Shaq......to me Tim Duncan along with KG are centers who had to play PF because they weren't tough enough to play Center.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Yes to all you said. Shaq was more dominant when he was at the top of his game than Tim was when he was at the top of his. And I've been saying this forever that Tim Duncan has played Center against power forwards his entire career.

I think a better comparison is Ducan and the Shaq that played in Cleveland. We know Ducan can't even comelose to checking Shaq. I think some people are answering these questions best on what player they like more. If you remember the Spurs had a different person every year that was playing in beast mode rather it being Finley, parker, or ginobili and other players so don't come with that bullshit that Ducan had to do it on his own. If you want to look at dominance watch some youtube video of them and watch Shaq spend most of his career going up against double and triple teams while Ducan is always on some 1 on 1 shit. When they got rid of illegal defense to help stop Shaq these teams started closing in on him with 4 and 5 people. How the hell can yaw compare 1 of the most dominate forces in NBA history to 1 of the softest guys in NBA history? Like I said when Ducan retire the Spurs will still win but we see how the teams that Shaq left fell off without him.

SHAQ... NO DEBATE!!!!

Shaq was a FORCE OF NATURE!!!

Tim was way more skilled but Shaq was MORE DOMINANT...

Who would you rather build a team around ? it's Timmy.

Yeah and I can see you doing a press conference explaining why the owner fired you

Tim went to another Western Conference Final last year while Shaq was working with Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson.
Tim, easily.
But Shaq was just as easily the bigger star.

edit
Of course Tim was more skilled but the question was "better career" and while Shaq stole money in his later years from the Cavs and the Celtics, Tim is still a premier PF in the league, the greatest PF ever.

Duncan.

since this guy entered the league the spurs have been relevant.

one of the greatest ever.

if dude was playing in a bigger market or choose to be clownish like shaq he would be a bigger star, however he stays humble.

How can you say Shaq was more dominant? What is more dominate then 4 rings and orchestrating top 3 defenses every year? That's dominance at its finest.

Dudes use to say Duncan was boring and I never got that. Or maybe it was the Spurs as a whole they called boring. They were so efficient and so dependable. I guess that can be boring. I've never seen a big man that had the skills Duncan has/had.

I wanted to read the comments before I put my .02 cent in.
I voted for Tim because as it was said - he worked on his game more and kept Spurs relevant every year. I've had this debate before and the "dominant" thing always comes up, but when you're 7'1" and about 300lbs, your game consists of backing dudes down and dunking. He developed a baby jump-hook along the way...
ok?
Tim has a low-post game, a mid range J, that damn glass shot, and mastered the pick and roll.
Shaq? In fairness - he did what he was supposed to with his size and skill set, but it doesn't compare to Duncan's overall game.
O'Neal said in his retirement speech that his father scolded him over making his free-throws, he could have had hundreds of more points. But he obviously didn't care much for that. Shazam and records needed to be made. Duncan is as exciting as shuffleboard tournament, but was a superior player and as a result should be remembered for having a better career.

 Yessir

Stop posting.

How many 7ft PF do you know before 95?
Hes a fan of Franco Harris so u know what that makes him
not me nigga
I agree w/ this statement 100% about duncan but not KG, because KG was much slimmer..

But I do remember KG scared to play PF when he was younger.. he was a SF..:lol::lol:

Took a page and half..... but Tim D is a center....he played center in college but wasn't physical enough to play it in the NBA. Imagine if duncan had to play center and take the beating shaq did, he wouldnt have made to 36. Shit people thought he was on the downside of his career

Fam, this doesnt even make sense. Shaq is what 41 and duncan is 36.

How can you say Shaq was NOT more dominant??? :dunno:

Look at the numbers...

Not taking anything away from Tim but... They don't match up Shaq's numbers... :smh:

Reg. season or Playoffs... :smh:

Now, I don't question that Tim was better defensive player but that doesn't make him more dominant... :smh:

Clearly... Shaq was the more dominant player...

Shaq was the more physical player but he wasnt more dominant than Duncan because he scored more points. If Tim had just played one end of the floor and slacked on his defense, he might have scored more points too.

damn some great arguments for both. And some off topic offcolor ideas, wtf  lol

I voted Shaq, the fact he was able to be shipped around the NBA and still help contribute to turning organizations around/winning C'hips is incredible. Not many all-time greats can make that same claim. They had to stay w/one organization and wait til the formula was right or everything was in place, every piece of the puzzle, but Shaq did it in various places.

Great question tho, cuz Duncan is far from a bum. It's really hard to compare him (& his career stats) tho when his career isn't really finished or appearing to be over.

C'hip not C'hips

Shaq is more dominant because I've never seen anybody stop him... EVER!!!!

I've seen Shaq get outplayed but NEVER stopped...

I've seen Duncan get stopped... more than once...

I've seen Camby do it... I've seen KG do it... I've seen Amar'e do it... :smh:

I've NEVER... EVER seen one guy stop Shaq in his prime...

Plus... like I said... Look at the numbers...

If you want to say... Duncan was more consistent... I can agree... BUT... Dominant... meaning your play dominates the game... There's no question... It's Shaq...

Shaq can't either. Where are the championships for Phoenix, Cleveland, or Boston (who did better after he left)? He gave Miami one last gasp and that was it.

I've watched Shaq get handled by Alonzo Mourning and Robert Parrish during a Magic-Hornets game so it happened. He didn't exactly shine during the Lakers-Piston Finals when he was being guarded by Eldon Campbell. Everyone had bad games or series, it's part of basketball.
Shaq, like Charles Barkley, decided to score points and that's fine but Duncan score points, rebounded, and played tight defense and did it all at an elite level. That's dominance.

Like I said ... the number say otherwise... :smh:

... And they don't lie... :smh:

... AND.... I've have NEVER seen 'Zo handle Shaq... or Parrish maybe.. but 'ZO was FOOD... :smh:

The numbers say Shaq scored more points but had fewer rebounds and was a worse defender and only slightly more blocks. So one guy is a force on one end and the other guy is a force on both ends, the latter is the more dominant.

I didn't say you saw him do it, I said I saw it. When Zo sat, they didn't lose much when Chief came in (yeah, he was old as shit but still got a strong block on Shaq late).

The op question was who had a better career not who is more dominant.

mofos just inject their own words in the argument to make some kind of point.

Numbers only tell one story though. The numbers also don't show that Shaq has never played for a dominate defense like Duncan has and Duncan was the reason them Spurs teams were dominate defensively. They were built around him defensively. Shaq scored more points than Duncan because that's what the Lakers/Magic offense asked for Shaq to do. Duncan's game was to score for the Spurs when they needed a basket and he came through. If Duncan got all the touches Shaq got his stats would be more but that's not Popovich's offense. Pop's teams always were well rounded and very pass heavy. Lakers offense was to dump it to Shaq or let Kobe play one on one.

But I do agree Shaq was dominant offensively. But Duncan was just as dominant on the other side of the ball and his dominance equated to 4 championships.

I'll say it again... Tim was way more skilled... but Shaq was more dominant...
Defense is a skill...

Someone said Shaq didn't rebound:lol:
Someone said Shaq didn't play defense but look at the block shots:lol:
Why do Shaq have the higher FG%

Keep in mind Shaq's last few season made all of his stats drop but like I said in another thread 1 person says something and the rest of the people quote them not knowing that person has no idea what they are talking about. Plus the fact Ducan use to be getting dunked on like the rest of the league. Ole Timmys freethrow is nothing to write home about
