The Americans: The 2nd best espionage/spy show on TV

that's the great thing about it. everything being done i can see having gone down when it happened. nothing is over the top they're not super spies they're just spies that are good. so many things probably did go down like that and nobody was the wiser.

liked the wild card of the kgb agent having the secret wife and kid. cold work that they lied and took the kid back to the soviet to be raised by the grandparents and killed the mother who probably mentioned something about spies to claudia in the van which got her killed.

and crazy thing is, that baby could have grown up and been RIGHT back into the kgb shit it could've been liv schrieber's character on salt

cat and mouse game by them going over acting concerned about what was going on and was really running intel and the agent was none the wiser.. so funny they cleaned the trunk and he let it go. he was close to knowing he was right and he'll never know

husband i believe loves his wife and kids and loves them more than mother russia.. if it comes down to it, he's choosing them over anything. the wife i don't know she's coming around to seeing things his way somewhat.

yet another show where a security guard gets merked for doing their job
he thought it was one way but
....:smh:

damn tonight's episode might have been the best yet.
I guessed pretty early on that Phillip & Elizabeth were being vetted by their own ppl. Loved how they got some retribution and seemed to be on the same page but that didnt last long of course. Was happy as hell when she kicked Grannie's ass.

it still takes some getting used to see the complete role reversal between the husband and wife, from each of their perspectives neither was truly wrong.

and god damn the FBI agent is fucking in love with Nina. He got rid of a legit asset to protect. Didnt see that coming at all but its only matter of time before she eats a bullet.

shit even the subplot with the kids kept me on the edge of my seat. Ppl still hitchhiked in the early 80s.

this has become one of my favorite shows on tv.

I thought i "got" that episode but now i really get it. Thanks. This is a good thread.

Excellent shit!

Knew they were getting vetted because everyone on the FBI side was concerned with other shit. That type of thing they would have spoken on.

Wife whooping granny ass was unexpected but deserved. you can't just do that to them they're your main people on the ground. you fuck around and they will fuck you and the entire country over. talking about we had to be sure because if you were the moles it was a blow we couldn't take...well if they were it you would have killed them and then what? what of their kids? or the contacts and everything they have?

The dynamic between husband and wife is great. its like they can't be on the same page at the same time. He really loved her and she thought of it as business. he confided in her and then she told cause she was basically snitching to h.r. on her co worker like many people do.

THEN she finally looks at everything and their life and is really starting to love him, cut off panther and everything and now this happens and she's gotta try and earn his trust again. its like they were building and then bam everything knocked down again. i don't know if they'll ever get it right and that's good television.

the kids not being spies and still having the ability to get out of that situation and make it home, then cover for each other and act like nothing has happened. ironic. they think they're getting over on a secret and they're the spies, and they have no idea who really is doing some espionage shit in that household  maybe its in their blood then eh?

glad panther is back in action. we're going to see more of him.

fucked up dude got setup like that. he didn't take the pussy from her she offered him some head them some sex. that ain't on him smh. got him sent back to mother russia where he's about to be killed and he ain't even do anything wrong.

FBI agent is falling for her while his wife is reaching out. if she had any idea that the "people" he cared for was a single woman younger and more attractive she would flip.. but cause of the cover of his job she thinking he probably talking about some middle aged white dude that weighs 300lbs.

I wonder what the repercussions will be for that ass whooping she gave her and if their working relationship will be the same

next episode when she is all scarred up and has on dark glasses i already know im going to be laughing extra hard.

I usually give a show on fx a watch because they haven't let me down. So what's the verdict on the show? I got all the episodes on dvr and wondering if I should watch

It's a solid show to say the least. Very rooted in the reality of the times, with real events ie the Reagan assassination attempt, the beginning of Star Wars, Chuck Haig, etc. It's before the time of 80's excess, but the height of paranoia from the Cold War. I'm expecting them to do a time skip at some point.

The storyline is good, kinda rooted in reality. They are two sleeper agents that came here in the early 1960's, have a family and the missions they have to do are pretty simple spycraft, ie get a woman out of Philly, send messages, etc. Nothing over the top. A story came out a few years ago that there were real KGB sleeper agents in the US like that. The wrinkle is an FBI agent is their neighbor (he suspects them right off the bat) and the husband doesn't think America is that bad, while the wife is a true believer. But don't get it twisted, I think the husband is more hardcore than the wife.

I won't spoil too much, but give it at least three episodes. It's worth it.

thanks! i'm off today so i'll watch it

Loved the conversation between Granny & Elizabeth. Elizabeth aint to be fucked with and I can see her taking out Granny at some point during the life of the show. Outside of the trunk episode awhile back it seems like Phillip gets to do all the cool spy shit. Loved the scene in the park and how he just nonchantally walked away.

Suprised to see the return of the one that got away. He had to pick between the life he left behind and the life he made for himself. Cant believe the kids have a grown ass half-brother. Was taken aback when he started smacking her up but what a great plan to discredit the defector.

Looks like the convo Elizabeth had with Stan’s wife really got her catching feelings. Damn that relationship is dysfunctional as hell and i love it.

Lol it was only a matter of time before Stan made a play on Nina (and I cant blame him). Looks like Nina was feeling him too.

And Elizabeth is truly a ball buster.

Phillip finally got what he wanted from both his ‘loves’ a chance to get out with the one who got away vs a legit chance to make things work with his wife & partner of 20 years.

Last episode solidified this as a great show for me. They're cool now, but what happens when that black dude comes back in the picture? You know granny is gonna be fuckin with them now.

man I don't know what the fuck this show was about...
I just happened to have it on that channel and was peeping it
on and off...smoking and watching

but why that skinny white bitch beat that ol fat lady ass and got all greasy on her, talking about.. look at your face...

