Going by ratings, Awesome Kong and later Angelina Love were the top stars for the company.
It always has to come down to in ring skills if they decide to make them wrestlers. Bad matches, no matter how hot the Diva or Knockout, kill shows. Give me and most wrestling fans a nice looking woman who can wrestle over extremely hot looking model who's the shits in the ring anyday.
There is a place for hot chicks that can't work and it's called being a valet or manager.

C/S and that's why i hated how Candice turned out because she is hot and was really coming into her own, her match with Beth had the fans excited all throughout but when she hit the mat that was her swan song. Vince has made it known that he doesn't like managers/valets which makes no since seeing as how they can really help put over talent. Im a little skeptical of Kim returning to TNA because her and Kong had outstanding chemistry, and now that Bischoff is running things i don't know if she's going to have the same success.

Man you ever seen the Bella Twins in person? Them bitches is FINE and thicker than you'd imagine. I had me a seat by the rail once and when them fine mothafuckas came down I almost thought about snatching one of they asses up and disappearing into the crowd!

I LOVE the damn Bella twins man...

they have a following here in AZ(theyre from scottsdale originally)

Stan Hansen won the AWA title during the 80's.Unfortunately they had an issue and he left for Japan.

Your list failed to include Rick Rude

Damn thanks, how in the fuck did I miss Rick Rude:smh:. Curt Henning was not ready in the 80's but early 90's most def. Curt did win the AWA strap but IMO he became better in WWF. Also we remember Kerry and................Tommy Rich.

I actually don't think most of those guys were world champion quality guys. Hansen and Lawler actually were AWA champs. Brody was unreliable as shit. Jake, Muraco and Piper had bad drug habits. Tony Atlas couldn't talk for shit (and still can't). Nikolai, Bundy and Studd were good big heels but they weren't world champion good. Tito, Arn and Greg were great but they lacked that "thing". They were right where they should have been regional and secondary champs that got world title shots occassionally.
I do think Butch Reed and Steve Williams should have been world champs. Dibiase would have been WWF champion but politics fucked him up (just like Bobby Roode). Bad News says WWF brought him in with the promise of putting the belt on him.

Firstly thanks for the correction on Hansen and Lawler, and I grew up in AWA territory:smh:. Otherwise damn Dave you tore my list of legends to shreds dave:lol:

I am glad we agree on Butch Reed:yes:, from around 83-86 Reed should have at least got the belt once. Steve Williams we agree that he was a beast:yes:. Good you also agree on Bad News:yes:. I strongly disagree on John Studd not being deserving. You have to remember he had Heenan. Still need your opinion on Orndorff and Windham.

Eric Bischoff Gaining Power In TNA, Spike Not Fans Of Dixie

Spike TV has apparently lost a lot of faith in TNA president Dixie Carter, stemming from Kevin Nash and Booker T leaving the company last year.

Dixie had sold Spike executives on the idea of getting the Main Event Mafia back together last year, and they had big plans for it, without having Nash and Booker under contract. Nash and Booker both ended up in WWE and the whole thing fell through. With the Main Event Mafia plans dead, TNA booked the Fortune split from Immortal on the fly.

Due to Spike TV’s lack of faith in Carter, Eric Bischoff is said to have inherited more power in TNA. Sources say that Spike execs work directly through Bischoff for almost all TNA-related matters, and they want to deal with the former WCW president almost exclusively.

Gail Kim: WWE tell their Divas not to punch or kick

By ROB McNICHOL

FORMER Diva Gail Kim has revealed that while she was with the company, WWE would tell their female wrestlers not to punch or kick during matches.

Last week, we told you how Kim has vowed never to return to Vince McMahon's organisation.

And now she has lifted the lid on a major grievance that the women's division lacked leadership and was not treated with respect.

Speaking exclusively to SunSport, Kim said: "I heard many times that they want the Divas to be girly. They didn't care about the heel girls getting any heat.

"We just didn't understand. They did everything in their power, it seemed, to take everything to give us a good match, for the heels to get any heat.

"It was no kicking one week, or no punching the next. No this, no that. It was at the point where I was asking whether we could do anything at all."

WWE have received criticism in some quarters for focusing on 'PG' TV — in other words keeping their show family-friendly, with much of the content aimed at pre-teens.

Regardless of the quality of the shows, it has always seemed odd to many that they would focus more on the desirability and sex appeal of their Divas, as opposed to concentrating on the women with more talent in the ring.

Kim, despite being obviously beautiful and sexy, falls very much into the 'wrestler' category and she was left feeling bemused by the confused status of the division.

She added: "Every week the rules would change. I think we were in London for TV and David Hasselhoff was guest host of Raw. We had the match where we did the slo-mo entrance run. It was really funny.

"That day they brought us the ugliest one-piece bathing suits for the match. The seamstresses fixed it, but they were very PG and they said, 'We've got to cover you guys up'. No ass hanging out, basically!

"We did our rehearsal for the entrances and after that they had a discussion amongst the agents. One agent came up to us and said, 'It's not so flattering on the chest. Maybe you need to do something about that'.

