I remember a battle I was at in the 90’s and Rob Swift was battling a young unknown at the time, who today is known as Boogie Blind. They did their sets and Swift finished off his routine with the cut, “the-the-the name is Chill Rob..” from the Ride The Rhyhtm album. The entire place exploded. I thought, “if only 45 King was in the audience to hear this.”

Unbelievable architect of the game and will be missed.

RIP King.

These guys were the real teachers. They were the reason we heard a lot of the music we did.

In cleveland, a DJ by the name of Lynn Tolliver played so much good music. Not just hits, but besides and other songs on the album as well. He passed away last year.

We owe so much to these guys. Though I did not know this man, I know the power in his contribution to the world. Rest in peace

I wasn't old enough to really understand the architects of this music until my teenage years and the first time coming across 45 kings work is when Jay-z dropped "It's a hard knock life" and come to find out he used it on tour for a warm up was even more shocking which lead to me learning about Queen Latif and Apache's connection,Naughty and the NJ thing.

RIP to that brother and his music will live on....
