"We're supportive of the President, but we're getting tired y'all." - Maxine Waters

Funny that it took 2 1/2 years (plus all the time before then on the campaign trail) for Maxine Waters to figure out that Obama had no plan. Ironically, the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is holding a jobs fair in a time when black unemployment is at a record high 2 1/2 years after first black President took office: CBC Jobs Fair in Detroit. Witness the three blind mice:

It's not funny in the re-telling.

He wished Gunner to get a staph infection.

Since we're currently kicking this around on the main, I didn't have the energy to do it again here but Heat's response came out of nowhere.

So....................Maxine Waters seems to think the govt can create jobs?

Re: Fired-up rep. Waters to black voters: We don‘t criticize obama because you ’love’

So....................Maxine Waters seems to think the govt can create jobs?

It's the same logic that says employment increased while unemployment increases.

The government not only can create jobs but it can also create demand.
Or has idealogy decided that the people who work for the government don't have jobs? When the government builds roads and schools, those are jobs for the actual construction workers and for any of their contractors.
When the government buys/leases cars for their official fleets, they create demand.

It's the same logic that says employment increased while unemployment increases.

That's not just logic, it's historical fact. Just this summer, unemployment numbers went up while the private sector added jobs for another consecutive month.

Re: Fired-up rep. Waters to black voters: We don‘t criticize obama because you ’love’

Military–industrial complex (MIC), or Military–industrial-congressional complex is a concept commonly used to refer to policy and monetary relationships between legislators, national armed forces, and the industrial sector that supports them. These relationships include political contributions, political approval for defense spending, lobbying to support bureaucracies, and beneficial legislation and oversight of the industry. It is a type of iron triangle.

The term is most often played in reference to the military of the United States, where it gained popularity after its use in the farewell address of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, though the term is applicable to any country with a similarly developed infrastructure.

The term is sometimes used more broadly to include the entire network of contracts and flows of money and resources among individuals as well as institutions of the defense contractors, The Pentagon, and the Congress and executive branch. This sector is intrinsically prone to principal-agent problem, moral hazard, and rent seeking. Cases of political corruption have also surfaced with regularity.

A similar thesis was originally expressed by Daniel Guérin, in his 1936 book Fascism and Big Business, about the fascist government support to heavy industry. It can be defined as, "an informal and changing coalition of groups with vested psychological, moral, and material interests in the continuous development and maintenance of high levels of weaponry, in preservation of colonial markets and in military-strategic conceptions of internal affairs."

The govt should get into the job creation business and stop handing out contracts to billionaires. Mark Cuban, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and most other billionaires got where they are thru govt contracts, tax breaks or both. Obama is being demonized for trying to stop the damn handouts smh.

Re: Fired-up rep. Waters to black voters: We don‘t criticize obama because you ’love’

Waters is right. Black Obama supporters dont criticize nor hold Pres Obama accountable for all the wrong reasons.

Obama is being demonized for trying to stop the damn handouts smh.

Pres Obama signed off on a big hand out less than 4 months after being in office. Of course it couldve gotten very ugly if he didnt...but regardless he couldve attached some regulations of the monies that he agreed to give out.

The Obama Admin should stop telling Pres Obama to lie to the American people by constantly saying that they wil create jobs. The government cant create jobs per se, but they can surely help spurt job growth; but theyre not even doing that. The only way the government wil create jobs is by starting BS wars hence requiring more soldiers.

Theyre on the news right now using another one of their scare tactics..... a la the whole debt ceiling BS... talking about how we might be going into another recession. Well we never got out of the depression that started a few years ago...so stop the BS!!!

Pay attention to how a lot of America people and the local and global markets respond when these scare tactics are used.

Theres a lack of honesty coming from our government. They talk to the American people like we're stupid...or fucking robots or puppets or something. Someone has to call them out on their BS.

.....sits and waits on the revolts; Revolts that will create more jobs via having the oppressed arrest/kill the oppressed.

My point is the govt should change it's mission statement and get in the business of creating jobs or making sure wealth is more fairly distributed. It can be done by doing away with contractors and hiring people to permanent govt jobs, closing most overseas bases and ending aid to foreign countries until we get our own house in order. Obama seems to be hinting at something like that by raising taxes on wealthy people and doing away with tax loopholes he just doesn't have the support of his party to make it happen.

Wealth is more fairly distributed? More permanent govt jobs? I guess I was raised to to believe that you get paid according to how important ($$) your job is to the company you work for. I think the govt is too big now and a lot of govt employees are overpaid. Throw in the costs of their benefits and you will see how big of a waste it is to have big govt.

You can believe that but it's not true. In fact, you're first statement disqualifies your last.
Government workers tend to be better educated and have more work experience so they should be better compensated. Or do we not believe in that type of merit pay anymore?

If these government workers are so better educated, and more experienced, why are they not working in the private sector?

I hope you're answer isn't altruism or that they are more pure-of-heart.

Come anywhere close to that again and you'll check out the sidelines.

Sorry I posted on your board. but I didn't realized it until I replied. I didn't curse and won't come back. I can't keep it G rated when it comes to politics....I'm too passionate

They work there for the better benefits and pay. In the words of the wise Charlie Sheen "Duh!" Considering the areas many of them works, don't we want the best candidates we can get for our money?

LOL!
I try to bro,but this foolishness ferreted me out! At least I didn't curse !

An Answer for Congresswoman Waters
Sara Goss

Congresswoman Maxine Waters is perplexed as to why President Obama has not been campaigning in any black neighborhoods. I'm not sure why she can't see it. The reason is extraordinarily obvious: he doesn't have to.
The President's schedule is packed. Between golf, fund raising and vacations, there isn't much time left over. So when he embarks on tours he wants to make sure he's addressing the independents that are going to be the difference between re-election and a pink slip. There are few, if any, independents in the black neighborhoods. He already has a 90% approval rating there so there's no one to persuade.
When will the President swing by her district? A prediction: when he needs campaign money or right before the election to make sure they get out and vote.

I can't even argue with that point. You campaign where support is weakest. When he was running, his team (himself, his wife, Joe Biden) came to NC many, many times and hit all the big cities. In comparison, Kerry and Gore never came here and lost the state.
The part about his vacationing is bull$!t but the greater point is right on. It's the politically smart thing to do.

200 years ago when the govt and market were young, trying to establish a identity, this important to the job mentality might have worked. We know now that rich people will hoard money, bring in illegal workers, use robots, animals anything to keep the money in their pockets. Today the govt has to be about regulating wealth distribution or 1% of the population will have the other 90% working for little or nothing.

C'mon Dave, this build-up in govt workers only undermines the productive sector of the country and creates more imbalances in the fundamentals

You really get into those wing-sites.

I thought what you said above might have been your own

words until I realized they came verbatim from here:

God knows no one can take unflattering pictures of private sector employees and that these are perfect examples of every government worker.
Cheap and beneath you, Lamarr.