Gail Kim
NO DIVA ... Gail Kim is disgusted with what has happened to WWE's women's division

"Basically they meant 'show more cleavage', so they are never really happy. It's one way one week and one way the other.

"When I signed with WWE I was really happy that they had the PG thing going on. I thought' 'Yes! No more bra and panties matches, no bikini contests'.

"With the success of the TNA Knockouts, that's when they started having their girls wrestle a lot more in WWE.

"I thought, 'This is a perfect time for me to come in. They care about women's wrestling'. Sadly it was just not the case.

"It pretty much went downhill after a few months and it's just disappointing to see."

In April this year, vignettes began airing hailing the arrival of a new Diva, called Kharma.

Those with knowledge beyond WWE knew that this was Kia Stevens, a hugely talented wrestler who had appeared in TNA as Awesome Kong.

Kong and King had a series of tremendous matches in TNA which were arguably as good as any you will see in women's wrestling.

When fans knew Kong was on her way to WWE, they were excited. However, four weeks after her May 1 debut at Extreme Rules, she was forced to take a leave of absence due to pregnancy.

Despite the curtailed run of Kharma, there was definitely a palpable sense of excitement and expectancy at her arrival. Did the WWE Divas feel as enthusiastic about her arrival?

Kim said: "I felt that way and I'm sure the other girls felt that way. We were really excited at the prospect of what would happen with Kong.

"With Kong you can't just throw her out in an eight-girl tag and have it mean nothing. She actually had a storyline and that was the main thing we were excited to see.

"We had a storyline where she broke down in the middle of the ring in front of all of us, but even before that happened, when she came out and the crowd erupted, I remember getting goosebumps.

"I was out there thinking, 'Wow, I have not heard the fans react like that since my time at TNA'.

"It was amazing to see and it proves right there that the fans can get into female wrestling, that the fans want to see it and that they will react like that if they are given a storyline.

"People say women's wrestling sucks and nobody wants to see it, but every time there are storylines and they invest in the women, people react and love it.

"Everyone in the office acted like they had never seen our stuff, which makes me laugh because Johnny hired me back for a reason.

"It's funny how people in the office act like they never watch TNA, follow TNA or know anything that's going on with TNA. In my opinion they are all lying!

"They all knew who Kia was after what she and I did in TNA. They hired me back for a reason. If I was doing nothing during that time I don't think I would have got hired back."

94? What took you so long?:D I've been on this bandwagon since the 80s.

80's I was NWA, AWA, and UWF. Caught a little of the WWF mainly because of The Ultimate Warrior, but that was it. Wasn't worried about Hogan cause he wasn't in the NWA/WCW..94 hit I was steamin

:lol: Sorry but you asked for a debate and I love chopping it up over this rasslin' shit.:D

Man, Butch was a personal hero of mine. He was the first Black wrestler I had ever seen that was "special" in that way that Ric Flair or Rick Steamboat or Dusty was special. He was just as good as the best of the White boys. Junkyard Dog was good but his name was Junkyard Dog while Reed had a real name. Of course when I had the chance to say this to him a couple years ago, I froze up like a 7 yr old.
I have nothing against Studd and I had seen him in other territories before WWF but he just never had that "thing" that says "World Champion" to me, but that's me.
I didn't mention Windham and Orndorff because I didn't think anything else needed to be said. Both of those guys should have been world champions somewhere. Barry got a run with the NWA title later but it wasn't the same. But if Dolph Ziggler can walk around being called a former World champion, then so can Barry Windham.

Just like Dixie, not being a wrestling person, has held onto Russo for too long, Spike, not knowing wrestling, is buddying up to Bischoff.
The best case scenario is Bischoff uses this to get his shows onto Spike or gets a job with them and leaves TNA. Otherwise, this is bad news.

I will give him credit for one thing and that's the Reaction show, i thought it was well produced and i wish the wwe would do something like it.

I hear what Gail Kim is saying but why was any of this surprising when she reentered the WWE? Just from watching the WWE the last 3 years I could've told her about the conditions just from watching it on TV. Anyway, WWE (and to a lesser extent TNA) have problematic female wrestling divisions right now. If a female really wants to wrestle in the US Shimmer is the place she really needs to be at. Otherwise, suck it up and be happy with you 5 minute matches that fans use for bathroom breaks. The last time I really cared about a woman's match on "mainstream" Western wrestling TV was back in 2008 in TNA. Chikara doesn't even have a women's wrestling division, but the way they set equality among women and men wrestlers I'm as excited to see Sara Del Ray take on Madison Eagles as I am to see Daisy Haze take on one of the Colony members. Wish more promotions in the US would use more of an amalgamation philosophy when it comes to pro wrestling like Chikara has.

That was a good show, it was all the promos that should have been on Impact! condensed on a tabloid type show. Once that was canceled, I was hoping Bischoff's time might be up in TNA.

