Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Setting

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

The only benefit of the doubt I'll throw to these CACs is that their simple ass aren't willing to depict certain civilizations in the Motherland as more advanced than anything the Stark family has ever created.

They'd have to build an entire secret kingdom fully of advanced technology. thinking with skilled scholars & superbly gifted Black folk controlling & ruling their own destinies in a place where they SUCCESSFULLY PROTECT ALL of their most precious resources, THEN sell it as an Int'l brand & product, going into worldwide markets & making sure it translates successfully.

They may be hesitant to try & do this on a worldwide scale thinking that they will lose money by not selling the blond blue eyed hero which always translate into successful ventures.

Some ole BruceLee shit b4 he went home & got the love from his people when the US was giving him shit & when him & his family were dead broke.

marvel doesn't want to spend money on a black action movie because it won't make money internationally. its going to cost at least 100 million to produce and another 50 mill to promote. do you think disney going to take that kind of risk after john carter?

Uh...avatar?

What he meant to say is. It is difficult to create wakanda on the little ass budget they would be sure to get for working on a black movie.

If you can do Harry Potter, Lord of the rings,Narnia and Avatar, you can Eff'n do this movie. :hmm: However, Hollywood, behind the scene's, is not the color of most people on this board. there is no cultural bond or benefit of the doubt given to african american scripts/movies.

With that said there is not going to be a return on their investment overseas on a film that not only highlights the technological superiority or an African civilization, but to responsibly show how intellectual, powerful, creative and scholarly that group of people would have to be would stop any executive in their tracks. They are not ready for that. :smh:

Look how long it took Disney to "give" African American's a cartoon feature. Even in that the Brown girl did not get a brown guy. Some -ish just ain't gonna play unless African Americans finace it themselves and don't worry about the finacial return. Sad to say, but true.

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

If they don't introduce him in a Capt America, Iron Man, or Avengers movie, BP isn't getting a movie.
Black heros can be financially successful ("Passenger 57" "Blade") but I don't see them taking a chance just doing it without a big name actor attached.

Pretty damn sad we don't have any younger talent that can garner big time roles. It is pretty much Will, Denzel, samuel l Jackson and that's it :smh:

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

Hollywood and the Black community is to blame for this. Hollywood see that movies about positive black characters don't sell like Red Tails. Then theres the Black community that only support movies that are relationship based or ones that are filled with drama like Think like a Man and Why did I Get Married. I would love to see a Black Panther movie just for black kids to have some connection to big film heroes. However, Hollywood don't take chances on positive Black Character movies. As successful as Black Panther is its stupid to even try to make an excuse for not doing the movie.

Will Smith is not taking one of those low ball offers Marvel is giving out. They will have to find someone cheaper and significantly less well known (which is a good thing).

Just not true. It's not the lack of support from Black people that would hurt a BP movie but lack of White support. Black folks turned out for "Red Tails" but it failed to cross over to White audiences who had no desire to see a movie starring a bunch of Black actors.

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

I’m still holding out hope that Marvel Studios introduces Black Panther in Captain America 2. We’ve already established that Steve Rogers is a man out of time, I’d now like to see him out of the country and kicking Nazi behinds on the continent of Africa alongside the King of Wakanda.

Captain America 2 should do everything in its power to distinguish itself from the last two movies or run the risk of looking small by comparision. If Marvel wants to reintroduce Bucky as The Winter Soldier, save the reveal for the end of credits sequence. Give us a truly epic sequel that uses green screen sparingly, favoring instead actual exterior shots of the African landscape.

In this regard IF BP is advertise as part of "The Avengers" Team I find it hard to believe with all the recent success they've been having white folks wouldn't support it? I think they would see it because he's another avenger! NO?

Dave, I'm i being to naive here?

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

If people will accept BLADE, they sure as hell will accept BLACK PANTHER.

"how bout a more urban feel, lets make him king of the projects"
"hmm not bad, lets build on that an see where it takes us"

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

Fair Enough and apologies. Just hate seeing this kind of stuff no matter what the genre...

