TNA was still a smaller company then. Now with quite a few national sponsors it's different and they have more options, like using Morgan in the Direct Insurance ads.

They have chicks like Brooke and Velvet that are known for showing their asses. Why not get them a deal with Sketchers or one of those kicks that tone up bitches asses? Tara is big on bikes but she hasn't been on one of those biker shows. These are things that could have been done in the last few years. Even the WWE jumped on the "Fruity Pebbles" things and got John Cena on a box of cereal.

Velvet's not good enough to be the champ but as the number two babyface, she's a good fit.
Not a fan of her managing or anything that takes her out of the ring. She needs more ring work, not less. That was clearly why they let her feud with Jackie and ODB, to help her along.

That was the Beauty of TBP. Angelina (and later Madison) did the heavy work and protected Velvet. I wouldn't put Angelina and Velvet back together, but I'd put her with an established female wrestler with a similar look. That being said I thought the feud between her and ODB was a natural one.

But they aren't WWE. When TNA finally got a Playboy spread for one of their girls, Playboy decided they were out of the wrestling pinup business.
They're growing but they're still not big enough for a lot of the major companies, especially coming out of a recession, to put any money into them or their stars. Considering Dixie's marketing background, I'm sure TNA is doing all they can with what they have. Right now, they've taken James Storm theme song and started selling as a legit single and getting it airplay on country stations in/around Nashville in preparation for Lockdown.

I did too.
Oh, we were naming good female wrestlers TNA dropped the ball on, we can't forget Cheerleader Melissa/Alissa Flash/Raisha Saeed.
If they ever wanted to make the tag championship valuable, there are a lot of women out to bring in, some familiar to TNA, some brand new.

That was really embarrassing for them because they hyped the hell out of her and playboy relegated it to a web release. They still have the asylum crowd on lock in Nashville but imo Impact will never succeed until they start going on the road more.

They simply didn't want to keep paying for talent so being cheap led to a lot of those girls looking for other places to work. WWE needs to sign the aforementioned women and within a year could have the same success they did back in 01-04.

Yeah but going on the road for tv is expensive and that would kill them faster than bad booking.

You don't need top talent to work 2 minute matches.

Why DID they stop taping in the Asylum?!? You'd think that they could alternate TV tapings between Nashville and Orlando.

I have no idea tbh but it was a dumb move because the impact crowd is really just people wanting to get out of the sun for a couple of hours.

Cheaper in Orlando in a real tv studio. They were really a barebones operation back then.
I do think they need to go to Nashville more often, for house shows and tv tapings since it's a strong market for them. They don't want to end up like Crockett, who used to dominate the Carolinas but started ignoring us and fans never came back.

There are a few of those but the Impact Zone crowd is full of hardcores who, like the ECW Arena crowd, have seen it all and are spoiled.

I've been to the Impact Zone twice and the crowd sucks. Less than half are TNA fans and the rest are either friends/family of the wrestlers or tourists in Universal that may/may not like wrestling but encouraged to go because it's a TV taping. Not to mention their setup for TV is confusing. They retape things they don't like. I went to the taping where Mick Foley introduced Chyna and they had to shoot it twice. The crowd didn't know what the fuck was going on or understand why we had to cheer that bitch twice.

Borash encourages you to cheer the loudest coming out of the commercial break, and SoCal Val walks around out of sight of the camera and tries the crowd to cheer the face during the "comeback" portions of the match.

I've read about the retapes and I can't imagine if they had to go live every week and shit like that happened. Whenever I read it, I keep thinking it would be better if they just left it or at least retaped the next day.

The other stuff is typical tv taping stuff in the modern era, including dead crowds.
I've been to a couple TNA road ppvs and it's better to do it in front of an audience familiar with the characters and storylines than a half full, if that, arena with the only people getting any love being the former WWE/WCW/ECW guys.

Just finished Victory Road

Sting is fucking champ for taking that shot on the back of the head with the chair.

Bobby Roode is a fucking beast. He's really on another level right now as a heel.

It reminded me of old Attitude Era ppvs: weak to fair in the middle with strong main events. Hardy and Angle were great and Sting elevated Roode and looked as good as I've seen him in a while.

Shitty ppv but like i said those 2 matches were worth seeing. Roode is the best thing going right now and he's validated what people have been saying about him for years. Angle is amazing because he didn't know a damn thing about wrestling(Karen had to school him)and now he's one of the greatest ever imo.

I never understood why they feel the need to do so much in front of a crowd..especially one as dead as the one in the Impact Zone. Go the old WWF Challenge route pretape all these interviews and dub over commentary.

I've been to quite a few house shows myself. THey tend to fill up 50 - 75% of the building, but they do extremely well overseas. Because most of the shows that I've been in are in the NY/NJ area, a wrestler that is popular is Robbie E.

WWE.com Reports That John Cena Was in a Car Accident

WWE doctor speaks on Cena's condition...