I agree but it wouldn't work in a bigger company like TNA and WWE. Daisy Haze can take on one of the Colony because she's a healthy size woman and their little guys and they're aided by the booking philosophy of Chikara. When men lose to women in the bigger companies, it's usually not realistic (even if the guy carried her to a good match like Jericho and Jarrett did for Chyna) and if a female beats a smaller guy in WWE or TNA, without it being the flukiest of wins, he's done. How does he ever beat another man on the roster?

Tomko's out.

Former WWE and TNA star Travis Tomko posted bail yesterday and was finally released from jail. He will be immediately heading to a drug rehab program sponsored by WWE.
Travis' attorney James McCune told The St. Augustine Record, "He’s very grateful for all the support he’s received from his friends, family and fans around the world. Mr. Tomko realizes he is struggling with an addiction and with the support of his family and the WWE, he is voluntarily checking himself into an undisclosed treatment facility to receive the help he needs for a successful recovery."

Tomko was arrested on 10/10 after allegedly stealing oxycodone from a local pharmacy. He was later found in a restaurant bathroom having melted down and injected the drug, according to police reports.

I don't get the realism claim when the biggest company has dead people, sledgehammers, and attempted murder in story lines. Undertaker chokeslaming Edge straight to hell is no more realistic than Sara Del Ray wrestling a competitive match that the crowd cares about against Icarus. In fact it's a lot less realistic. I understand WWE fans are "educated" to let that kinda stuff slide, but it's certainly not realism that the WWE is tapping into.

I understand and agree to a point but it does come down to how you present your product. Where WWE fans can suspend disbelief that HHH is really wacking people with sledgehammers, they would not buy a guy who may have had some competitive match with Mark Henry or Kane or Khali one week, even toying around with a Natalya or even Beth Phoenix. To their credit, TNA got that when Kurt Angle was wanting to do a job to Kong when she was KO champion.
Let the women have good matches with each other and don't water down the divisions with models who are afraid to take bumps and who can't hit the ropes (the one thing Kelly Kelly does worse than the Thesz Press).

 I saw 12 Large Summitt match between Del Ray and Claudio Castagnoli and it was great because it was believable and told a great story.Usually if you see a female-male dynamic in a wrestling match the woman is muscular and the guy is on the small side compared to the other wrestlers but in this case Castignoli is a jacked 250-260 pound guy.

Stan Hansen won the AWA title during the 80's.Unfortunately they had an issue and he left for Japan.

Plus Stan Hansen and Doctor Death Steve Williams won the triple crown championship in all japan is considered a major world championship. Stan Hansen and Doctor Death were bigger in Japan than in the states.

Watching Smackdown tonight, I think WWE should make a play for Desmond Wolfe and pair him with Wade Barrett. Give them a manager like Cole, and I think they could be dope together.

Not to change the subject people, but why don't they just release Daniel Bryan?? He's losing every match and now to Wade Barrett who they are doing nothing with?! This dude won MITB(not like you'd know with this big ass losing streak he on) and they going down the same road with him they did with Low-Ki/Kaval. Fans want them to win but they job them out like a mother fucker. He has a set shot at the title and he's being treated as a jobber every night. I don't get it, he's not just losing but losing to guys they not pushing anyway. He could be fighting Miz, Truth,Ziggler, Ryder,Christian, Kofi, Bourne he should be in a feud or something that puts him over as a viable contender. Pardon my rant

They probably would have done that if he had passed the physical after signing with WWE.Currently Wolfe aka Nigel McGuinness is announcing for ROH and his in ring career appears to be over due to some undisclosed condition which is horrible because he had the potential to be big in the WWE.And he was in OVW for awhile years ago and the WWE didn't take advantage and sign him then for some reason.

Unless he asks for it or has another tie choking incident he'll stick around. The fact that Vince was the one to call when he got released before seems to mean that the company holds him in high regard besides he can pull a good match out of damn near anybody.I think that the plan is for him to cash in at Wrestlemania. That said in the near future they need to start building him up towards that.Hopefully it also means that Mark Henry is keeping the belt until then as well.

Haven't watched Smackdown in a WHILE, but is Bryan still Mr. MITB? Does he still have the briefcase?

If so then you're right. I completely forgot he won that match.

Well as Dave has said, WWWE likes to push new talent and then job them out to see how they handle it. But to my knowledge they've only done that with heel like Sheamus & Barrett. Bryan haven't been jobing his entire stint like Kaval did. Bryan was some what undefeated for a while after his feud with the Miz. They're making Bryan save the mitb briefcase so that's he's the first person th cash it in at WM. The World title match will most likely end up being a triple threat match so that Bryan loses up gets an surprise win.

Everyone feel the same way Dave. It's just fucked up how Roode got such a raw deal. I understand Storm is more marketable than Roode as Hogan said & TNA wanted to break Beer Money up and by bring back Chris Harris. It's like WWE & TNA just wan't to take short cuts by rushing angles. I really hope they give Roode & Harris atleast a month or so before we see their friendship collapse and become rivals.

BTW didn't Arn Anderson & Muta have a rivalry over the WCW TV title back in the day?

If i remember correctly, Arn beat him for the TV title. 2 of my top 10 right there Arn and Muta
