i have to disagree. Game 2 clearly showed how immature that team is and unable to stand on their own without Kobe when the heat is on. The lead was cut to 5 and the Suns were on a 11-4 run and the Lakers were shook, not hitting jumpers not playing good D etc and Toby single handedly answered every shot Nash and Bell hit. Nobody else even tried to step up. I agree in general with what you mean but with Cook and Sasha on the bench( the lakers most confident shooters outside of Lamar and Toby) and with Lamar not remembering to take Marion to the whole or being caught in Dantoni's post double maneuver there was only Toby to man up and take control.

Ive never seen one great player who could do more than 5 average players in sync

Kobe is not an average player. He has won championships and tough playoff games. His leadership is needed however , as Cran Says: IT IS ALSO A DETRIMENT WHEN HE JACKS UP SHOTS AND YELLS AT TEAMMATES.

If Kobe had played like this all season and kept Caron they would have been a higher seed. As it was they barely backed in. With Odom and Brown you should not have to back into the playoffs. Odom is the perfect Pippen to Kobe. It took Phil to bring that out.

Phil's leadership is more important in the playoffs than the regular season. Not Kobe's.

I will say that Kobe's cheap shot thug play has rubbed off on the team. The Suns look shook.

I have watched all these games and watched Phil Jackson scream instructions to the team that were consistently not followed.

You left the next sentence unhighlighted
The lead was cut to 5 and the Suns were on a 11-4 run and the Lakers were shook, not hitting jumpers not playing good D etc and Toby single handedly answered every shot Nash and Bell hit.

Phil's leadership is the most required for the team, then the leader on the court who is Kobe and now the 2nd in command is getting visibly stronger and that's Lamar Odom.

like trojanfan said noi Kwame without ditching Caron and I prefer Kwame. Caron would never get the touches he needs to become the player he can be. He needs a shitty team where he can be a goto guy and be a star. I really think he could be a star. Anyway the Lakers need more talent at PF and C rather than another fuckin 2/3 guy.

If kobe played like this all year and Caron stayed they would have had a higher seed and we'd be watching Bynum play Center right now. Not sure how good or bad that would be.

We all know Toby should have been doing this from jump but rehashing the past now that he finally has gotten "it" is hater shit

Every team needs a person who will scream at teammates fuckin up
I havent seen that lately though- ive seen him encouraging his comrades and ive seen them doing the same and starting to believe in themselves

Well I wouldn't expect Kut-Check to Keep Caron and get Kwame...

I was saying that if it could be done that would be the way to go. Pure speculation of course.

Anytime someone says anything other than Kobe is the greatest it's HATER SHIT?????? What ....... is this high school?????????

We will know if Kobe has gotten "it" once they win the series. Before that it's speculation. I love the way he is playing this series thus far.
When I am talking it's more in response to the season long "debate" that we have been having here about less Kobe shooting = more Laker wins.

I like bball.....I give credit where it's due. WHen Kobe gave Nash a serving of roasted nuts I , as a bball fan loved it.

Agreed on the Butler thing though.

I just dont see the big deal on constantly rehashing the fact dude takes alot of shots even after he stopped doing it. Restating the same thing over and over and over can be viewed as juvenile as well.

This drama with Toby finally doing what he should have been doing is the most entertaining thing in the NBA right now. NJ-Ind is boring. Detroit raping the Bucks is boring. The Spurs Kings series is getting better now. Clips Denver is wack. I just have no interest in it. Dallas circumcising Memphis is horrible. Although that I can watch because Dallas is entertaining and I always want a chance to see Jerry Stackhouse shit on someone.

If Toby led the Lakers to the WCF or Finals would you or anyone of you other cats dedicated to exposing him all year as a hotdog(like anyone needed analysis to see that  ) agree his the best player in the league and is a bad mufucka or would you dwell on the fact he could have had something during the regular season or done more had he bought into his teammates earlier?

I do have to say that a large part of this is his team as a whole executing alot better. Notice Lamar Odom isn't wyling the fuck out at crunch time like he did at times in the regular season etc.

Kobe is playing like all u fuckers want him to play and u still talk shit about him
i KNOW. Lets keep it real; most of you Kobe haters dont want to admit that u r angry at him 4 the white girl thing. So co'mon M = most V = valuable P = player (not players) 4 that year so lets take a look:

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kobe_bryant/index.html
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/steve_nash/index.html?nav=page
When u c this be honest 2 yourself!!!!!!!
Then ask yourself who would be in the Hall of Fame, base on this year stats. only try not to put your foot in your mouth.

