Damn that is sad. Good post Que. I don't think the reality of war is clear to most Americans. These type of images should have never been censored. We try to forget that Americans are dying because of this war. I just pray one day all this killing stops for all of us.

I agree with this painfully true statement. It never really hit home
for me until I read the names of the deceased. 100's of brave young
men and women have died behind the lies and agenda of one man.
You can agree or dissagree with that war all you want, but the numbers
dont lie. Was this worth it.........................by the way
Where is Bin Laden

Even more reason to respect what the great majority of them do, in spite of the situation in which they have been placed. Don't you think ???

I think it's safe to say that virtually every U.S. citizen respects what the troops are doing in Iraq. However, I'd like to know exactly why the troops were sent to Iraq, and what has been gained because of it.

We are pretty much in agreement, though I tend to disagree that "virtually every U.S. citizen respects what the troops are doing" -- unless, however, the respondents on this board are not representative of "virtually every U.S. citizen." I too would like to know exactly why we are in Iraq, what has been gained and what has been lost.

Some of those questions are explored, but not fully answered in this thread:

such an honest discussion in that thread. a bunch of people that are against the war geniunely acknowledging whats been gained and explaining why that doesnt outweigh the cost.

just kidding.

Thanks for the posting...it's a solemn reminder that some people, despite what they may personally believe, have answered the call of the nation. This is proof of why war should be a last resort - when you have "leaders" like Bush who wish to fufill an agenda on shaky premises and hubris - this is the sad result. Say what you want about Bush or the other folks in the White House...but these folks who have passed deserve to be remembered. I have to pray my friend Jason isn't one of the dead Marines shown whenever I see these sorts of listings. I just hope we can extricate ourselves from a place we shouldn't have been in the first place.

They censored them because they wan't to keep their war machine rolling,if they showed them, more people would start to protest this fucked up war in Iraq

Re: A Family Remembers Their Soldier Son

i was going to wait to start this when i had all the tributes in chronological order, but god bless NPR for having more tributes than i could handle so i just decided to start now.

their 3 minutes+ per servicemember are more than any other outlet is willing to give. even the conservative shows in favor of the war wouldnt do this because they are afraid it will turn people against the war instead of honoring the troops.

so thanks to NPR.
