New York, NY – June 26, 2012 – 2K Sports today announced that the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant, Los Angeles Clippers’ Blake Griffin and the Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose have been crowned the cover athletes for NBA® 2K13, the next installment of the top-selling and top-rated NBA video game simulation franchise*.

”Being crowned as one of the NBA 2K13 cover athletes is a huge honor and something I always dreamt about,” said Durant, who won his third straight scoring title and led the Thunder franchise to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1996. “It’s definitely humbling to grace the cover after the likes of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird.”

“There’s so much young talent around the NBA, so it’s very exciting to be chosen for NBA 2K’s ‘New Dynasty’ alongside Kevin and Derrick,” added Griffin, who helped lead the Clippers to their first postseason since 2006. “The NBA 2K series has always been my first choice when I want to get a game in.”

“It’s a dream come true to be one of the cover athletes for NBA 2K13,” commented Rose, the 2010-11 NBA Most Valuable Player, who led the Bulls to a league-best 50-16 record this season. “I’ve worked closely with 2K Sports since NBA 2K10, and I’m honored to follow in the footsteps of Michael Jordan as the latest Chicago Bull to be featured on the cover.”

In their young but impressive careers, Rose, Durant and Griffin have each taken the NBA by storm. All three are past winners of the NBA Rookie of the Year award, and have also amassed eight All-Star berths, three scoring titles, and one Most Valuable Player award between them.

“There are many young superstars in today’s NBA, but we’ve selected three incredible athletes for the cover of NBA 2K13 that represent the NBA well,” concluded Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “It’s clear to us that Blake, Derrick and Kevin are the most deserving guys to inherit the NBA 2K cover from Jordan, Magic and Bird.”

Developed by Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio, NBA 2K13 is not yet rated by the ESRB and will be available on October 2, 2012 in North America and October 5, 2012 internationally. The Wii U version of the title will be available during the holiday season. Fans are encouraged to pre-order now at participating retailers in order to receive the downloadable NBA All-Star content package presented by Sprite on day one at no extra cost.

White people are funny.

Trying to be god

:smh::smh::smh:

Cool cover I guess. I just realized the other day that Jordan was on the cover of my 2k12 copy. So I guess it don't matter:hmm:

Yeah really.

Why?

The threads about cover athletes that get picked and paid to get on a cover to represent a game every year since sports gaming has been around and you can't hold back your racial soapbox cuz you take offense to that simple sentence...seriously...?

Their job is to do exactly what they just said, get athletes that represent the previous year well for their cover. There's nothing more to dig into from there bruh, nothing at all.

 I had two 2k12's and Magic was on one and Bird was on the other ...

Who gives a fuck about a cover.. It can come in a plane white case as far as I'm concerned.. If the gameplay is on point, I'm good..

2 former Rookies of the year and a MVP. 3 guys who aren't on ESPN for the wrong reason and rep the league well. What's the problem again?

Westbrook probably somewhere saying he should of been on the cover instead of Durant.

What does that consist of? Do think a computer with a random number generator just came up with the selection?

There is subjectivity involved and I highlighted that.

The fact that you go with whatever shows that you have shut down your thinking process when it comes to judgements whites make of blacks and assume the thought process to be correct by default.

Notice posters saying Jordan was on the cover so that there contradicts the statement: "represent the previous year well"

Why NOT Lebron?

I hope they improve the game, because that E3 demo was trash. 2k has been slacking since Live dropped off the face of the earth.

Firstly, if you had to go by previous posters to figure out Jordan was on a cover, than you don't even understand how this whole sports gaming market works or follow it to get on one of your rants here. Jordan was on the cover because he was in a basketball game for the first time in decades. Even while he was active in the NBA when games were coming out, he either asked for too much money or declined and was only in maybe one or two NBA video games during his time. Plus of course people want to see Jordan in a modern game now, so it was a big deal and selling point for 2K and made him the cover athlete.

