Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Setting

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

White people don't love Black people, they never will... But we continue to wait for their love and validation like good little children... We want their Oscars, their acceptance in the workplace, their acceptance in their neighborhoods, their women, their money...

...If we are not self sufficient, or if we continue to wait for our white godfathers to endow us with means we will have nothing...

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

I wonder if they did make it, would they make storm a love interest in his younger years?

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

all this back and forth nonsense is not needed..its real simple..money and power..the people who have all the money, also have all the power..

And on a side note, majority of "black movies" dont do well at the box office because "black people" dont support them unless it has tyler perry written all over it...

I cant think of one black movie recently that did anything at the box office outside of think like a man, maybe that disney princess movie but that about it..for whatever reason if its not a dumb ass comedy "black folks" dont support it..

And what i mean by support is black movies have to hit close or above the 100mil mark consistently!!!

To be honest, if all black folk supported everything black that came to box office, these issues would begin to work themselves out...

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

Seriously, and don't take it wrong, fuck what you think! The Black Panther is every bit as interesting a character as Batman if you are familiar with the character.

I Dont think they are...BP is a master Tactician Just like Bats...BUt he's much stronger and agile...

I think the real reason they wont do it is because BP can take down each avenger (minus hulk and thor of course)...To do a BP movie correctly his importance would be a small notch ahead or on par with Iron Man..

I'd rather like someone said feature him in another movie..Maybe have someone steal something from wakanda and bring it to the US(u know since it's so hard to use cgi now a day*coughs*avatar:hmm: ) and have TChalla swoop in and kick everyone's ass sort of like how thor came in on the avengers movie..:yes:

I don't know you personally so please don't take it as an attack, however, what you've stated above is so much bullshit that I couldn't remain quiet. You speak about blacks supporting movies, however, are the black films getting as much marketing endorsement as the other 'white' films, furthermore, are they being played in all Cinemas or a select few? Is any major distributor such as Fox/Warner/Sony pushing said films? Those are the questions and even answers many have alluded to in earlier posts and its the main reason why black films don't do well, hell even the Tyler Perry shows are given a 'limited' budget, he's just smart and caters to a certain niche hence he's Lion Gates 'King Midas' any other day and its a no go!

Damn that's it so if all blacks..Including babies, the handicap, sick, and the elderly have to support the black movies (13.1% out of 100 since 2011) then it should be all good huh?

Do you have facts on blacks not supporting our movies??? I think you trying to take a discussion about the bullshit excuse given and turn it into a "blame the blacks" rant:confused:I mean really are you mad?

Being self sufficient....in what sense? If you are advocating not to work in their workplace, where will we get our resources, income to maintain our communities?

At least for the time being, we have to deal with White people one way or the other. We either have to battle them in the workplace or do any of you have a better to improve our per capita income.

1. black support alone isn't going to make a black cast film do 100 mil BO... thats ridiculous.

2. all black folks don't have the same tastes and interest in the subject matter NOR SHOULD WE..

its a HUGE mistake to market and niche black cast films for just a black audience. White cast films have NEVER been marketed as "for white people" even when the laws segregated the theaters. YOU don't even consider a movie like The Avengers or Ted as "white" films.. even tho those films have NOTHING BUT WHITE PEOPLE IN THEM.

You don't have to consider how you can "relate" to shit or any other obstacles and criteria thats applied to black cast films..

you see a film thats all white cast and as long as it has all the elements you like in it (including the white people) you'll plop down your cash at the BO and support that shit with no question.

But the majority of white people (and others) don't see a black cast film in the same way...they see a bunch of black faces on the screen and immediately think "this isn't my story" or "I can't relate to this.." which is a load of BULLSHIT.

So what your talking about is load of BULLSHIT too:smh::smh:

please stop it.:hmm:

1. as of the 2010 census bureau, there were 42mill people who identified as blacks in america(by the way everyone and their momma knows that those #s are low) so that would make it about 20mill adults right...so to destroy your first point if every single 1 of the adults bought a movie ticket to support a "black film" that would be about 160-200mill for that movie, depending upon ticket prices...now we all know that every single person isnt going to buy a ticket, but lets say half did consistently, that would be 80mil-100mil...and their will be other ethnic groups that would support the movie as well so the movie would do atleast 100mil consistently

2. It doesnt matter what are taste are, not the issue or the point..what matters is uniting to show our monetary strength so that we can begin to help change our futures..we have to come together 1st..they have already proven they dont give a fuck about us!!

3. Its only a huge mistake because we dont come together to support it..do u think those execs that run hollywood would view movies that were market only to us a huge mistake if they were doing 100mil consistently, nope...do u think they view tyler perry movies as mistakes...

dude we already know what whites think about us..we already know that hollywood wont give us budgets to do certain movies, we already know that they very rarely try to show us in a positive light, etc..etc..

which is all the more reason to come together from an economic/monetary standpoint to help change our future..this isnt the end all or be all, and it takes more things to occur, im not saying this and only this, but its a vital/huge part; IF WE DONT PUT OUR MONETARY RESOURCES TOGETHER SHIT WILL NEVER CHANGE!!!

