Wow...I don't see how this thread spent off of the original topic posted (meaning ignoring the content and disregard the sarcastic title of thread).
Props to the OP for the posting. As for it's content, how do so many here quickly find fault in an attempt to better our country? It has to start somewhere. While most are concerned with "Street Law" the posting clearly states that there will be additional funding for teachers to teach. Just because it said "especially math and science" doesn't mean the other subjects are being neglected. Look at everyone on this site....talking about which phone is better Samsung GSIII or Nexus. Correct me if I'm wrong but neither are built in America, and they're not America's product. Technology is increasing at a rapid rate in other countries but America's arrogance have people brainwashed that America is ahead of everybody else which in-turns leaves us stagnant. America hasn't built anything that surpassed the Blackbird (Lockheed SR-71) since the 60s, and what I mean by that is nothing truly topped that technology which kept America ahead of everyone (the leader in technology). Other countries are beginning to kick ours in the ass with technology and we have people in this thread worried about English and Social Studies?
I'm sorry, am I missing something? America's history? If I'm correct, Whites in America has taken credit for a large number of inventions and technological advances from the Blacks in America based on the fact of them not being able to read or allowed to be seen in the public's eye. They weren't allowed to even know that the truth was in their faces the whole time because of not being able to read (understand more than just the basics because a lot of things were worded in Legalese form). Did anyone forget the Tuskegee project/program and WHY so many were infected? Did many of you forget the Tuskegee Airmen and what they had to go through, even hear such comments like "those people are too incompetent to operate such sophisticated equipment"?
Simple math (meaning knowledge/awareness): the more ignorance and arrogance grow the further behind we as a people become. Once the educational level falls short, then we as a people, are FOREVER enslaved and subjected to whomever is educatedly in-charge. Yes, EDUCATEDLY...I've created a word that doesn't even exist. Why?, because times have changed (meaning things are calling for change and/or evolution) and I understand the definition of the base-word "educate", and it's addition "d" which puts it in a past-tense form then adding "ly" which converts it to an adjective meaning a description (being used to describe something), thus giving birth to a new word (a new adjective).
Now, can we all see how education plays a part and why it's so vital? What the article is stating is that they're attempting to better education by making more funds available for the use of compensating exceptional teachers that may teach and inspire the next possible innovative mind to contribute wonders to the world on America's behalf. It's stating that it also want to give a little bit more attention to math and science which are the bases of technology since the world is promoted through the media that it's technology driven. But again, maybe I'm missing something.
