Bgol pham...

thanks and you are exactly right creatinine levels. could be dehydration or could be failure. We had a patient a week or so ago with BUN/CR of 6.8/58:eek:
she cried when she found out that we would have to place a dialysis cath in her neck and that she would need a permanent graft in her arm for long term dialysis.
we tried to hydrate her and use lasix but couldn't get her Creatinine below 4.5 without dialysis:smh:
sucks because she is only 31 and seems to be living the fast party life while trying to mnage type 2 diabetes ineffectively (always drinks daquaris and sodas)

Yeah when I was interning on the Renal service they used to always hydrate patients....esp the ones with transplants who they thought were rejecting.

They would ultrasound see no problem and the creatinine would go down after a day or two of IV hydration.

Keep us updated and stay strong. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking when getting better.

Thanks code and everybody else. They are hydrating me a lot with IV's I'm going to the bathroom like every twenty minutes. I hot another procedure tomorrow....a colonoscopy :smh: due to blood possibly being in my digestive system

hmmmm if you are peeing like crazy i think it means you still have some function in your kidneys and the lasix they are dumping into your iv is working through your system. :dunno:

Damn what hospital where you at? I wish I could of ordered a massage

well i didnt actually order it the nurse thought i would appreciate it since i had been in there so long, then when the old lady came and said i am here to give you a massage i was like naw i'm cool, then the nurse comes in and was like did you enjoy the massage i just gave her the :hmm::hmm::hmm:

yeah, he may be peeing like crazy...but what is in the pee? if he is still having protein in his pee, it doesnt matter how much fluid he pees because if his glomerular filtration rate is off (meaning that the filters in his kidneys are not catching structures as large as proteins, then it just means that his kidneys are not doing their job of filtering proteins and other materials as they should.

protein in the urine is an ominous sign of poor kidney function because something as large as a protein should not even make it through the filtration system of the kidneys to the urine or the urethra.

No I was correcting what I wrote concerning the BMP

my bad
good stuff in this thread though.
cats be thinking that high protein diets are good for everyone. if your kidneys are shot then you are setting yourself up for failure. this statement was not directed at Pirahna, because i am sure you understand the concept

but isn't some kidney function better than no function at all. If that lasix is not making him pee much doesnt that mean the kidneys have almost completely failed? if that lasix is not helping/making him pee isn't dialysis almost a must until a transplant can be secured?

true, but not always. i have seen it go both ways.

Like i was saying before, what is in the pee? and the blood after the lasix and all of the peeing. The Cr may drop some but if it isnt really dropping after diuretic therapy then it may be more serious.

But, you have a point, in many cases dumping all of that fluid is a good sign. I am just saying, that i have seen it go both ways...MANY times

Oh I wasn t arguing with you...I argue and talk a lot of shit on the board but when there is a health issue I try to be as professional as I have been trained to be.

real talk...high protein is not good for the kidneys and when they are damaged protein is not good.

In the hospital you will be placed on a low protein diet if you have renal impairment.

yeah and lasix itself can impair renal function....Creatinine can go up from using lasix also.

Hey everybody I just wanted to personally thank all of you for words of encouragement and advice. Thankfully I was discharged from the hospital a few hours ago and my kidneys are fine. However, I have to control my high blood pressure with medications and my efforts to control it myself can no longer proceed

have you ever heard of chakra healing?

its something worth looking into

off the top of my head id say you have issues with your root and sacral chakras

you can start meditating and working on them to make sure they are healthy and functioning properly

there are chakra healers you can go to...but im weary unless you really know and trust that person

you can heal yourself and i know u will see a difference

im glad you are feeing better:)

Glad you're out bruh...

what is your height and weight and workout schedule like?

Do you plan on altering your diet? Was it recommended?

Take care of yourself ok? Look into some natural foods that will help your kidneys process. Last thing you need is about five bottles of pills to keep you alive.

You can do this.

Three pages and all positive encouragement for my man. I hope all who wish this brother the best in his recovery, also look at becoming organ donors.

This is something I really wish we would take more serious and realize how many lives it saves and how it can save our lives as well. I push this one all the time now.