LOL

Anyone have a download source for this show? I actually set my dvr to record it, but for some reason every other episode cuts off after 9 minutes. so I'm thinking I had all the episodes until now...but I don't. Now I'm stuck not wanting to watch the show because I can't watch all of them.

The old fat white lady is their handler. In the episode before they kidnapped Phillip, then later Elizabeth to test them, see where their loyalties lie. When she revealed it was a test Elizabeth whooped her ass. So now they have to watch out for the FBI and thier own people.

Like dude said it still looks like they are testing Phillip. In the first episode they showed that Elizabeth was telling on Phillip, so now they don't trust him.

"I'm sorry I didn't kill you, that's my apology."

:eek::eek:

never watched Felcitiy but who thought the proganist of that show could pull off this role. Props to her.

Lol it was only a matter of time before Stan made a play on Nina (and I cant blame him). Looks like Nina was feeling him too.

I knew he was done a few episodes ago when they were in the park and he asked her how she got the Rezident to talk and she replied, "Sucked his cock like you told me to do."

The look in Stan's eyes  ... he was heartbroken.

I'm wondering how that's gonna come back to bite him. He was all in command at first, treating her like an asset, but now... :smh:

...the way she walkin' around naked in that hotel room and he was trying like a motherfucker to get his tie on, they both know she's got one up on him now. Don't get me wrong, I could see a genuine (slightly dysfunctional) relationship blossoming, but now she knows the power of her pussy. I hope they don't turn Stan into too much of a simp; I'm really starting to like his character, but his ass is primed to come unhinged behind that young stuff.

When she told him how the Rezident was gettin' it in with her, it was all Stan could do to set that motherfucker up and sent back to Russia.

damn you cant trust anyone in this game not even little girls. And Phillip be having the illest disguises.

and damn Granny is a convinving bitch. Makes you wonder if part of last week was setup to test Phillip. I mean he really wasnt that vital to the framing the embassodor.

damn for all their bickering Elizabeth & Phillip sure got alot of chemistry when its time to get down to business. They were on the same page and took out a significant threat without saying a word.

So Felicity is throwing a hissy fit because dude got some undercover pussy? Wasn't she fucking a dude in the first ep and she was cheating on her husband with the black dude? I hate how they keep trying to emasculation the guy and trying to make Felicity seem like she is the stronger one

listening to a random podcast and heard tonight's episode is the 'biggest' to date.

cant wait

DAMN this mother almost set-off WWIII over some pussy. Old girl wasnt evn that attractive. What happened to all the other pussy he kept talking about.

alot of collateral fucking damage

That bald guy deserved to die, that's what he gets for abusing his power and trying to arrest dude for no reason

same shit I'm thinking.

Maaan, I could not be a spy. Having to fuck random bitches:smh: What if she's 300lbs?

Over pussy?? :smh:

Shit just got real:eek:

But according tot the answering machine he WAS getting it mad honeys.

That is why that shit just seemed off...so he is a stalker now???

The writers need to fix that shit up cause you are 100% correct...

I THINK they are showing that the betrayal after exposing ALL her secrets to him and never really trusting ANYONE for him to lie when she was gonna give him a free pass is what did it.

and it didn't help that the old lady told her.

But they needed to REALLY strengthen that up...I dont mind the separation and stuff that reason should have been better.

sidebar: Wonder why BGOL is sleeping on this show?

Maybe he had a hunch walking in on her when she was getting files. Other than there partners, those dudes don't trust anyone. Remember he the main FBI guy breaking in to his neighbors garage?

true.

but damn he NEVER showed no super cops skilled before?

They tried HARD to justify your point with the flashbacks I guess.

But they went all over the place with that character...

He was jealous of his partner's success at the office one minute then he become the most loyal partner ever and then he getting mad pussy but was harassing/stalking that chick at work like he was getting none NOW he got super spy skills and SENSED she was up to something???

yeah the show tried to make him a likable compontent character we would miss in a 45 mintues of characterization.

before last week's episode he was the goofy sidekick & lady's man/stalker

-and damn loved the swerve with Stan knocking on Phillip's door claiming to be FBI. I guess Stan needs a new best friend and it'll the person who killed the old best friend

-Stan killed an innocent dude that only wanted to be a doctor

glad he died. he shouldn't have been stalking outside her house after she told his punk ass no every single time.
he died a simp, good riddance. unfortunately other people had to die all because he's a simp.

the separation is weak. her emotions are all over the place and the granny just don't want them to be happy period. especially since she snitched the husband out on his feelings for his family.

im glad the kids are taking it out on her as they should be.

hopefully it gets corrected. but clearly more actual action is about to go down consistently till the season finale.

why the only black character on the show effectively an errand boy?
power of the white (russian) pussy i guess.

im surprised there's 1 on the show at all honestly.

i'm only half joking atleast he is compontent and smart. I can see why a young black dudes that want to buck the system would get into bed with (pun intended) with the KGB

and damn nice move Armando stashing the ring. Dude was way more than goofball when he wasnt chasing tail

damn Stan good police

damn Phillip trying to sellout Gregory. Is he right or is he letting his feelings get the way? If Elizabeth wasnt attached I wonder if she would want to take him out

Phillip is right aint no black dude trying to move the Moscow

damn they aint Gregory a choice pinning Armando's murder to him

so let me get this right...elizabeth has always held it against Phillip that he had become attached to America and not down for the cause

but she was willing to risk her mission for mother russia based on her attachment to Gregory? Based on the look between them ironically she might finally be able to relate to Phillip and might bring em closer togther in the grand scheme of things

atleast he went out guns a blazing