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

If Wakanda is too much, but Space Vikings is just great, then introduce Black Panther in the next Avengers movie, have them going to Wakada to help him save his country from HYDRA and taking back his thrown from his murdered father, its not that hard to do, it will generate interest.

But we have to show up and support this shit as well, not how we just let Red Tails fall to the wayside

And do these fucks not know how big Africa is, you make this movie, you could make bank in Africa alone and open a new damn market

PERFECT EXAMPLE IS BATMAN. YA'LL KATS BEEN GOING CRAZY FOR THIS FUCKING MOVIE SINCE LAST SUMMER.

I DON'T FUCKING SEE THE BIG DEAL ABOUT THE NEW BATMAN MOVIE.
PLUS THE FACT THAT IT IS PRETTY MUCH A ALL WHITE CAST.
MORGAN FREEMAN'S TOKEN ROLE DOESN'T STOP THE NEW BATMAN MOVIE FROM BEING A ALL WHITE MOVIE.

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS REALLY DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT BLACK MOVIE GOERS.

WHITE AUDIENCES DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT BLACK CINEMA. WHY DO BLACK FOLK CONTINUE TO SUPPORT A RACIST MOVIE INDUSTRY?

I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN AVATAR.:yes::yes:

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

"Marvel Studios sources indicate a Powerman and Ironfist film is rumored to be in the works with Owen Wilson playing Ironfist and Chris Rock as Powerman. Rock is reportedly beefing up for the role with an extensive exercise regimen, supplements, and the assistance of Mackie Shilstone. The project was originally stalled when the director insisted on the two heroes being bisexual, an idea vehemently rejected by Rock."

Is this from The Onion????

:lol::lol:

Chris Rock?????????

I still haven't seen avatar.:yes::yes:

not supporting "white movies" isnt the issue and to be frank, it wont change anything...their dollars are allot longer than ours..so their movies will continue to make money..the real issue is just blacks coming together consistently to support our shit!!!!!!...if we do that, that will start the ball rolling!!!

curious what do you suggest they do in the interm?

making hollywood and the rest of this country realize we can come together from an monetary/economic standpoint!!

EXACTLY!!!! This is a real solution. Black Folks especially those with the means need to come together on a much larger scale. Leave the fucking Spinning Rims, Cristal and Bling shit alone. How about owing a few royalties instead?

For example: If they White Hollywood doesn't want to make Black Panther..Cool. Sell us or loan us the rights we'll make the movie ourselves...I guarantee you it will make money, particularly in this comic-book to screen age. Especially if its NOT advertise as a BLACK superhero movie...

anything other than going to the movie theater religiously every fucking weekend to watch mediocre all white movies. Avengers and Spider Man or too more examples. All white cast that got a shit load of black dollars.

full disclosure, I'm not a real big movie buff. Haven't been for years. I'm more of a documentary guy.

Black people go to the movies at a higher percentage than fucking white people. that is a fucking fact that has been pointed out time and time again, and still Hollywood continues to disrespect the black dollar. Black folk need to boycott the entire Hollywood movie industry until they start respecting the black dollar.

black folk need to start supporting black cinema and boycotting white cinema. Period. that is the only option. That is the only way we are going to get interesting, multidimensional black characters and stories that make it to the big screen.

like I said, I'm not really a movie buff, so I don't really care. I have little interest in seeing the new batman movie. I'll probably wait for the movie to leak online before I see it.

WHO HERE HAS PAID TO SEE EVERY TYLER PERRY FILM? SHIT ANY TYLER PERRY FILM??
pariah-movie-poster.jpg

WHO HERE HAS SEEN THE BLACK INDY FILM PARIAH (about a young black lesbian coming out to her family)??

beasts-of-the-southern-wild-poster.jpeg

WHO HERE HAS SEEN BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD?

If you haven't (and its okay if you haven't) then you blow your own points out the water.

The notion that all we need to get is full black support is all of our problems are solved is just erroneous. Think Like A Man and the most popular Tyler Perry film both got as much black support as they can muster and both didn't break 100 million in the theaters. And if you add africa as a overseas distributor...well this is what that looks like:

THINK LIKE A MAN
Domestic: $91,547,205
+ Foreign: $1,717,834
= Worldwide: $93,265,039

FOREIGN TOTAL
East Africa
Ghana
Nigeria
South Africa (Entire Region)
United Kingdom
Bahrain
United Arab Emirates

Meanwhile Crazy, Stupid, Love another romantic comedy thats a contemporary to TLAM has a distribution deal that looks like this:

CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE
Domestic: $84,351,197
+ Foreign: $58,500,000
= Worldwide: $142,851,197

FOREIGN TOTAL
Argentina
Australia
Austria
Belgium
Bolivia
Brazil
Bulgaria
Chile
Colombia
Croatia
Czech Republic
Denmark
East Africa
Ecuador
Egypt
Estonia
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hong Kong

Iceland
Israel
Italy
Lebanon
Lithuania
Mexico
Netherlands
New Zealand
Norway
Peru
Philippines
Poland
Portugal
Romania
Russia
Serbia
Singapore
Slovakia
Slovenia
South Africa (Entire Region)
Spain
Sweden
Turkey
Ukraine
United Arab Emirates
United Kingdom
Uruguay
Venezuela

anyone notice the difference...

