LL hooks up with country artist: "Accidental Racist"

u gotta be the most stupid azz beatch made poster on bgol bar none -- and that's sayin a lot considering that mental knuck draggers that trolled this site over the years. if ya lazy azz bothered to read even the last two pages u woulda been able to follow along with the convo. but a mental midget like u can't even connect two dayum pages together to get the gist of it. like a limp wrist batty man u whine 'but what did LL say in magazines interview 20 years agooooo? i don't care to read the previous page. tell meeeeee. i want the transcript'! and like i said before, his comments THEN reflected the lyrics he wrote in that western song NOW. the tone of the interviews mirrored the vibe he kicked in that western song. i even told u which publications to contact if u want to read the articles for yourself in-depth but u stomp and pout like a young kid at pre school with snot running down his nose cause u don't get your way.

yet it's somehow the next man's fault cause you're to fukin stupid or just 2 lazy to be bothered with securing the material? fuk u ya slothful mutha fuka. bum azz nickah. u ain't sheit and ya lazy azz won't ever be sheit. feel free to quote that since ya ig'nant azz is 2 lazy to get any other quote for yaself

now sit there and check out my taggin skills ya stupid fuk

fuckyou.gif
al that bullshit amounts to you not being able to back up your argument, my man.

plain and simple.

all that typing and bullshitting and at the end of it, you basically cannot cite the shit you are basing your argument on. likely becuase it doesn't exist.

the burden of proof lies on the claimant.

tagging skills indeed. rhodes scholar you are.

hole up. making a song doesn't have sheit to do with 'sellin out' if u believe in the message and are the person recording it. LL ain't changed in that he always made songs w/mass appeal that had a broad message. you may not LIKE the song but that ain't got sheit to do with 'sellin out'.

sheit, i know LL puts his money where his mouth is far as assisting black folks and the causes that are important to us goes......

i did listen to the song. would i ever play it in my ride or on my ipod in the gym? heck no! that song was not hot!

but making a whack song isn't the same as being a 'sellout' cause you recorded it. actions you take for and with other black folks is the ruler that should measure whether or not someone is down. sheit, u gotta remember that LL was the first rapper to ever perform at a presidential inauguration (bill clinton's first one) and he took a lot of heat from some rappers behind that. but his point was you can't change nuthin from the outside. i don't agree with some of the lyrics he used but not all brothers view sheit in the same way or even solutions on how to get past issues either

i know for a fact that LL has put his money where his mouth is in terms of financially backing small black biz owners. helps young black kids from low income areas with educational needs and other sheit like that.

if u don't get that recording a song about reconciliation w/some western artist is NOT sellin out black folks then you have absolutely no idea of what 'selling out' even means. sellin out is changing the way you are so that WHITE FOLKS will like you. newsflash: white folks been liking cool j dayum near 30 years -- his first joint came out in 1985 -- so u thinking that he recorded that song just so white folks will like him 'better' is pretty ridiculous

u totally misapplied the definition of 'sellout' in this case. has LL changed his behavior in order to be accepted by whites? nope. are his words in the song a reflection of statements he's made in the past in magazine articles and tv interviews when asked about similar topics? yep. dude ain't changed his tune at all.

so now you're gonna either have to allege that cool j has been an undercover 'sellout' for over 20 years or just accept that he sees solutions to racial problems differently than you. but somebody that puts finances and work in to help lift the black community isn't a 'sellout'. in fact, it's the last thing a sellout would do

if u check out the interviews he did back in 1992 around the time he performed at the clinton inauguration, a lot of the quotes he gave pretty much mirror the lyrics he kicked in that joint he recorded with the western artist. you don't have to agree with what dude is saying at all. sheit, i know i disagree with some of the lyrics he kicked in that song. but that's a far cry from labeling cool j a 'sellout' cause i disagree with his point of view in terms of rectifying race relations.

sheit, i know bgolers better have done MORE work lifting up and helping to improve the black community through volunteering and financially backing small black owned businesses before downing somebody else who does while labeling them a 'sellout'. cause if a 'sellout' actually does MORE to help black folks in their daily lives than you do, what does that make YOU

uh....actually he did. while not verbatim the overall message was the same.
and i already spoke on not agreeing with some of the lyrics in the song. but you can't take several bars from a whack country western song then use them to claim that the man is a 'sellout'.

take for example that gold chain line. when i heard that sheit i was like  cause it just rubbed me the wrong way. it's like how can u even say that? but if u put THAT LINE against the overriding message of the ENTIRE song then it fits with what the country dude was singing when he said 'neither one of us can rewrite history'. both dudes are saying basically that we don't know each other, don't really trust each other, but let's put away preconceived notions and work on the future and not dwell on the past. now imo, u don't need to ask someone to ignore america's history on slavery in order to do that, but then again he ain't asking ME to do sheit. he's saying what HE will do

u can contact the source magazine, ebony magazine, black beat magazine and also rap sheet and inquire about back issues from 1992 and 1993. each one ran pieces on cool j with a political slant since he made history by being the first rap artist slated to perform at a presidential inauguration.

and it's only 'vague' to mutha fukas who don't really like to read or are to lazy to research sheit themselves. and for you to claim that i was on some 'philosophical shit' let's me know that you NEVER took a philosophy class in college. the center does not hold for you.

