My fav Martial Art

Full contact knockdown karate

punches not allowed to the head (sparring, competition) but they do train to strike to the head...very brutal art....

Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art developed by African slaves...it was banned by slave owners....it was later incorporated into dance movements in public...

there are 2 different styles Angola which is slower & pays more attention to rituals....Regional Strategy & technique are key points....

Kodokan Judo was created By a small frail man named Dr. Jigoro Kano...he was a master Ju Jutsu practitioner who trained at many schools.....

As Japan began to adopt western culture Ju Jutsu started to become obsolete...other than a few masters that taught family members....

Kano who trained at many schools decided to try to save Ju Jutsu....so he combined all the knowledge from the schools he trained....

he also wanted to create a sport....so he omitted the lethal techniques & strikes.....he left the throws, locks & submissions....he also added his own...which became Judo...

....in 1932 Olympic games he gave a demonstration with 200 students....later in 1964 it became an Olympic sport...

he is known as the "Father of Japanese Sports"

he became the first Japanese member of the International Olympic Committee....

Akiyama Vs. Manhoef

Akiyama legendary Judoka & current UFC Middleweight fighter....

Dutch Kickboxing (Netherlands)

Mixture of Kyokushin Karate, Western Boxing, Muay Thai

Biggest Differences between Muay Thai & Dutch Kickboxing

more emphasis on footwork, more combos with punches & kicks, most gyms train heavy in Western Boxing more head movement better hands.....

Muay Thai kicks are done with the shins making them very powerful....while Dutch Kickboxing uses the foot....

Kyokushin Karate (Japan)

Founder Master Masutatsu Oyama was a student of Goju Ryu (Karate) & Judo for years until he decided to start his own Dojo....He retreated to the mountains for an annual well known solitary training period....he developed Kyokushin also known as the "Ultimate Truth"....he combined his knowledge from Western Boxing, Judo, Goju Ryu & Shotokan Karate...

the style reflects its founder....Oyama was a strong man...He is known as the father of Full contact Karate....Kyokushin emphasizes realistic combat, physical toughness & the war of attrition...

Kumite (sparring) is full contact....punches to the head are illegal although they train strikes to the head...they are also 100 man Kumite....

UFC's WW champ GSP, Dolph Lundgren & Micheal Jai White have Black Belts in this style.....