The all white movie is put into theaters all over the world..regardless of color or enthicity..from white to yellow to brown to black EVERYONE WANTS TO (HAS TO) SEE THE WHITE MOVIE..

The black movie is seen in only the black countries and the UK which has an increasing and vocal black minority. Thats it.

In order to offset lack of white support we need to foster relations and support with and from other people of color..that means latinos and asians and indians and anyone else we can think of.

That means NOT promoting black cast films as "BLACK FILMS" but as the genre they fall into..Comedy, Action, Scifi, Thriller etc.

That means doing films with co stars who are asian and indian and latino to draw those audiences in.

It also means blacks should be supporting THIER films and projects as well.

We can't do this alone or should we. :smh:

You've said quite a-lot so lets start with these few. I personally have seen "two" tyler perry movies. Tell me how often should I support Mr.Perry portraying the same non-sense?

As for you other movies until today I never heard of them. Is this my fault? Should I go out of my way to find these movies and watch them where exactly? What theater were showing them? How many screens?

the point is its ridiculous to expect or demand 100% or even HALF of all black people to watch every single black film that comes out.

i think if they made another blade and do it right it would be succescful. blade was the reason why they started these marvel movies which led xmen and spiderman to do so well.

Yeah, had it not been for da success of da first Blade movie, none of those Marvel movies after it never would've seen da light of day.

Thats perfectly fine, But you didn't answer my questions. To answer the second part of what you wrote...

IMO any plan that seeks to EXCLUDE white people is likely to be LIMITED and is Short-Sighted. Call me naive, But my thinking is simply this:

If the product is GOOD most people will buy it.

1) Of-course initially we need to start establishing GOOD products....NOT THE MEDEA SHIT EITHER!!!
2) It shouldn't be marketed as "Black" anything.
3) EXPAND beyond the typical SOCIAL black movies(boyz in the hood, medea, baber-shop etc)

Just some quick thought as a matter of fact heres a movie I promoted on the board and would have seen IF it was playing in a movie theater...

Here's another example think about the movie "THE MATRIX" how many Blacks were in that movie compared to whites? Not only that but Blacks in POWER positions? Guess what? Nobody cared because overall it was a GOOD MOVIE....

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

Yes, You have to go out of your way. These smaller independent films don't have huge pr budgets to get the word out. No commercials, you'll be lucky if you find a poster in your area. They usually come out in limited release in a small # of theaters in select cities. Sometimes as part of festivals. Sometimes they buy all the seats upfront and then sell the tickets themselves. It can vary.

In any event, you do have to seek them out if you want to support them. Black media blogs (not the gossip ones) will usually have insight on what films are out or about to be out that people should go and see.

It's not rocket science......Hollywood white people know that white people won't spend money to see a black hero.
So they'll just keeping remaking white superhero movies, over and over and get the white dollars, and the blacks of
course from you dudes who rush to go see Spiderman,Superman,Batman etc.

See.......................Simple.

Peace

If money is a concern, Have Will Smith to star as Black Panther.........that will big the masses to watch this movie internationally.

the issue is the budget not the star.

Marvel wants to do it on the cheap. They want 2 tiers of films. Big joints like Avengers and smaller ones like Punisher. They want to do under $50M for a smaller film like this. But they don't think they can create Wakanda for $50M. That's why they don't see it happening. They would need to find a way to create it for that budget and that would take someone passionate about that specific project in house. They aren't passionate about it.

Antman is viable because as a PG or PG13 they can go all mysteries of science/honey i shrunk the kids and amaze children the the size anomalies. the story won''t matter the kids will eat up the visuals. Panther needs a full on origin story. The only way to bypass that was the suggestion to have The Avengers going to Wakanda to help him reclaim his throne and that's a big budget film.

They would need someone to show them how to create Wakanda on the cheap without it looking cheap. Somebody like Sam Jackson who is already part of the Marvel family would have to step in with a plan to pull it off. He already has a successful production company so it's in the realm of possibility.

Something came to mind after reading the Fantastic Four 609 today, could it be the reason its so expensive because Marvel already sold the rights to that franchise as well as FF 4 to Warner/Fox whoever has the claim to it now?

rights to any marvel comic that marvel does not own revert back to marvel if that other studio doesn't produce a film within a certain # of years. So if a FF doesn't come out soon Marvel gets the rights back. but that has nothing to do with Panther or the avengers other than the fact hat marvel would love to have all their properties back so they can tell stories that include more of the marvel universe.
