Breaking Bad *series finale 9/29/2013

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

And then he's reminiscing with Jesse about the past and acting like nothing ever happen.

Remember, Jesse is his only friend.

Who would he go too first if he gets bad news :dunno:

Eisenberg would have just dropped off the money, laid a guilt trip on him and bounced.

Damn man they did some Walking Dead type shit...string you along all season then drop the real shit @ the halfway point...now we gotta wait for the good shit

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

I enjoyed the cliffhanger they left on, as the show has touched upon Walt Whitman's poetry a number of times from 2008 - 2012, with them showing Walt reading from one of the books previously. Hell ... I was given a birthday card years back with one of Whitman's pieces. Like fam' said ... it'll make for an interesting close to the series in 2013. HANK has been so fucking close for so long ... and that flashback scene to Hank's place from season 3 or 4 with him asking Walt about the lab notes and the "W.W." inside of them. Wouldn't it be fucked up tying up all the loose ends to find that Walt fucked up by leaving a book of poetry atop the back of the toilet tank? Shit. Pun intended. Skylar knows about Jesse's involvement. HANK was hot on Jesse's trail back in season 3 which led to him assaulting Jesse on dude's doorstep. Walt was damn lucky to stay in the clear back then ... but obviously he can't skate free forever.

As for the metal towel dispender or hand dryer thing that was all dented up ... that's the same one Walt punched way back in season 3 or 4, or hell ... 2. Season 1? It's hard to say as this show has been on from 2008, and has the HUGE gaps in-between the fucking seasons and all. Whenever it was. He hauled off and punched that muthafucka hard back in the day. Could be them (Gilligan and writers) hinting that the cancer's back (as people were suspecting with Season 5 - Episode 1 ... with Walt taking some medication at the sink of the diner's washroom).

i think the show is havin' to shorten up scenes..because they only got 8 episodes this year..and next year ..instead of 12 or 13...

the writers of the show have already mapped out how the show is gonna end...but when you've planned for 13 episodes and the network tells you you only get 8...that's 5 hours of show you gotta cut out...

when hank finishes taking that sh!t tho

Looks like he punched that metal thing in the bathroom outta anger ie bad news from the scan? :dunno: idk

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

Disnt he punch that dispenser in season 1? He was looking at it because he remembered he punched it

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

LMAO @ the lengths people will go to defend a TV show because they happen to like it.

as if the show (and the writers) cannot be criticized individually or collectively.

:smh:

some of the episodes have been sub par. that is not a criticism of the show overall.

some of the writing has been lazy, and some of the direction has been questionable. that is not a criticism of the show overall.

singular episodes should not be evaluated for consistency or continuity?

i guess THE WIRE set the bar too high. it may be unrealistic for some to expect each episode to be a masterpiece.

That could be true

But I still stick by my theory that the cancers back.

It's not a coincidence that they keep having him do check ups and he was doing the coughing last season.

That scene would have been very random and had nothing to do with the show otherwise, and everything that happens in the show has something to do with what's going on or what will occur.

HF,

what is your take on gale boetticher giving walt that particular collection of poems though?

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

What happened the last two times Jesse got a lot of money?
In the back of Walter's mind Jesse is still the Captian: erratic and unstable on his own, the same little dude that got saved from a major DEA bust because he was fucking somebody's chick next door to his stash house.

jessefirstscene.gif

Nah let me stop. I don't even watch the show. I pick up the good parts of it from this thread. Cats on here should drop a script or something and see what it does because I feel like I'm reading about real people.

