Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set
NOT TAKING IT AS AN ATTACK AT ALL..
THE ONLY WAY TO GET THOSE STUDIOS, EXECS, ETC..TO CHANGE IS THRU MONEY AND OR LEGISLATION..NOW WE KNOW THAT LEGISLATION ISNT HAPPENING, SO THE NEXT STEP IS MONEY..OUR MONEY!!
we all know that we have the short end of the stick when it comes to anything in this country, anything..so we have to do things allot differently just to get a little respect or acknowledgment..so there is more than enough black PEOPLE AND MONEY TO START TO CHANGE OUR POSITIONS AS IT RELATES TO HOLLYWOOD BUT ITS ABOUT COMING TOGETHER...
AS OF 2010, 42 MILLION BLACKS, ROUGHLY 20MILL BLACK ADULTS, CHECK THE CENSUS BUREAU...AND THOSE #S ARE ALWAYS LOW!!...AND IM NOT PLAYING THE BLAME GAME..IM SPEAKING ONLY FROM THE STANDPOINT OF US COMING TOGETHER MONETARILY
1. as of the 2010 census bureau, there were 42mill people who identified as blacks in america(by the way everyone and their momma knows that those #s are low) so that would make it about 20mill adults right...so to destroy your first point if every single 1 of the adults bought a movie ticket to support a "black film" that would be about 160-200mill for that movie, depending upon ticket prices...now we all know that every single person isnt going to buy a ticket, but lets say half did consistently, that would be 80mil-100mil...and their will be other ethnic groups that would support the movie as well so the movie would do atleast 100mil consistently
2. It doesnt matter what are taste are, not the issue or the point..what matters is uniting to show our monetary strength so that we can begin to help change our futures..we have to come together 1st..they have already proven they dont give a fuck about us!!
3. Its only a huge mistake because we dont come together to support it..do u think those execs that run hollywood would view movies that were market only to us a huge mistake if they were doing 100mil consistently, nope...do u think they view tyler perry movies as mistakes...
dude we already know what whites think about us..we already know that hollywood wont give us budgets to do certain movies, we already know that they very rarely try to show us in a positive light, etc..etc..
which is all the more reason to come together from an economic/monetary standpoint to help change our future..this isnt the end all or be all, and it takes more things to occur, im not saying this and only this, but its a vital/huge part; IF WE DONT PUT OUR MONETARY RESOURCES TOGETHER SHIT WILL NEVER CHANGE!!!
not supporting "white movies" isnt the issue and to be frank, it wont change anything...their dollars are allot longer than ours..so their movies will continue to make money..the real issue is just blacks coming together consistently to support our shit!!!!!!...if we do that, that will start the ball rolling!!!
making hollywood and the rest of this country realize we can come together from an monetary/economic standpoint!!
EXACTLY!!!! This is a real solution. Black Folks especially those with the means need to come together on a much larger scale. Leave the fucking Spinning Rims, Cristal and Bling shit alone. How about owing a few royalties instead?
For example: If they White Hollywood doesn't want to make Black Panther..Cool. Sell us or loan us the rights we'll make the movie ourselves...I guarantee you it will make money, particularly in this comic-book to screen age. Especially if its NOT advertise as a BLACK superhero movie...
dudes..your passion is compelling but the method is just not realistic...
If youre talking about getting majority black support for a black cast film then lets start at home..
WHO HERE HAS PAID TO SEE EVERY TYLER PERRY FILM? SHIT ANY TYLER PERRY FILM??
WHO HERE HAS SEEN THE BLACK INDY FILM PARIAH (about a young black lesbian coming out to her family)??
WHO HERE HAS SEEN BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD?
If you haven't (and its okay if you haven't) then you blow your own points out the water.
The notion that all we need to get is full black support is all of our problems are solved is just erroneous. Think Like A Man and the most popular Tyler Perry film both got as much black support as they can muster and both didn't break 100 million in the theaters. And if you add africa as a overseas distributor...well this is what that looks like:

anyone notice the difference...
The all white movie is put into theaters all over the world..regardless of color or enthicity..from white to yellow to brown to black EVERYONE WANTS TO (HAS TO) SEE THE WHITE MOVIE..
The black movie is seen in only the black countries and the UK which has an increasing and vocal black minority. Thats it.
In order to offset lack of white support we need to foster relations and support with and from other people of color..that means latinos and asians and indians and anyone else we can think of.
That means NOT promoting black cast films as "BLACK FILMS" but as the genre they fall into..Comedy, Action, Scifi, Thriller etc.
That means doing films with co stars who are asian and indian and latino to draw those audiences in.
It also means blacks should be supporting THIER films and projects as well.
We can't do this alone or should we.