WWE.com reports that Cena has been cleared for his match on Raw tonight. WWE physician Michael Sampson noted Cena was "a little shaken up" and that he had whiplash-like injures.

"He feels good today, but then a couple days later, that's when you get the neck stiffness and the pain," he said. "He is cleared to compete tonight. We're going to let him go, but we're definitely going to keep an eye on him. We're going to check him right before his match one more time, just to make sure he's okay."

Angle is top five in my generation period

"I did it for The Rock..."

Rock would be missing a golden opportunity if he didn't say something like "damn you're so bad they're trying to run you off the road now"

I liked it. Good opener, so-so in the middle, good to great final two matches and I was surprised that Angle won. Anderson/AJ and Daniels/Kazarian had a solid tag match but I did think Madison was slowing Gail down. She was working more on screeching and working the angle and not the match. They needed some house show work before they did it on tv.

Lately, they've been dubbing Taz and Tenay's commentary over the second and third shows to keep them current.
They need to do more in front of the crowd especially interviews. The one thing I think WWE and TNA need to bring back from the old territory days is interviews in front of the audience and not backstage.

I like Robbie. Goofy gimmick but he's all in and makes it work as a comedy character.
Those England shows were bananas so I expect them to tape again the next time they go back. That trip made Magnus because his promo there was what got the attention of people like Hulk Hogan.

I said a couple pages back "Welcome back Mark Henry!". Well, that's over. Back to being a big jobber.

We finally get serious with Rock & Cena with 2 weeks to go:hmm: I mean Rock was great last night and Cena wasn't doing the goofy smile and actually sold it perfectly so that's good, but im disappointed in Philly for not cheering when Rock did the "Bang Bang" tribute to foley. I thought Punk was ok but i thought it could've been great if it didn't come off like a sermon, Jericho was good but i want to see them F2F next week.

They're trying harder now and better late than never.

I think they've dropped the ball with Jericho's return and adding this thing with Punk's father dilutes it a little, to me. I'm not saying it should never be used, just not in the Mania build up, maybe in the set up for the rematches.

2012 wrestling fans, even in Philly (shout out to Shane Douglas), aren't the same people that used to chant "ECW!" during WWF shows in the 90s. I have no doubt there were people there that had no idea he was shouting out Mick.

Jericho' return was handled badly(like was the little girl in the videos suppose to mean something?)and they took a roundabout way to finally get to him & punk. Honestly i kind of like how the AE wrestlers don't fit in with the current generation and that's how i want it, i don't want SCSA fitting in with this pg crap. They've had to put a lid on the pg rating just so Rock could fit in and that should be a sign that it's time to end it. Punk's promo last night had him cursing at the end which shows me they are moving away from it a little.

This is what happened after Raw went off the air, you know Miz was like a little kid here in the ring with his hero.

I don't believe they have the confidence in Jeff Hardy as of yet. I can always count on A.J. to have a good match (BTW - did Fourtune disband?) I also agree with your assessment on Kim/Madison.

They had to do that with Taz on Smackdown because he sucks live. Notice the commentary has gotten better since they did a dub over. But I think they should do the old "picture in picture" as the wrestler comes to the ring like they used to. It would save time.

I like Robbie. Goofy gimmick but he's all in and makes it work as a comedy character.

As I said before, Robbie E is a high school gym teacher here in Jersey. (he does that because of the easy schedule and he can get health benefits) He does a great deal of indy work and is popular as fuck in the North East It's almost to a point where he has to amke a decision to give up the teaching gig in order to wrestle full-time.

I said a couple pages back "Welcome back Mark Henry!". Well, that's over. Back to being a big jobber.

I think injuries are slowing him down. There was talk recently about him retiring soon.

BTW = Shane Douglas at RAW last night:

They did but slowly. Daniels turned on AJ and Roode turned on Storm and now Kazarian has sided with Daniels.
I don't think they're completely behind Jeff either. They'll keep him on top but it will be a while before they make him a centerpiece like he was before.

I like Taz. He started off as bad as Booker but he and Cole got the point where they were the best team on tv with Cole as the play by play and Taz doing a good job of putting over what the wrestlers are going through. He seems to be the type of color guy that works to the level of the material: if TNA puts something good in front of him, he's good but if it's bad, he can't cover it.

Having a full time job outside wrestling makes Robbie one of the smartest guys in the business. Unless he's got a good contract with TNA with a set amount of dates and money, he should stick to his teaching gig, even if he just goes to part-time or substitute.

I saw that about Shane. They kept him off tv pretty well but he got the attention of the local audience for his show and that's all that's important.

Injuries are killing Henry but instead of being rewarded for working hurt, they're burying him.
I heard him talking about retiring before his big push and title run so I think he was dead serious and I don't see him being in WWE for too much longer, 2013 at the latest (depending on his contract of course).
