Brooklyn Nets prep Dwight Howard offer!

Otis, you better get that money and draft picks maybe. D12 is outta there.

The Nets played this great.

leaking this will put pressure on Otis.

Otis will have pressure from Howard. Also he will be on a clock and as Al said most important the Nets made this public because now Orlando's owners will see this. They may not know hoops but they know $$$$$$$. They will see the money that they can save with this deal. Dwight walks for nothing their capped is fucked and their stuck with Hedo and no picks worth anything.

The Magic are way over the salary cap and lack the ability to add truly meaningful pieces to a roster that lost in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs and lacks a supporting star for Howard. This trade would bring in Lopez to fill the mammoth hole that will be left by Howard's departure, an impossible task, but Lopez, 23, averaged 20.8 points and 6.0 rebounds last season, so it could be worse. One complication: Lopez's deal expires after the 2011-2012 season and he will likely command a fair sum when it comes time for him to make a deal.

Any Howard trade will need to clear out Turkoglu too, as he is Orlando's second most ridiculous contract. The Magic would be set up pretty quickly for a post-Howard rebuilding by getting out of the $34 million guaranteed to Turkoglu through 2013-2014 and waiving guard Gilbert Arenas via the amnesty clause. None of the other contracts currently on their books are particularly outrageous and the Magic has no other major salary committments past 2012-2013 other than Turkoglu. The ground-up method is generally considered the best way to bounce back from a departure of a major superstar. This type of deal would get them there.

Otis will not get this deal again and I love the Nets take it or leave it. Not begging this time

So, can you please explain why this deal is the "best" they can get?

They get
- one b- level inside man
- 2 first round draft picks that will be non lottery (If the Nets have D Howard they're not a lottery team)
- Turk cap space.

The first two are pretty close to worthless and the last one could be offered by about half the teams in the league.

Take Turk and Arenas' contracts and now you're talking.

You must not have been paying attention when he bought a house in LA. That Russian can give Dwight his left arm, Dwight aint going nowhere except LA, or more money in Orlando.

Nets should give it up and try and make a move with orlando, maybe they can pick up Gasol or Bynum from the Lakers in a 3-way when the Lakes get Howard.

Sorry bruh, I know you want him, but he aint coming.

LA is like $91M on 9 players... you tell me how Dwight going to LA is going to help them financially.

*sigh* you don't get it.

Nets are the only team willing to take Turk's contract since they are going to waive Outlaw on amnesty. After that, the Magic can waive Arenas off amnesty. So there, both players aren't fucking the hardcap. With any other team, the Magic still keep Turk's $35M contract and they will get rid of Arenas w/ amnesty. That is why the Nets' deal is the best deal they can get financially. Yes, they can get better players with any other team but they would still be fucked in their cap.

One of the first round picks is the Rockets plus we still have Golden State unprotected pick (wow they actually made that pick for Marcus Williams:lol::lol::lol:)

Where do you see those teams finishing in the West??

This will be a deep draft. Also Orlando keeps their own pick. so that three first picks with this deal and if the Nets add the GSW pick that's 4. Where do you think the Magic will finish when they start to rebuild.

2. This deal is the best because it gives the Magic cap space once the season starts they will have to take back matching cap space. Orlando owners let it be known they were only interesting in spending if it kept Dwight. Dwight leaves their cap space is fucked. Now again 47 million off the books.

47 MILLION OFF THE BOOKS they will have cap space next season.

this is the best deal.

this is just pressure to put on Otis.

You name another scenario where Orlando gets back pieces, cap space and a young player like Lopez

Clippers will do whatever it takes - outside of trading Blake Griffin - to get Dwight, sources say.

They are currently about $14M under the salary cap (without waving anyone). They can probably afford to take both Turk and Arenas and Dwight and give up the draft picks.

Plus Dwight gets to play with Blake and live in LA.

People keeps saying it doesn't compare LA like the Nets are staying in New Jersey. Brooklyn is IN NYC...the Lights are just as bright in NY if not brighter

It looks good for the nets but be realistic this depends on Howard and according to the espn article that Broke the story he still either wants to be in LA or NY as a knick the nets appealing with the cap space and Williams no doubt but the nets could be the Tampa bay of the nba... All the money in the world but if a player doesn't want it he won't agree... I agree this is the best deal for Orlando and they should take it but the clippers are lurking if they offer Eric Gordon, deandre Jordan some picks and take on turkugulu their offer is better than the nets offer and it gets Howard out of the east.

First rule of superstar trading, get them out of your conference if u can

Do you want to know the players Dwight wants to play with??

correct me if I'm wrong two of those players are Nets right.

also again Clippers are just like us. Once december 9 they will resign deandre jordan.

this is the same guy who took women in to the locker room while the players were showering. remember the racist comments he made??:lol:

the clippers:lol::lol: they just handed cleveland the number 1 pick.

also this is donald sterling.

again some of you haven't been paying attention to what Dwight has been doing this summer. It's a reason after his trip from Russia Orlando asked the NBA to investigate the Nets owner

I have no idea why the Knicks want Howard. Melo, Howard, and STAT do not compliment each other, it's not in their game to do so.

He cant shot Kazaam 2 in BK,and they should and dont like that Russian.

Hey Orlando asked the NBA to investigate the Nets saying dwight was prepared to sign the extension but once he return from Moscow all of sudden things were different. he says his dream team would include two nets players and once returning he and his body guard actually visited the Nets future home.

