Yeah he's a real hero killing his family and friends,

And in doing so, saved many more lives and probably decades of blood spilled between the Uchihas and Konoha clans.
While also ensuring neighboring villages couldnt overthrow a weakened konoha.

First off, Itachi's allegiance was to Konoha (the Village) first, not the Uchihas (clan). That's where everybody is mistaken.
He didnt agree with the Uchihas principles.


I mean, in all the flashbacks we've seen in the Manga and anime, it dosent look like he even got along with anyone in his clan other then his brother and Shisui (Who also put the village above all else, but couldnt stomach fighting his own clan or have his eyes used against Konoha, so he offed himself). Itachi couldnt even stand his pops.
So basically if a war broke out between Konaha and the Uchihas, Itachi would be fighting for konoha.
We can criticize his decision all we want, but the fact is, the Uchihas had cut off talks with konoha and were planning on going to war against what Itachi cherished most. And i still havent heard anyone else offer up another legitimate way to stop the coup'.

If Sasuke ever got out of line and endangered konoha, the eye was to put him under a neverending genjutsu with the orders of "Protect konoha". Itachi planned to do a forcibly controlled mind fuck he couldn't resist for the rest of his life.

But he told Naruto he "hoped that would never have to use it", because everything was set up for Saskue to restore the Uchiha clans honor by killing Itachi and be seen as a hero.
But he had a backup plan in case Saskue threatened the village.

Itachi is not a "hero", but in order to prevent war and protect konoha, he did what needed to be done.

Wait for the Uchihas to make the first move, so it can be a "fair" fight?

Itachi had no clout among the Uchihas because of being suspected of killing Shusui and always being on missions for Konoha, not the uchihas. So if he would have tried to talk them out of revolting, the would have just told him to sit his ass down.
The only reason they left Itachi alone was out of respect for his father.

But yes, explain to me what Itachi could have done to convince the Uchihas not to go to war.

Yes I agree it was all really well thought out. My thing is Jae to me the uchiha are like a race of people. I just cant get over the fact that Itachi murdered his own race for the sake of those who segregated and looked down on them. They didnt even let them have a voice in the village.. He murdered them all which is something he didnt have to do to protect the village from a coup that might've led to a war. He killed the other Uchiha children who like Sasuke probably had no idea of this plot, but he still exterminated them all even the younglings. Even his aunt and uncle who ran a shop or some shit got merked. Then Sasuke who still loves the village and his friends gets a visit from Itachi who emotionally traumatizes him by making him watch the deaths of his parents for 72 hours over and over again. Which basically led him on a "fuck u Konoha" path right to Madara. I mean sure he might've had noble motives for his actions but does that absolve him of them?

He could have told his people of the leaf's plans to anihilate their clan and steal their eyes. So the Uchiha would have 2 choices run away or fight and if you ask me those 2 choices beat being murdered by your comrade while you were sleeping.

Because the leaf sent me to kill you because your planning a coup and endangering the lives of Konoha citizens.


Now after they finished killing him right there on the spot for that BS, that's supposed to stop the Uchihas from going to war?

Now they know they have no choicebut to fight, and can justify it by saying Konoha started it by sending Itachi.

Simply put Kishimoto forget the 'cannon' on his story and started to stray from the point, making the Antagonist the focal point, and trying to bring closure and make the Hero relevant again. Sadly though its not happening at all and the fans are fed up!
