I didn't think so, but I hear people say it. I know it took me way too long to beat that shit because the problem with those GTA game is they got way too much shit going on at one time. You got missions from this dude, this bitch, this cop, this asshole, etc all ready to be hit on the map at any given time. And then you just end up going on a rampage instead of doing the missions and making the cops chase you with 5 stars till they kill you. Sleeping Dogs only gives you one cop mission, one triad mission, and maybe a few favors and races at once. The shit is more focused and story-driven as a result. Not once have I felt the need to just go on a rampage in this game. The story got me hooked and twisted because you actually make a real connection with these triad cats that you're dealing with everyday...even though you're an undercover cop too. I almost hope dude turns on the cats at some point in the game. Basically, I give a fuck about the main character AND the characters he interacts with in-game. This is something I can't ever say about GTA4.

This is what happens to me with every single GTA game..I use to think It was just my attention span but I could play Shamu(sp) without a problem and finished it. My experience with GTA almost stopped me from picking up RED DEAD REDEMPTION but I stepped out my box for that and I am glad I did. Shit I didnt play Batman Arkham Asylum because of my GTA phobia and when I gave Arkham City a spin I felt like a total dumb ass for not playing AA

Speaking of non-multiplayer games, any of you tried these two very nice indie games?

Ive had my eye on that deadlight for a minute cause Limbo was my shit. I downloaded the demo and blazed it up. The overall look was fantastico but the game in my opinion was boring and I couldn't see how it could keep me interested for hours on end but I only played the demo so I could be wrong...what is your take if you have the full jawn.

The GTA series are my favorite games of all time but they can definitely learn something from Sleeping dogs. Hard to put my finger on it but there is something I like a little better about sleeping dogs. The shooting in gta is better and I didn't think I would like a combat heavy game like this but I actually like the hand to hand combat better than shooting in sleeping dogs. In gta it's the opposite. I like how you can actually get away from the cops in this game, in gta, 3 stars and you basically have to get arrested to move on in the game. Little things like the distance meter in sleeping dogs go a long way. And I do that action hijack just for fun a lot of times because it's hilarious

I respect your opinion, I just don't agree with it. I hated the tone of GTA4 which is what drove me to Saints Row 2. Red Dead Redemption was my SHIT! My thing is that I refuse to be a fanboy for any publisher/developer. I give every game a fair shot to impress it (even CoD). But I don't ever fall for the hype engine of a game series. I loved Mass Effect, it's one of my all-time favorite game series (and I ain't mad about ME3's ending either) yet I never got hype about it until I played it. People on BGOL THINK I hype shit up, but I'm trying to get folks to step out of their boxes and try something else for a change. That mentality alone is what's killing the gaming industry and causing studios to shut down. Sorry for the rant.

When GTA 4 came out it got a 10 out of 10 across the board on most gaming review sites. Prior to that, a game rarely got a perfefct 10 if ever. I think I heard only one game ever got a perfect score in history, I dunno how true that is though. So yes back in 2008 when it came out the hype did play a factor in the high scores it got I believe. Cause I remember standing in line at midnight LOL for almost 3 hours lol. Along side me there were older professional kats who looked like they worked on wall street, housewives, attractive women, blue collar/ white collar workers etc etc all lining up to get this game. And the more people you saw standing in line, is the more you felt you had to get that game yourself.

With Hindsight being 20/20 once you take away the hype, GTA 4 was a really brilliant and imressive game IMO based on my enjoyment of it, but not the 10 out of 10 review scores it was getting across the board from ever which way. I think the GTA brand became bigger than the game itself which is why it was recieving all those perfect scores at the time.

Rarely do I give a fuck about anything you have to say...until now. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo64 got a perfect 10/10 score years ago. It's still one of the Top 10 games ever made on consoles. And yes, the hype and namebrand came be bigger than the game itself in many cases. CoD is proof of that alone. When a game can be non-stellar and still get high scores you know there's a problem with the people reviewing the games.

