This thread is STILL going on? Damn. Yo, what most of you "it was self defense" people need to realize is that this regardless of whether or not you think dude crossed a line in what he did or not, the law doesn't care about explanations and/or excuses for why someone broke their rules. Sure, the guy may have snapped, and gone over the line due to that, but the fact remains that he did it. He stepped outside of what is legal in terms of a self defense claim and he became the aggressor. That is all the prosecution cares about. Their job is to prove that a person broke the law. They don't give a shit about why the person did it. When this goes to trial the judge and/or jury might even give dude the benefit of the doubt and say that he might have felt threatened and that doing what he did, to the extent he did it was his only way to survive the situation. That could be their emotional, rational, human response, but they are not allowed to think that way in this process. Their duty is to look at things legally. When they do that, they will see that despite the "normal, human" elements of what this man did, he did go above and beyond what was legal. That in my mind, is why they will find him guilty of what he is charged with, and send him away for a while. It's not about blame, it's about the laws that have been written and whether or not someone broke them. If anything, we need to change the law(s)...
