Jay-Z x Kanye West- Otis

call me crazy, but I just find those comments a bit ironic from a board that posts comment after comment with the  smiley when ever it's a rawse or wayne thread and even gucci and 50 sometimes, but turn their nose up for these 2 cats like their taste in music is so discriminating.

You can't be serious... you can't listen to these cats and say "ehh I'm unimpressed, I expected more" and then click back over to your itunes and play some weezy like it's the hardest shit in the game right now

I've been saying that for a while now. pusha has to be caking, he's been doing most of kanye's writing for a couple months now

I think Wayne is wack and Gucci shouldn't even be considered a rapper of any type, but if a person thinks this is good lyrically... I can understand why they would like Rawse or 50 cause this is on their level of lyricism and sadlyRawse could do better than this.

Jay was a way better wordsmith back in the day and when he tried to take up the no writing shit he was at least good at putting his observations in perspective. This lackluster braggadocios at best.

Also any producer worth buying from, would take the Otis Redding sample clearance nod to make a beat much better than this.

Kanye is no Biggie.

Ye and Jay are in different aspects of their lives and careers than Jay and Big were at that time. It's like Eddie Murphy can't do "Raw" or Axel Foley anymore because he's not in that zone anymore, same with Jay.

Don't compare it to anything else. Don't overanalyze it, looking for flaws. On first listen, is it hot or not?

Jay-Z is no Jay-Z anymore.

Eddie can't be raunchy cause he's been caught with trannys and had to put that murder game down. Shit like that might make a nig lose his sense of humor. I think he's using that kiddy/bad movie shit like an invisible cloak.

Some of yall are way too hard to please...

This track is straight fire. I doubt it makes the cut because of how short the song is, how it stops abruptly (could be an unfinished version) and the fact that it has no hook, but if this is a sign of things to come then this is just an appetizer before the main course.

I guess you can't please everybody all the time:smh::smh::smh:

Won't make the cut so thats why they r throwing it out, Sounds unmixed and unfinished.

Jay always did the no writing thing since the first album.

This was better than anything 50 or Officer could do.

The one thing I don't really care for Jay-Z to work with Kanye is because that's all Kanye seems to rhyme about these days or whine about some bullshit, and Jay does the same thing. It's the exact opposite of when he used to work with Beans. They seem to care more about style and flow than substance.

Jay-Z is no Jay-Z anymore.

Kobe isn't Kobe anymore, but he's still better than most of the people in the league.

I seriously doubt that he always did the no writing shit. He's been on a decline ever since he made it public that he doesn't write. I might be wrong, but that seems odd that he would drop off like that.

This shit wasn't amazing... 50/Ross have never said an amazing verse but they have done shit on this level.

Kobe is breaking down physically with age just like all athletes. Writers (on paper or in their head) should get sharper with age.

He did it on Reasonable Doubt. I'm not sure if he did back in the Original Flavor and Mic Geronimo days.

Rappers don't get sharper. Look at Chuck D, KRS, LL, Rakim, Slick Rick, Ice Cube. All great rappers of their era, how are they now? Average, far from great.

Because you still have to deal with labels, the music industry in general and you have to sell records and get radio play. Plus life changes you. Jay-Z didn't worry about radio play at first. You didn't need radio to go gold and you really didn't expect it.

If you don't use it... you lose it. From what I can tell everyone you listed hasn't been continuously at it except KRS-ONE and KRS is a must better emcee now than the Criminal Minded days.

Chuck D might have been at it too, but I haven't heard it short of random mentions of Public Enemy albums every once and awhile.

It's alright but they used the wrong version of the song..... Should have used the more upbeat one..... Hmmm maybe for the remix if they're smart

peace

I just heard this by accident & this is what has y'all open for over 100 replpies?
man these niggaz biting the shit outta ghosface killas style!
Am trying REAL hard not to say nor think that.
The shit did nothing for me.
He's been talking that same 'Soulful' shit since SongCry & the JaguarWRight album where the only thing soulful was the music.

Muggs have allowed their standards to drop real low for the love of this man & his brand.

I heard that.

Lemme know when that JayElec shit drops.

I need to hear some lyrics &originality so its time to treatmyself & bust out with that Robbio DuckDown jewel someone already posted Thank Goodness.

Y'all enjoy them funnystyled kats.

peace

Or maybe Kanye doing like he did with the G.O.O.D. Friday songs like Runaway (extended version), Devil in a New Dress (added a Ross), So Appalled (Dropped Swizz) and See Me Now (Added Big Sean).
Throw it out there and tweak it for the finished product

He didn't drop Swizz and See Me Now didn't even make the album.

i'm not impressed with much new music nowadays (except KRIT) :dunno:

an yeah Sampson you ain't lying, that brooklyn's finest was on some next level shit... hell Love the dough was the same way

did want to say Yeezy went off though

Now that song was garbage.

Jay-Z is no Jay-Z anymore.

Alaska
No one even thinks about Eddie and that tranny shit from years ago. Dude got mega-rich, older, married, and had some kids. That mellows a man out and like most rappers (Jay in particular), he's not as sharp or as driven as he was ten, fifteen years ago.

It does seem like working with Kanye brings him down for some reason.