Yeah man ... killing off Gale (or Gayle/Gail) was fucked up on many levels, but had to be done by Walt/Jesse at the end of season 3 as it showed Gustavo Fring they weren't just some push-over pussified punks. They actually could fuck around with the violence too. G' and Walt actually had a good bond there in the lab, and respected each others' knowledge & educational backgrounds. Walt was impressed that G' wasn't just some dummy that Gustavo put on the payroll. They had their coffee together, etc. G' gave him that book as a token of friendship or gratitude, not knowing he'd get shot point blank range by Jesse thereafter (per Walt's go-ahead command). I liked how they pieced it back to the dramatic scene from season 4 with Hank looking over the LAB NOTES and also the scene wherein he showed Walt and Walt Jr' that footage (music video) of G' and shit. Basically like ... I wonder what these initials W.W. are for? * At that point Walt offers up the explanation that they're of the poet, Walt Whitman. I.E. - the "other" W.W., as per G's inscription as to Walt being "the other" W.W. himself  . I dug that. It'll be interesting to see what approach HANK takes come season 5 - part 2 in 2013. Most of us here saw him as some "asshole cowboy, renegade CAC DEA member" back in the earlier seasons. But the more dirt Walt and others have done over the seasons ... and how close HANK has always been (just 1 step away) from solvin' all this shit, and how he's mellowed out after the fucking shootout in the parking lot in season 3 - episode 7 with the twins ... you actually find yourself pulling for him a bit. He ISN'T such an asshole like we pegged him for from 2008 - 2010/2011. He's actually pretty good at his job.

With said inscription to W.W. from G.B. in the fucking book, and HANK being on the trail of GB and at one point even thinking G' was "Heisenberg" ... it'll be interesting to see HOW Walt tries to talk his way outta this one. This'll be interesting in 2013. It's still a damn shame the breaks are so long between seasons though. Getting 2 months of show (for a half season) and waiting 10 more months for the remaining 8 eps. They're lucky the ratings have steadily gone up every year from 2008. They've got a growing fanbase and were able to tell their story ... but shit ... they sure test the fans/viewers by being on lay-away so long.

I don't understand the wisdom in waiting 10 months. Of course the hardcore fans will still tune in but I think this may turn off some of the casual fans

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

On a side note ... watching it last night pops was like - "I have a feeling something bad's gonna happen. The baby's too close to the pool." I noted they wouldn't take their eyes away for her that long. * I was waiting to see if those POTENTIAL spoilers out there online from recent weeks were gonna come true. Word on the streets (online) was that there was gonna be an argument or dispute at the end of the episode, with Walt hauling off and choking SKYLAR out in the kitchen for whatever reason. No explanations were given online, but that's what was floating around. I was waiting to see if HANK/MARIE/WALT JR' were gonna depart, and if shit was gonna go down ... prior to the scene with Hank going inside to drop a deuce & read some Whitman poetry.

The guys on the Breaking Good podcast were explaining this in recent months. Basically they put it this way.

- Breaking Bad is one of the more popular specialty cable series in recent years
- The ratings have gone up every year since season 1 (2008)
- They have a devoted fanbase
- This means more publicity for the show
- More interviews / more articles written about the show
- As opposed to a 13 - 16 episode 1-stretch final season
- Do it in 2 split seasons of 8 and 8
- As many of the bigger network series have fucked around with theirs in past years on ABC, NBC, FOX and others. Unfortunately shows like Heroes (and Prison Break) and others sort of fell off, viewers lost interest, etc.
- In this case ... for a smaller series with just a few million viewers ... it means "2 season premieres" / more chances for magazine and TV guide/times-type covers, and more. More chance to hype it up, etc.
- Plus it takes them several months to complete a season (which usually just lasts 13 eps) so it gives them ample time to work on shit. Hopefully they're taking their time with the final 8, as noted ... many of us were finding the current Season 5 - Part 1 rushed in terms of storyline/plot/writing.

I doubt that even tho the time in between is long...I wish they did it like TWD w/ like maybe a 3 month hiatus

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

I heard about this show for years, I just started watching this season, because it was its last. Can someone just give me a quick catch up on who is Gb?

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

a'ight..so it appears..that the Walt Whitman book of poetry may not have been given to Walt by Gale Boetticher..his former lab assistant...but by Gretchen Schwartz..his former college sweetheart...whose maiden name is "Black"...and went on along with her husband/Walt's college buddy.. Elliot Schwartz..to start Gray Matter...the billion dollar company...

that better explains what the book was doin' in his home...

