I know you guys are busy as I am, but fuck it. Let’s do this damned thing.
Theme: Horror - Give us your best horror story.
Length: 3000 words max. I mean it.
Deadline:Halloween at the start of Trick or Treating (6PM EST)
Prize: Highest scoring story gets a free year membership to BGOL paid by yours truly. In the event of a draw between two stories we'll hold a vote on just those two stories. Whichever one gets the highest score wins the free year membership.
Halloween horror themed, I don’t care where you go with it, really, just as long as it is based in/on/about Halloween.
Rules:
No fan fiction. The biggest and best part of story writing is coming up with YOUR OWN idea. If you take an idea that someone else had and expound upon it that is cheating. One guy in the last contest used parts of The Walking Dead graphic novel, describing in words what the artist drew in pictures – not cool. It is plagiarizing. It was so good a story that I passed it on to a friend…a friend who happened to be reading The Walking Dead at the time and he pointed out in the book where this guy had stolen his “inspiration” from.
So please, if you join this contest, use your own stuff. Even if you ask your kid brother, niece or nephew for an idea and write about that, that is cool. Kids have the damnedest imaginations. Just don’t take something that is already written or drawn and turn that story into your own story.
3000 words. I upped it from the past contest of 2500 simply because it is so difficult to fit the details that make a story good into 2500 and I always had mine over and had to cut the pieces off of my baby hurt like you wouldn’t believe. I know all writers feel the same. 3000 is the limit, and votes will be removed for every word over the limit
3001-3100 = 1 vote removed
3101-3200 = 2 votes removed
So don’t go over the limit. This is just for fun. An internet contest for BGOL bragging rights.