Example: This game came out the same day as Final Fantasy XIII. Didn't sell well at all, yet was the superior Japanese RPG of that year.

when sleeping dogs is derived from San Andreas itself with its game play

I'll check this sleeping dogs joint out it looks promising but dude to even try to shit on GTA is nuts when all these open world games are competing with the originator which is GTA

I don't see how Sleeping Dogs is derived from San Andreas at all. It's derived more from Yazuka than anything else and GTA secondly. You should play before you assume.

Umm this game got me.... when i first started i was like eh its cool but idk.... now im deeper in the game got my face and fightjng up.... and im really diggin it... played for 5 hours straight doin mainly side missions and looking for shrines....



Did not know most cars have a tire iron in the back smh .... damn that would have saved me me a lot of hassle....

Still has a few major glitches... like not being able to counter the grapplers most of the time... car valet only bring me a motor cycle... amandas gps point, etc...

Apologies I read your post incorrectly I meant to say you cant grab them.Grapplers have quick kicks that are hard to see if you arent paying attention to them and you have to be easy with the button presses when they grab because the counter button changes.

Demo was fun replayed it several times but I had a feeling I'd get tired of the fight scenes...plus one thing I hate about open-world games is the chase scenes...whether it's by foot car boat w/e that shit gets annoying after a while and I can damn sure predict this game has a bunch of chasing shit down...still on the fence about it...if I could get it for $20 I'd say fuck it and buy it

Just bought it this weekend and I gotta say I'm diggin' it.

I figured I'd like it since I liked True Crime: NY, which seems to be forgotten and this was originally supposed to be True Crime: Hong Kong. I thought that game was cool but it was MAD glitchy.

I actually kinda like that it's mostly melee fighting as opposed to shooting. I haven't had a fighting action-adventure game since Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks and I loved that game and hadn't heard of more like it. Shit reminds me of one of my favorite old-school games - the "Streets of Rage" series

It's prettier than GTA, IMO. The setting being in Hong Kong really helps that though.

The missions aren't boring and repetitive. The side missions are cool. I like the foot chase missions, and the drug busts, and I haven't got into much of else aside from those and the story.

SD is more fun than GTA but not as fun as Saints Row 3. It's like right in the middle, like not too serious, but not too wacky.

GTA was way too boring and serious for me. I tried to play through it one more time last month after finishing it a year ago, but I couldn't finish it again. I didn't really like Niko, they tried to make him a sociopath with a conscience (I mean the muthafucka been wanting to kill the guy the whole game and then when its time to kill him, he either decides to let him go or he kills him and feels like shit about it). I'm more for the "get whoever needs to be got" attitudes of CJ and Tommy Vercetti.

I can't really say anything too bad about Sleeping Dogs. Everything's great.

The only pet peeves I have is that the shooting reticle is hard to see; you can't run in your apartment; and when you miss a counter attack cue, Wei just stands there and does a pose and allows himself to be hit

Okay, finally got a few days in on it. It's a good game but should be compared to True Crime, not GTA. It's fun but it's definitely not "killing" GTA right now. The combat system is way better of course (the main thing that reminds me of True Crime). I'm cool with it, can't really complain and it's as addictive as a sandbox game should be.

But, since we're comparing, I just find that the vehicle control is a lot stiff, lack of got real-time physics which cause for more unique moments and the map seems a bit small and haven't found as much to get into (unless there's more to it later). Those are just a few reasons why I'm saying it's no GTA, but it is good.​

V is gonna be that shit tho!!!. I think its gonna have everything from "Tijuana Mexico" to San Diego, San Francisco to middle places like Sacramento to Area 51 outside of Las Vegas. Rockstar said its going to be their biggest game ever. There are roomers of the map being 5 times bigger than IV. I'm hoping even bigger than just cause 2!! Yes I am an extremist! I was hoping it would come out october/November, but after playing sleeping dogs, I know Rockstar aint gonna take any chances by not "coming correct". I hope the multiplayer is more than 16 players at once.


I'm hoping everything is customizable in V like SR 2 was and and then some.

Rented this weak ass game from redbox an took it back less than a day later. Shit was ass the hand to hand was cool but I just didn't like the game. Couldn't hold my interest