 Thats got to be the funniest thing I've heard all day. Who cares if he was accussed of raping a white teenage groupie? That has nothing to do with his on the court play. Seems like most Wobe fans couldnt possibly fathom the idea of someone actually not agreeing with Bryant's on the court style of play so they have to come up with absurd reasons to justify to themselves that a person that doesnt think Bryant is the best player in the history of basketball, it must be something personal. Well its not, I dont take personal bias into account when evaluating a basketball players skill level or ability.

First of all, I dont know of any player that EVER made the BHOF off of one year of statistics but since you asked the question here's your answer...

Steve Nash and here's why:

In head to head comparison of statistics, Bryant beat Nash in PPG, RPG (Only by 1), SPG, BPG (by hundreths of a point), TOs per game (A gunner avg only .3 less TOs/game than a PASS first PG? :smh: )

In head to head comparison of statistics, Nash beat Bryant in APG, FG%, 3FG%, FT%, A/T ratio, double-doubles, triple-doubles and the most important statistic.... WINS

Not to mention playing with an overhauled roster (that got worse) and only playing 4 games with the team's star post and on top of that he is about to win back to back MVPs which makes him a lock to get into the HOF.

The more people try to justify Bryant winning MVP, the more dumb they sound because he won the title he deserved and that was the SCORING title. As far as MVP is concerned, I'd rank LeBron James, Steve trash, Chauncey Billups, Tim Duncan, and Elton Brand all ahead of Bryant.

funny how it's always tobe's batty boy nation that brings up the OFF THE COURT arguments IN MY THREADS... where IN ANY OF MY THREADS do i mention tobe's OFF THE COURT behavior? guess it's because THEY can't (or don't want to) stay focused on what tobe can't bring to the court...

you wanna talk about fakers MVP take a long, hard AND HONEST look at what lamar odom has done this season then come back with REAL talk...

i'll help you: same number of regular season games, better FG%, better 3pt%, TEAM HIGH  rebounding (tied for 2nd offensive, 1st defensive), TEAM HIGH assists, better blocked shots (2nd), fewer TOs...

in the playoffs: same number of playoffs games, better FG%, better 3pt%, TEAM HIGH  rebounding (1st offensive, 1st defensive), TEAM HIGH blocked shots, fewer PFs...

but somehow tobe fans have their heads stuck so far up tobe's rectum that they give tobe credit for the fakers turnaround from 2004-2005.

also funny how people overlook the MVP candidacy of elton brand, who lead his TEAM in more diverse substantial categories than tobe, whose squad finished the regular season with MORE wins, and has the clippers up 3-1 over denver...

:smh:

We usually don't agree, and I still think Bryant is the best SG in the game today, but he did not deserve the MVP award. It shouldn't even be argued pretty much for all the reasons you gave. Is Kobe Bryant a better basketball player than Nash? YES. Will Bryant be elected to the HOF before Nash? YES. Did Bryant deserve the MVP award this year over Nash? NO.

right on. let's keep it REAL.

tobe's on the floor approximately 10 minutes TOTAL of game 4, only 2 minutes of that coming in Q2.

did the fakers implode? get blown out?

NO.

the suns and fakers are tied at 41 entering halftime...

it's the O, people, NOT tobe.

been saying it since day 1.

my thing is, if you put 5 AVERAGE players together who BUY INTO what coach jackson is selling, that squad will make the playoffs... PERIOD...

in the worstern conference with teams like memphis and sacramento qualifying, the fakers could've even made 6th spot without tobe...

what people always overlook is that tobe's poor play retarded the growth of the TEAM... no matter what their individual weaknesses may be (or have been), the fakers are a stronger team when tobe FALLS INTO STEP...

splitting the suns on the road is PROOF POSITIVE...

The Lakers are a stronger team when all the players have fallen into step. To say that the lakers would have made the playoffs without Kobe is exaggerating a bit- the two games against Utah (while Kobe served a two game suspension) is proof of that.

I think the Lakers would have made the playoffs without Bryant because this series is just an example of how they could have played ALL YEAR given the chance to play TEAM basketball. You say that the two games that Wobe sat out suspended and the Lakers lost is proof they wouldnt make it but what about the games that Odom didnt play and the Lakers lost BOTH. But Lakers haters never mention that ;)

Oh yeah Havoc,

Both of those being double-digits losses

those 2 games aren't really representative of what i'm talking about...

after all, how many games would luke walton otherwise play STARTING SG?
