I finally updated my wdtv and I still cant play some of the videos I got. I thought updating would fix this shit?

this is a great question.. i be fucking tight when i take mines to hotels and they got that shit on the back of the tv so you can't hook it up.
I noticed that and it doesn't come with a built-in wifi after reading some reviews. I still went ahead and picked me up one of these things on Christmas Eve. So far I've got nothing but good things to say about it. I'll like it even more once they start getting more updates for it.
My guess is you need a new hard drive.

Thought it was an issue with wd live fucking up hard drives only had it about 2 months. And now it will not play any avi, or xvid or mkv files only iso's and dvds. WTF

Just got mine and watching it now. Haven't sinc'ed it up with my home network because...well I dont really know how. Guessing it should be like setting up my laptop.

how did you organize them? are they all just dumped on the hd or does each movie have its own folder?
Each movie has its own folder
when you plug the hd in to your pc, how many movies do you see? try to do a comparison of whats not showing up. could be a file that didnt download all the way. or it might be some items in the recycle folder that didnt delete properly.

The Problem:
1. I downloaded about over 400 documentaries to the WD Passport
2. I'm using VLC media player
3. They all seem to work well on the laptop
4. The hard drive has a password for the laptop
BUT
When I connect the WD HD to the WD Mini ...nothing comes up other than few japanese words
does this mean I cant play my documentaries on TV because it has password or ?
Anyone how I would resolve this problem?

i would suspect the password on the hard drive.
remove the password protection and see what happens

Is there a "best" version with the least problems (latest version, oldest version, with/without the 1TB hard drive)? I thought about getting the 1TB model until brother JTIMMY said he has problems
the death of megaupload kinda killed its usage
i have my first one hooked up but rarely use it
bought the newest model months ago on sale and haven't even taken in out the box
