Emerils and Two sisters in New Orleans. Good food both places, complete different dress codes.

next time you are there do yourself a favor and go to jims on south street if you want a tourist steak....

you an venture off to some of the hood spots to get a good cheese steak too

Is Ishkabibbles still on South St? We used to go there trashed after TLA concerts.

I've done Juniors, Sylvia's and Russian Tea Room. For food both Juniors and Sylvia was so so. Sylvia's appeals more to tourists now. Barely remember Tea Room. Went there with clients years ago. Now Sparks Steakhouse in NYC was GREAT!

Sent from my HTC One S

that is where you get the best turkey or chicken cheese steaks

anybody every been to this place

sweetie-pie-resturant-front.jpg

Been to both locations. Food was great at the location in "The Grove". The other location was on par with most soul food spots.

As far as I know... Haven't been to south street in a minute, young dudes in Philly are out of control

Pretty much stopped going down there because of those flash mobs. I felt the need to be the responsible one, because if a group of teenagers wanted to do the man dance, I probably would have killed one of them. It was better to avoid the bee's nest, then to go next to it hope you do not get stung.

roscoe's chicken and waffles, but that was like 10 years ago.
ya'll cats been to tons of places.
i thought about some extra fat shit, like watching that "100 best places to chowdown" show, and try to map a route through a view states, take maybe a week vacation, see some sights and hit those restaurants. seems like a lot go spots on the east coast.

 I ate there a few months ago. The first time that shit was on point I liked it so much I went back again and the chicken was a little dry I was disappointed.

It's goes so hard bro!

Frenchy's in Houston got em beat tho

jims is far better than genos and pats combined.

been to pats and genos...never been to jims.

the hoagie factory on 72nd and ogontz is better than all dat shit.

Visited NYC a few months ago.

Sylvia's was incredibly mediocre, both food and service. I will NEVER go back again, no point. We tried chicken, fish, beans, greens, mac and cheese. Applebee's serves some garbage as good as that.

Red Rooster next door is miles better, Marcus Samuelson's place. And still, maybe a 7 on the 10 scale. Service and style was strong, and Marcus comes out and makes the table rounds, chatting folks up.

Junior's cheesecake tasted like they make 10,000 cheesecakes a day. They probably do. But your basic "Steakhouse cheesecake desert" is better.

There was a lot of good food in NYC, of course, but it wasn't at Sylvia's or Junior's.

All but the Russian Tea Room, and of course Genos. If youre Black and eat at Geno's, you have my permission to shoot yourself-I remember the first time I came upon it with an inkling to go, I was making my approach about 30 yards out when I noticed the large Daniel Faulkner mural (look it up if you need to) and about 15 racist lookin CACs in line lookin at me like I was in Howard Beach in '89. I was like "oh, fuck no" turned right around and went to Pats down the street and immediately began writing off the tourist niggas who pushed that spot on me like it was the only cheesesteak joint in Philly. I know some niggas might say I'm making race too big of an issue with that one, but those same niggas will probably laugh at a racist joke alone in a group of CACs. Most of my Philly cats that have had it say its average at best, so yeah fuck that place.

From NY and while people will try to tell you the food at Juniors isnt like it used to be, it actually was never that good, OK diner food quality at best. Its the cheesecake thats taken a nose dive since back day.

Sylvias is and always has been overrated trash and only is famous cause of the name. If you really wanted soul food in NY, you were headed down to the village for the Pink Teacup. Spoonbread and Amy Ruths were late additions but also 100x better than Sylvia.

Spent about 10 min in KC so I cant say if they're the best or not, but if you like KC BBQ, Arthur Bryants might just make you consider a move. Will test the diligence and faith of even the most devout Muslim.

Been in LA for a while now, went in the Derby back day b4 I moved it was cool from what I remember, nothing to write about- I must admit I have eaten at damn near every Roscoes, the most consistent of which for me has been the one on Pico. So far its the only place in LA where I can identify everything as being actual soul food, though I havent ventured to some of the hood spots that may be better.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:@ you thinking Pats is any different than genos

I have been to most of the places but this place hasnt been mentioned - nice steaks - costly and they don't take credit cards so bring cash

Junior's sells bullshit food - salty, deep-fried bullshit!!! Their cheesecake ain't even all that anymore.

Ate at Sylvia's but the food wasn't anything special. Taste like regular soul food I've eaten in the DFAC.

Brown Derby

The Brown Derby was the name of a chain of restaurants in Los Angeles, California. The first and most famous of these was shaped like a man's derby hat, an iconic image that became synonymous with the Golden Age of Hollywood.

I HAVE EATEN AT JUNIOR'S, THEY MAKE GREAT SHAKES, AND THE BREAKFAST IS OFF THE HOOK THERE.

BEEN TO ROSCOES 2 TIMES THOUGHT IT WAS WACK. CHICKEN HAS NO FLAVOR.

BEEN TO SYLVIA'S, CRAZY OVER RATED. YOU WANT BETTER GO TO COPELAND UPTOWN IN HARLEM. THAT IS WHERE THE HOOD EATS. SYLVIA'S IS FOR TOURIST WHO DONT KNOW NO BETTER.

Peter luger's steak is good, but nothing to brag about.

it's located in the hood, & it's funny to see all these white people lined up half way down the street to order, yet no Black people in line,,

:lol::yes::lol:

this phenomenon is all over the country bruh - seen it everywhere from lolo's in phoenix to breakfast klub in houston to sweet georgia brown's in dallas (to be fair, there are plenty of black folks @ the dallas & htown joints) and of course some of the others listed by the op

Man Halls was always my favorite coming up fan for real but man they are going overboard with the heart attack chicken.

Shaking pure salt on top of that greasy as chicken :smh::lol:

I ain't talkin seasoning salt pure rock salt

Yeah that's why I ONLY eat from any of those joints every blue moon. It's been a year at least since the last time I went to Hall's and a couple years since Rudy's.

Even though it's good, you can't eat that shit on a regular basis. :smh:

I hit up a few food trucks in Austin, Tx. that I saw on TV, and LOVED it! As for "famous" restaurants, a lot of them. Some were worth the press, and others were aight. There's a soul food spot in Savannah, Ga. called Marandy's that was featured on a Travel Channel show that was off the chain!

Peter Lugers = Overrated
Amy Ruth's = Sucks eversince CAC's took it over
Silvia's = Still decent
Dino's BBQ = Overrated