Secondly, I couldn't care who's on the cover, but I like to see the cover art. So 2Ks choice of Durant & Griffin mean nothing, not really Rose either but I'm a Bulls fan so I'm somewhat biased there maybe.

Why not Lebron...? I don't know, I don't care. Maybe he wants more money than they wanna spend, maybe he declined the offer, but who cares. I don't pay any attention to the media or whoever your tryna say I "just go with" so you can miss me with all that.

basically you are saying ignore the shit you type.

Peace.

It's not that serious to me to spend my time arguing about this shit with no progression of thought.

I said my piece, you disagreed without saying why and now you say you don't care who is on the cover.

I'm saying the process needs to be looked at in light of the subjective statement that was made.

White anointing...... the default that must not be questioned.

You don't pay attention to the media, fine. Then don't try to start shit when it is clear the messages the media sends to black kids.

That's all.

Life your life with your head in the sand.

Peace

No, basically you just picked small fragments of sentences I typed and ignored the full statement I was making.

There is no "clear message", just a ridiculous assumption from an ultra-sensitive militant.

All these adjectives you use but you are yet to state exactly what was your problem with my statement.

Instead you say you don't care about who is on the cover nor listen to the media...... so what is your point questioning me then?

What was the criteria?

Don't know the metric. The cat said "represent the NBA well" so maybe that is it. Who knows? Dirk didn't get the cover last year. Was it a problem then?

Also, if it is true that the metric is "represent the NBA well", who has ever said anything bad about any three of those cats? There are still enough people who don't like Lebron. Hell, most this board didn't like him when he played for Cleveland. :smh: He left Cleveland and became Malcolm X to these cats.

I answered that wtf are you talking about.

Need more...okay here ya go...
It's simple, it simply doesn't apply here, it's marketing 101. They picked three brothas to represent their product for the NBA. They have a competitor which is EASports and of course want to hype their game from all aspects compared to EA's Live franchise. Yes they'll even want to convince people they have the better cover athlete(s). Yet you have a problem with the company saying their players represent the game well (which is something they are gonna say and have said every year no matter who they put on the cover because they are in the obvious business of marketing and sales).

Yeah, that was my only observation, the criteria and the subjectiveness of it.

Hey, if you don't care then why are you going on and on and on?

This is what was said, not all that bullshit you think was said:

"“There are many young superstars in today’s NBA, but we’ve selected three incredible athletes for the cover of NBA 2K13 that represent the NBA well,” concluded Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports."

represent the NBA well

never said represent the game well.

Understand the difference....... especially in light of the lockout situation that has changed players perspectives on what is really going on in that plantation (vs the owners).

It might not matter to us grown folk, but the kids gotta love it!!! Cause if i was a kid it would really make a difference!!!

If there was really a conspiracy to keep LeBron off the cover then KG should never have made it on the cover, either. The Celtics did the same thing the Heat did and no one had an issue with it because they did it right. There is no conspiracy against LeBron. If there was the Heat would've lost Game 7 vs. Boston and lost in the Finals vs the Thunder. They probably picked the cover a while ago. He'll probably be on it next year.

Hey, if you don't care then why are you going on and on and on?
Again, your usual your super powered Selective Reading skills quite well lol.

I said I don't care who's on the cover at least to this extent. But I do care (to an extent as well) when other brothas decide to bring race into a completely irrelevant situation especially due to a lack of knowledge about a subject and it becomes a misunderstanding for further ignorance. That would be why I'm carrying on this discussion on the discussion board with you.

:hmm:
The word "game" is meant to have double meaning...as in the NBA and 2K since it relates to both the same way. This video game obviously represents the NBA as well. But unless you got anymore questions there really isn't much more to say.

Actually 3 of the last 5 ROYs and 1 is MVP while another should've been this year.

Westbrook probably somewhere saying he should of been on the cover instead of Durant.

I would think being the 3 best players in the league under 25 who all act humble and fill up ESPNs Top 10s every day is a start...