I hear ya Bruh.

To me though, it's just the same ole refrain.

I love comics. Been a collector/fan since the late 60s. And keep in mind that when I was growing up, 99.999% of those super-heroes were WHITE. That didn't stop me from reading. But thanks to The GrandFather, I had gained my Black Awareness at a young age. So I knew how things worked (Pop) culturally, and kept in moving via increasing of knowledge.

That's why I tend not to get worked up about shit like this. It's just minor to me compared to other stuff we have to put up with. You learn to pick and chose your battles.

We have tons of creators out there who are doing stuff for US. And many of these Cats are just begging for US to recognize their efforts. But most of the time, we truly don't until Whites do. This happens in Comics too.

Yeah.
It sucks that Louis D'Esposito lolly-gagged an excuse about the possible issues of a Black Panther film. But like I stated, it could for any number of reasons. Especially in a town where secrets aren't well kept. It's Hollywood after all.

I'm thinking that maybe The Black Panther will be "introduced" in one of the future MARVEL productions. Captain America would make likely sense. Provided The Falcon isn't up. Which has been the rumor for the "Winter Soldier" story-line.

Just take a "wait & see".

BTW...
Peace for stepping up with an apology.
Done get that very often around these parts.:lol::lol::D:D:D

Don't forget they are doing a Nick Fury movie......I guess he will have enough white heroes that it will push the sales?

fuck internationally, Crackkkas right here in the good old USA won't support a movie about a black superhero.

that shit crazy right.
Crackkkas won't spend their hard earned money to see a black hero, but every weekend, black people spend their hard earned money to see some crackkka save the world. I still haven't seen the Avengers movie. I don't consider black Nick Fury a fucking superhero.

and let us keep it real. Is black panther really that interesting a superhero. I don't think so.

Why not do Powerman and Ironfist. You can't go wrong with a black and white guy superhero movie.

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

This racist CAC muthafucka! If the CAC won't do it, we need our own people to do it. Spike Lee and Tyler Perry need to get on this ASAP as far as I'm concerned. Enough with waiting on the white man to do shit for us. Asa lama lay cum my niggas!

"Marvel Studios sources indicate a Powerman and Ironfist film is rumored to be in the works with Owen Wilson playing Ironfist and Chris Rock as Powerman. Rock is reportedly beefing up for the role with an extensive exercise regimen, supplements, and the assistance of Mackie Shilstone. The project was originally stalled when the director insisted on the two heroes being bisexual, an idea vehemently rejected by Rock."

youre either white or a moron...which is redundant:hmm:

You get the right people to act a fool about this and I bet you Disney will green light it the next fuckin day.

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

BP should make an appearance in the next Cap America movie instead of Falcon. They could build off the fact that Cap's shield is BP's stolen property...

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

If you and others are so upset about Louis D'Esposito claims,
Write the fucker then and let him know there's an audience out there for a "BLACK PANTHER" film.

Excellent idea:
Marvel Studios, LLC
1600 Rosecrans Avenue
Building 7 - Suite 110
Manhattan Beach, CA 90266

Contact: Marvel Studios: Melissa Zukerman Melissa@pcommgroup.com

And let's get one thing straight; Black Panther is not a "black" character, he's a MARVEL character and they should be treating him as such. They don't want to make it for most of the reasons already mentioned but they can at least know there is a demand for it.

Seriously, and don't take it wrong, fuck what you think! The Black Panther is every bit as interesting a character as Batman if you are familiar with the character.

yep thats the whole story

id rather they NOT make it, unless they put the right money behind it

Re: Marvel Boss Talks 'Black Panther' Movie, Says It's Difficult To Create World, Set

I do agree though that no matter what they do they are never gonna please Black Panther fans. I had no hope for this film getting made and still don't. Hollywood not willing to risk 100 million on a superhero in Africa. That's just real shit. And ya'll know ya'll wouldn't be satisfied with the shit no matter what.