((and yes that was a play on words in reference to the book. somehow i doubt you caught it let a lone read it. do yourself a favor; order it on amazon ))

51hxbBbmgzL.jpg

'emotional'?

anytime a dude tries to deflect from his own bullsheit he accuses the other person of becoming 'emotional'. it's a tired tactic. surprised you'd even try and use it.

but since i pointed you toward securing the source material and your reply leans to the truth that you're either to lazy to do the work yourself or to cheap to buy those issues, just continue with your day secure in the fact that like-minded bgolers are now well aware that you're full of sheit

ummm......i already answered the question AND THEN posted that info on getting the material on the previous page. how tha fuk do u xpect yourself to be able to dig into source material when u don't have the mental capacity to follow along in a dayum thread?

fuk it. i'll even quote myself since you don't have the tools needed to follow along without a white cane :smh:
EVERYTHING YOU'VE SAID IN THIS THREAD... AND NOT ONCE DID YOU CITE ANYTHING. JUST EMPTY CLAIMS.

so stop it with the 'if you read the other two pages' bullshit

you made a claim and you will not or can not back it up.

period.

your word is no good and on top of that you act like a damn child when called out on it.

again, simple question...YOU said he said the shit. just tell me what he said!

you can't! everything you've said every time i asked has been a deflection because YOU CAN NOT ANSWER THIS QUESTION. YOU CAN'T DEFEND YOUR OWN ARGUMENT.

I am too late.:( I tried to teach LL that the white man is the devil and bring him into the boosom of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad! But he refused to listen to kogalee and now he has sold his soul to the white man who is the devil!

This will happen even more and you negroes reject the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

Listen to me mullafuckas! I am your only salvation to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad! I am here to save you from this fate of selling your very souls to this white man, this devil! The devil has got to LL because he refused to listen to Elijah's Messenger for bgol who is kogalee! I am here to teach you that the white man is the devil and save you before you corrupt yourselves!

well..thanks for not being an idiot..but you're not really giving an answer either. was stevie a sellout for making ebony and ivory with paul mac? i would just like to hear an intelligent discussion instead of launching attacks at a hip hop legend. :dunno:

Cant even make a comparison between the 2 :smh:

Haven't listened yet but...

Like Bigirl said, you can't compare the two

Ebony and Ivory talks about race issues without offending either party or giving props to those responsible for not only the situation that caused the death of thousands if not more of our ancestors but also for the repercussions of that situation.

Uncle (Thomas) L, future of the Punk lyrics:
To the man that waited on me at the Starbucks down on Main, I hope you understand
When I put on that t-shirt, the only thing I meant to say is I'm a Skynyrd fan
The red flag on my chest somehow is like the elephant in the corner of the south
And I just walked him right in the room
Just a proud rebel son with an 'ol can of worms
Lookin' like I got a lot to learn but from my point of view

I'm just a white man comin' to you from the southland
Tryin' to understand what it's like not to be
I'm proud of where I'm from but not everything we've done
And it ain't like you and me can re-write history
Our generation didn't start this nation
We're still pickin' up the pieces, walkin' on eggshells, fightin' over yesterday
And caught between southern pride and southern blame

They called it Reconstruction, fixed the buildings, dried some tears
We're still siftin' through the rubble after a hundred-fifty years
I try to put myself in your shoes and that's a good place to begin
But it ain't like I can walk a mile in someone else's skin

'Cause I'm a white man livin' in the southland
Just like you I'm more than what you see
I'm proud of where I'm from but not everything we've done
And it ain't like you and me can re-write history
Our generation didn't start this nation
And we're still paying for the mistakes
That a bunch of folks made long before we came
And caught between southern pride and southern blame

Dear Mr. White Man, I wish you understood
What the world is really like when you're livin' in the hood
Just because my pants are saggin' doesn't mean I'm up to no good
You should try to get to know me, I really wish you would
Now my chains are gold but I'm still misunderstood
I wasn't there when Sherman's March turned the south into firewood
I want you to get paid but be a slave I never could
Feel like a new fangled Django, dodgin' invisible white hoods
So when I see that white cowboy hat, I'm thinkin' it's not all good
I guess we're both guilty of judgin' the cover not the book
I'd love to buy you a beer, conversate and clear the air
But I see that red flag and I think you wish I wasn't here