That would seem more plausible, if they were both into Walt Whitman like that. But it's still a big coincidence that Gail and his ex both refer to Whitman as "WW" and Walt as the "other" WW. But I would still buy that explanation before believing him just leaving the damn book out, which is evidence that can tie him to a murder, for anyone to see. Not when they went through so many pains to cover that murder up in the first place.

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

Netflix...

Man I aint finna sit and watch that shit, I was hoping it could be summed up in a couple sentences. No matter, Reading back Man of Steal inadvertently answered my question. Im just watching it cuz nothing else is on, its not that serious.

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

Idk...I can go either way on that...but I think he knew tho just like Lydia was able to surmise that for those 9 men to fall Mike HAD to be out the way...it also goes w/ him having the gun on him after seeing that it was Walt @ the door and suspecting there was a "bomb" in the bag
you forget Jessie has a good heart to a fault.
Walt was very ambigous in his response sayiing Mike is done and Jess assumed the best.

nah, he asked him did mike get out?

walt said yeah.

This is a half season. I think people are forgetting that and making assumptions as if these 8 episodes are standalone.

Let's let the entire season play out first.

For people bitching about the lawyer, I think it's supposed to show that he's just some cheap lawyer who's willing to do what mike wants because he can't get real money any way else, it also shows that while Saul is a "bus bench" lawyer he does know his business and is actually a very good lawyer.

With Mike's lawyer rolling, it's simply a man who didn't think he's a criminal, just doing a job, never thinking he's gonna get caught. 14 hours being grilled and shown all the dirt they have shook him up.

Mike's mistakes all hark back to the half measures episode. This season has been full of Mike making bad calls - so while he's a great soldier, he's clearly not a leader. If Gus sent him to kill Lydia, she'd be dead. He's better at taking orders than making the call himself.

fat boy was NOT mikes attorney!

And then he's reminiscing with Jesse about the past and acting like nothing ever happen.

Remember, Jesse is his only friend.

Who would he go too first if he gets bad news :dunno:

Eisenberg would have just dropped off the money, laid a guilt trip on him and bounced.

this river said eisenberg!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

i think thats the truth on the book.

but of course hank will perceive it another way.

Long story short, he is someone who could tie Walter to Meth production. That's all that really matters as far as understanding that last scene.

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

watching this episode & season,

i can say lydia is a survivor. she knew how to sell herself.

she was cunning & no dummy! knew he was gone kill that ass,

based on asking for 9 names.

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

That would seem more plausible, if they were both into Walt Whitman like that.

plausible, yes. but already refutable.

remember that they have the handwriting exemplar from gale boetticher's notes. and it matches perfectly.

also, it would be unusual for a heterosexual woman to give walt that collection of poems.

walt whitman's leaves of grass was not the merely a statement of gale boetticher's professional admiration for walt (via When I heard the Learn’d Astronomer) but a proclamation of his homosexual feelings for walt.

nah, he asked him did mike get out?

walt said yeah.

not quite.

walt cleverly replied "he's gone."

which, of course, holds a different meaning for jesse and walt.

walt: mike is deceased

jesse: mike successfully fled

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

maybe its me, but I got a funny feeling that Walter and Skylar son Walt Jr.
not being in a stable environment might make him
use a product of that "blue" crystal meth that Walters manufactures

Thats why Skylar stance of keeping the kids away is
might do more harm then good

maybe speculation on my part

Re: The Official " Breaking Bad Season 5 " thread

nah, he asked him did mike get out?

walt said yeah.

That was @ the garage not @ Jesse house which was after if I recall...in any event I said I can go either way on that since it was kinda ambiguous...my guess tho is Jesse was smart enough to put 2+ 2 together

Ya but that convo took place before Walt had the 9 guys killed...I'm guessing the 2nd time they met after it happened Jesse had a better understanding of what "gone" meant and thus his paranoia :dunno:

 I do remember Gale having that wild video that Hank was laughing at! But if this is true, then why would Walt keep it?

The last season was just on another level

i don't think they can match that ,but we ill see next year

Damn thats a long wait