:lol::lol:

what's even funnier Billy actually visited Deron during the lockout isn't that against the rules??

he NBA forbids team executives from being in contact with players during the lockout, with violations reportedly resulting in potential $1 million fines. That, however, has not stopped New Jersey Nets general manager Billy King from following Deron Williams around Europe.

Williams, the star point guard who the Nets would desperately like to keep beyond next season, is playing for Besiktas in Turkey. King is tweeting about his travels, being careful not to mention Williams by name (teams are also not allowed to discuss players during the lockout).

According to tweets compiled by Nets Daily (via Hoopshype), King arrived in Izmir Saturday afternoon for Williams’ first away game in the Turkish League. On Friday, he tweeted that he was aboard a Turkish Airlines flight, and on Saturday he posted a picture of his trip and called Izmir "a beautiful city".

Then, just before the Besiktas-Pinar Karsiyaka SK game, King tweeted, "2 mins to tip off someone breaks the backboard".

After the game, King wrote, "Saw some good young talent. Back to Istanbul,” and he thanked "all the Besiktas fans at the game."

:lol::lol: so billy was just watching other talent????:lol::lol: bullshit

The Knicks don't. Howard likes the Knicks, the Knicks want cp3 ... But if cp3 became unavailable they'd target Howard if they could or Williams if he doesn't extend wïth the nets. The Knicks aren't in this fight except they could pay the nets back for involving themselves in the melo deal and raise the price or put a bug in Howard's ear to make him believe the Knicks want him more. They won't but they could.

ya but draft picks mean nothing compared to the lights, glamor, women, weather, hollywood appeal of los angeles

Unless he's REEEAAAAALLLY a stickler for weather, that is the only thing you listed that would put LA over NYC.

my boy back home said the bulls might try to get howard as well as mayo. but dam that would really put the nets on the map. tho i would rather see him on my bulls

I will be honest if the Bulls owner wasn't so cheap he could have melo right now. thing is Hedo or Gilbert will be coming with Dwight.

I love the Nets for doing this because this gives them power. Otis either takes the deal or the Nets say good luck and move on.

Again the Nugget situation isn't happening again.

I'm still wondering what our owner was doing in Atlanta because seriously why is he there. the last thing we need is tampering

killa everything you're saying is all assumption and speculation..as much as I want Dwight to come to Brooklyn the deal the clippers can offer the magics is way better than what the nets can offer plus it gets dwight out the eastern conference..plus having eric gordan(a future scoring champ) and deandre jordan shits on getting brook lopez who is not even that good..

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

someone changed their mind

“I think you have to look at everything,” Smith told the Orlando Sentinel when he was asked if he'd consider trading Howard.

“I don’t think you can take anything out of consideration. I think, one, you have to talk to your player first. We have to figure out where his head is, not where everyone thinks his head is, and just more figure out where he wants to be. And then you have to make the best decision of what’s in the best interests of the franchise. That’s how I’ve always went about it: to make the best decision that’s in the best interests of the Orlando Magic.
“I think you have to wait and leave all that up in the air. I don’t think you can say you will or you won’t [trade] at this point because you don’t know what you don’t know. I can speculate based on what I read and hear, but that’s really not fair to Dwight and it’s not fair to us. So you have to have a conversation with him about what he wants to do, and then you have to make the best decision that’s in the best interests of the franchise, as always.”

Is there another Free agent thread for other rumors? Bulls may be looking at acquiring Danny Granger from the Pacers. Makes sense, actually. Bulls would get their 2-guard to run with Rose and Indiana opens up a spot Paul George.

Nope. The Nets are always used for leverage. Ask Kobe.

Leverage for who???:lol: We have Orlando on the clock they don't take this deal we moving on and their stuck with hedo.

This ain't Melo. Look at what Otis said. "he will do what's best for orlando."

dwight said out his mouth he wants to play with Deron

ur really counting out the clippers, deandre and gordon plus a couple of 1's is better than the nets offer and the clips could take hedo as well. otis has options.

and they're willing to take on gilbert arenas contract..so they don't even have to use their amnesty clause on him..

If they include Gordon who is gonna play in the Clippers backcourt?

deandre is a free agent they have relinquish their rights to him in order to even be in the running for Dwight. Same way we would have to with Kris.

Again we have GSW and Houston pick this year. Also the Clippers said they would be willing to take back Hedo to and give up multiple picks as well??

Otis has options but after december 9 those options will be slim.

that is why he is changing his tune.

before the lockout Otis said this.

Smith wouldn’t divulge the teams who have made a run at Howard — or the fellow GMs who tried to hoodwink him during Dwight’s raw, formative years, he said.

Smith expects clubs to come calling before the trade deadline, thinking the Magic would rather receive compensation instead of letting Howard walk as a free agent.

Smith made it clear: He’s willing to take the risk.

“Sure,” he said.

There’s a reason he feels that way.

He reiterates that teams dealing superstars never get fair value, which is true, but there’s something more.

Smith believes — and this is obviously encouraging news for Magic fans — that Howard will stay in Orlando when all is said and done, texted and tweeted.

“That’s my sense,” he said.

he said that in april compare that to what he said today.

Also as David Alridge said.

Ever since Proky has been part of the Nets they have always added cash along with their trades.

Remember the Nets gave the Wizards 3 million to take Yi. We gave Utah two first round picks Devin harris and Favors. Plus 3 million. You don't think Proky won't reach in that check book and add cash along with this trade.

Remember Orlando owners said if Dwight is gone they don't want to spend money.

These are the guys who run otis. Which is why Otis has gone from "I ain't trading Dwight." to "I will do what best for the Orlando Magic organization."