I'm just a white man
(If you don't judge my do-rag)
Comin' to you from the southland
(I won't judge your red flag)
Tryin' to understand what it's like not to be
I'm proud of where I'm from
(If you don't judge my gold chains)
But not everything we've done
(I'll forget the iron chains)
It ain't like you and me can re-write history
(Can't re-write history baby)

Oh, Dixieland
(The relationship between the Mason-Dixon needs some fixin')
I hope you understand what this is all about
(Quite frankly I'm a black Yankee but I've been thinkin' about this lately)
I'm a son of the new south
(The past is the past, you feel me)
And I just want to make things right
(Let bygones be bygones)
Where all that's left is southern pride
(RIP Robert E. Lee but I've gotta thank Abraham Lincoln for freeing me, know what I mean)
It's real, it's real
It's truth

Brad Paisley and LL Cool J’s ‘Accidental Racist’ is wrong on so many levels

ll-cool-j-brad-paisley.jpg

Accidental Racist” is the worst song in the history of music. If you can believe it, it’s actually worse than Ray J’s humble ode to doing better in life, “I Hit It First.” (Side Note: No you didn’t.)

Country music’s Brad Paisley and hip-hop’s LL Cool J teamed up for the horrible, awful and very bad track “Accidental Racist.”

The title alone tells you that this is a song custom made for long, hot afternoons outside of the trailer while sippin’ on PBRs with the fellas and practicing aim on squirrels and coons—raccoons that is.

Even the title is cringe-inducing

“Accidental Racist” would have been a perfect title for that little girl’s ridiculous op-ed in the Wall Street Journal that whines about not getting into the Ivys of her choice.

This song, however, would be more accurately titled “White Privilege and an Unfortunate Middle-Aged Rapper.”

Because I love you, dear Grio readers, I listened to this song several times and wrote down the lyrics.

Shall we get into some of the more memorable lines? Yes, we shall. Oh, but first, let me just say that no one is “accidentally” racist, you’re just plain ol’ racist. Now that that’s cleared up, let’s begin.

Showing love for Lynryd Skynyrd

“When I put on that t-shirt/The only thing I meant to say is I’m a Skynyrd fan.”

Paisley is referring to Lynryd Skynyrd, the band behind the infamous and ubiquitous “Sweet Home Alabama.” Well, instead of wearing a confederate flag t-shirt, Paisley could always wear a Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt that, I don’t know, doesn’t feature the flag. It’s about being a fan of the band, right?

Paisley continues:

“I’m proud of where I’m from/But not everything we’ve done/And it ain’t like you and me can re-write history/Our generation didn’t start this nation/We’re still picking up the pieces/Walking over eggshells/Fighting over yesterday”

Yeah Brad! Tell these fools to stop bringing up old stuff. Slavery was like a really long time ago. It’s not like slavery had long-lasting repercussions and put future generations at a disadvantage in the financial, social, educational and political realms in the U.S.

Re-imagining Reconstruction

My main man BP then hits us with this historical lesson:

“They called it Reconstruction/Fixed the buildings/Dried some tears”

See! The South already did their “my bad” atonement.

According to this country crooner, Reconstruction was all about literal construction (Did other things happen in that era?) and putting a Band-Aid on that boo boo that slavery made.

Get over it already, people.

LL Cool J appears to forgive slavery

Now comes Uncle L to set this dude straight! He represents Queens, so you know it’s gonna to be a problem.

“Dear Mr. White Man/ I wish you understood/What the world is really like when you’re living in the hood”

Yeah, give it to ‘em L…wait, what?

“Just because my pants are sagging doesn’t mean I’m up to no good/You should try to get to know me/I really wish you would”

Ok, no. LL, are you about to show your papers?

“When I see that white cowboy hat, I’m thinking it’s not all good/I guess we’re both guilty of judging the cover not the book/I’d love to buy you a beer/Conversate and clear the air”

You’d love to buy him a beer? Is that the first thought that runs through your mind, L? Oh, but it’s in the ad libs where LL really shines.

“If you don’t judge my do-rag/I won’t judge your red flag”

A do-rag and a confederate flag are the exact same thing. But the best line is right here:

“If you don’t judge my gold chains/I’ll forgive the iron chains”

Say word? Somewhere in the world, Trinidad James is smiling. So, let me get this straight. If someone is okay with us purchasing trinkets we can forgive hundreds of years of oppression? That definitely sounds like a fair deal.

Is this a skit?

LL goes on to encourage us to let bygones be bygones (he literally says that), he shouts out Robert E. Lee and thanks Abraham Lincoln for freeing him. I wish I were making this up. It’s a real life Chappelle’s Show skit.

Now you understand why this is the worst song ever created. I would however pay good money to see Brad Paisley and LL Cool J perform this masterpiece here in New York.

