start choosing teams. If we want to make an ALL BGOL team (plus a few non-bgol developers) now is the time to do it. Hit me back on how you're doing, what problems you are having and if you still have an interest.
