Not a meek fan but I understand why he's backtracking. It's a lose-lose situation for him. If he wins, he beat a washed up rapper although he gets a lil kudos from purest who're just going to download his shit and not come to his shows.
If he loses, he's outs a damper on his buzz and reignites the career of a rapper thats cold right now. I would ask to be paid if I were him.
he did ask to be paid.
And whats wrong with igniting someone elses career, especially if you like them and have respect for them.
And contrary to popular belief, losing battles don't put dampers on careers.
Kool Moe Dee- no one ever said he lost, and many said he won- but he didn't make a great second record.
Shan... well, people just discovered he wasn't that great, and I don't remember any records from him after the so called battle. The whole juice crew went on to do great things.
LL supposedly lost to Canibus, but he kept making hits, and Canibus dropped a dud.
Jay "lost" according to most- he's doing better than ever.
Freeway kept going and is still going. People really didn't like his voice for a whole album. The battle never mattered. It helped Cassidy get on, but Freeway had a more relevant and long lasting career. Cassidy actually NEEDS this to get back on.
50 and Ja RUle may be the only one that mattered, but that wasn't really a rap battle. People just got tired of Ja RUle.
50 lost to Kanye, Rick Ross, Jay Z, and a few others, but he really just-- fell off on his own.
Battles are battles. If you even stand up to get in one, I respect you for it. Well, if you show ANY real level of skill at it, I don't care if you "lose".
Especially if it's warranted.
