I think that's the issue. He's gotten so far away from what he was. Now I don't mind Cena as much as the next dude. (he's come a LONG way in the ring thanks to Ar Anderson) But his personality is not well liked with the male demographic. They ruined him the way they ruined SCSA: they made him a parody of himself.

I agree but it seems like cats fault Cena for the way WWE portrays him and the way they want him to be portrayed. I'm no Cena fan and yea I do prefer him how he was years ago but at the same time I can't fault the cat for being PG friendly when that's what the company wants him to be.

Cena was doomed either way, he's horrendous now but even his thuganomics gimmick had a shelf life. I do fault Cena for how he's portrayed because he seems to not even try to switch it up. When he's serious he comes off hokey except for his final promo at CM Punk before Summer Slam, and when he tries to be funny he comes off like a bad Rock clone. The WWE is at fault because they only care about money and how they get it, but Cena seems content with his status and the Kane feud is a perfect example.
Thuganomics had its shelf life like any other gimmick but it was more so his swagger(hate to use that word but can't think of anything else at the moment lol) that made him more likeable. He wasn't corny.
And I agree when he tells jokes its unbearable. To me anyway. Speaking of funny stories, the Mulkeys were so hot after beating the Gladiators (hyped up like some big time team from California for weeks but it was just George South and some other guy) they got into the Crockett Cup tournament and got a US title shot at the Midnight Express in their hometown of Anderson, SC.

But like Flair in the Dominican Republican, the crowd was so hot (over 2000 people in a 1500 seat rec center), with most of the town being related to the Mulkeys, they just sold for the Mulkeys until they blew up, Bobby pinned Bill, and they ran to the back, grabbed their bags, and ran to a car a ref had running outside. In the rearview mirror, Cornette said it looked like a shot from a Frankenstein movie with the villagers chasing after them.
