I had the 2K12 with MJ on the cover last year...I have a thread complaining about the glitches...every time I tried to save after playing a game in Franchise mode the game would stop completely...
I had to delete the game data & franchise every time...I just stop playing it...

Well he's been in the games themselves and along with several of his shoes so I would say he wouldn't mind being the cover guy.
Plus he's done commercials for McDonalds, car insurance, Sprite/Coke and Dre Beats. He also did cuts for ESPN and TNT, and all those goofy commercials for his shoes so he can't be one who would take his brand marketing too seriously. I don't see why he wouldn't want to be the cover boy for a video game of the sport of his profession.

Jordan ain't stupid. He know he's the most popular basketball player of all-time. They put him on the cover of a game, and that shit would fly off the shelves just off him being on the cover.
He wanted big money and they make these games every year, and it would cost a lot to pay Jordan every year just to be in the game, so they just left him out of games or replaced him as "player 23" or something.
He was in a few games before. I remember he was in Live '97. He was in Live 2003 when he was on the Wizards. And they made NBA Street 2 and they made that shit about Jordan.
That's why when 2K got him, they put him down for two years. It would probably cost them some change, but on the other hand, they eating off Jordan being in the game for two years.
They made 2K11 all about him (and that shit sold like hot cakes, especially when Jordan hadn't been in a game since like 2007-8). They couldn't make the next game all about him again so they made 2K12 the legends game because they wouldn't be able to make one in the future with Jordan in it unless they paid him again. So he probably won't be in 2K13.

Gamestop had the midnight release and I just couldn't wait to play that shit. You know, pre-ordered that shit that Saturday, got off work Monday night, waited outside Gamestop from 11pm to 12:10 with some other geeks trying to buy some other stupid game. I was the first brotha there of a whole line of niggas trying to pick their shit up. They was only letting 4 people in the store at a time. I was the 5th person there overall, and like 15 people got their games before me.
I hated that shit though, that was the first time and the only time I've ever done it. Shit wasn't even worth the trouble. I only played that shit for 30 minutes when I got home anyway cuz ain't nobody else have the shit and I was tired from work.
The only perk to it was that I got to pick my own cover, and of course I got the Jordan, even though he was on the cover the year before. But I didn't even really care about the cover.
But I'm never doing that shit again.

1) That's not even in Lebron's character. MJ is a different story.
2) There's no reports of that.
3) If he's already in the game, they don't have to pay to have him extra to be on the cover of the game.
Even in that scenario, I'm sure just paying Lebron to be on the cover by himself would be cheaper than paying 3 players to be on it. Or that he would want more money than Jordan, Bird and Magic. Once again, that's not even in Lebron's character.
2K didn't choose Lebron for the cover and leave it at that.

He turned it down cause the money was funny. Durant, Blake, and Rose are a little more humble than Lebron so I could imagine them doing it for next to nothing..

Reading from Operation Sports, supposedly there's been a few hints dropped that NBA Live 13 got Lebron for the cover...we'll see.
If Lebron wanted more money, why would he agree to be in the game? When MJ and Barkley wanted more money, they didn't agree to be in the games at all.
2K probably considered Lebron for the cover, I'm sure they did. But they probably considered that Lebron last season had surpassed Kobe as the most hated player in the league.
Chances are they already chose these 3 to be the cover before the Heat won the championship. They've only been champions for a week. Maybe even before they got to the Finals.
2K usually puts out the cover art of the game the first week in June, which is the same time the Finals start. So when Kobe, KG and Shaq were announced to be on the covers the same year they won a championship and before they actually won them, it was probably by coincidence. Just like it would've been a coincidence that Durant would've been on the cover had the Thunder won the Finals.
Chris Paul was on the cover of 2K8 and the Hornets weren't even in the playoffs.
Kobe went to the Finals 4 times and won 2 rings since 2K stop using AI as the cover guy. Wasn't on the cover until 2K10.
And Dirk? One could argue that he should've been on the cover, but unfortunately, he regressed this season.
So they went with the winner of the last year's Slam Dunk Contest (understandable because they added a new Slam Dunk contest feature) last year's scoring champ and last year's MVP.
Next year, they'll probably use Lebron because he, Melo, Rondo and Dwight are the only top players left who haven't been on the cover of 2K yet.

Jordan never belonged to the union which is why they had to negotiate with him separately about being in the game, let alone being on the cover..
Lebron has to be in the game, but has a choice whether he want's to be a paid spokesman for the product.
They can only offer, and I assume he turned it down..