What’s your “favorite” line from this song?

you would be surprised at the amount of celebities and athletes who are republican.

but its not a surprise they are only looking out for their money.

i would be more interested in what they do socially than how they vote.

It's not that being a republican is a bad idea. It's just the fact that it doesn't make sense in this era. ESPECIALLY, during the Bush years. And this nigga was at the convention!!!:smh::smh::smh:

You can be a black conservative all you want, but to be a republican who speaks at their conventions means you have lost all sense of self.

country and rap should never mix....again.i get the point they were trying to make but ll lyrics just didnt do it....period. hailing from bama i can say the white kids i grew up with in high school the confederate flag is more a country boy rebel flag used to show love of the south. ala dukes of hazzard. so its like we took the word nigga and they took the rebel flag but in each others eyes it will forever be the other way around.it is what it is

bruh...i grew up right next door to you. them same muhfuckas you just wrote that pass for ARE calling you and yours ****** when you leave. i used to think that kind of shit, nah they aiight...but man they are excellent at being aiight with you in the moment, and when it doesn't matter. all you gotta do is bring up some real issues and watch how quick you wanna fight.

and i'm not saying all whites are racist. but the muhfuckas who rock that flag are on some bullshit and they got you fooled. just ask yourself why it's okay to for them to wear something they know represents oppression and is wildly offensive to a whole group of people? they are free to do it, but that don't make it cool. it's that entitlement. fuck how bad it (legitimately) makes you feel, get over it man. i'm white.

that's bullshit.

He only did it for his new album dropping next week

See this is the blueprint they should have followed. I think Stevie wrote the song if I'm not mistaken or maybe they both did. I don't know. But it was a positive uplifting song about love, happiness, togetherness, peace and understanding and all that jazz. It was a little sappy and syrupy and kumbayaish but that was the whole point anyway.

It was a nice song accepted by both pop or white and black audiences. It was also a big crossover pop hit. No bomb throwing about slavery and confederate flags and the civil war. That's confrontational not harmonizing.

They were on some"We Are The World" vibe or "Self Destruction" from KRS and them. The Live Aid songs had that kinda vibe.

There's nothing positive to say about the confederate flag. Not from a black person anyway.

Just a dumb move.

I think I know who LL Coon J is on this site

:smh::smh::smh:

.....can't believe I'm going to admit this, but I actually liked that Nelly/Tim McGraw song from years ago.....:hmm:

its not the genre its the topic.

any other topic, literally any other topic and i would be fine with ll cool j doing the music. literally any other topic.

but he participated in the worst thing imaginable.

the title of the song alone is totally offensive.

there is no such thing as accidental racism. all of this shit is a collective effort its by DESIGN.

now if they called the song im an ignorant bigot then maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

those preconceived notions they refer to are BY DESIGN. not on accident.

and then the stuff we are supposed to forgive according to ll just don't make sense. it doesn't make sense on any level.

but this is the difference between us and other groups.

if he had said faggot
if he had said he was going to harm a woman

there would BE NO DEFENDING IT.

there would be an apology issued and he and the other dude would be hitting the charity circuit to get their names right again

but because its us....

WE'RE THE ONES WHO ARE WRONG

for some reason

you flim flam as fuck b. real shit.

wow. u don't even know what citing a source means. you CITE a source by giving the name of the source material. 'source material' would be the names/publication years of the publications i repeatedly gave, dummy.

just as i said. stupid and lazy as fuk. do a google search of any random month for full issues of any of those magazines for 1992 and 1993. guess what? nuthin comes up. so in your dimwitted mind none of those magazines even existed in '92 or '93 because the issues aren't wholly available for free to YOU. why do u suppose i told you to contact the publications to request archive issues as opposed to doing an online search? uh....because none of those publications offers full past issues ONLINE for free dumb azz. so yeah, i told you to request the back issues from those publications so your ig'nant azz could confirm for self instead of clinging to a bullsheit denial that u have no foundation on. and ur dumb azz prolly was like 'LL didn't perform at no clinton inauguration'! but then u looked that up online too and went :hmm: when ya azz was proved wrong on that too

but this is bgol so i xpect dumb azzes to complain just to complain. argue just to argue and act like their age matches their shoe size. dudes who ain't done sheit to mentor lil kids in the community, volunteer time at a local homeless shelter filled with black and brown folks or even donate money to help a brother/sister with a solid biz plan to get started are up in arms over a single verse by cool j -- a dude that's already on record as having done all that already. point blank, makes me no mind WHAT tha fuk u believe about cool j. i already know what i've read. but u and the rest of your 'sellout' clown club that hasn't done sheit to lift a hand to help raise the community up ain't sheit but ridiculous hypocrites that also happen to be dumb as dirt :smh:
