Luckily for me I've been blessed with good genes that I don't have to work out much to maintain my figure. However, I've decided that I want to start running. Yeah you read that right, I wanted to go from light workouts to be able to run a 5 and eventually a 10k marathon.

So I went on several running forums, read a few books and started this program called couch to 5k a little over 5 weeks ago. Tomorrow I will be starting week 6 day 1 and as of today I can run for 20min non-stop. Now, I know some of you may think that's nothing but for someone like me it's a LOT!

So I wanted to pass the website on to you all and encourage anyone who wants to become a runner to try it. I've seen great results in only 5 weeks that I can't imgaine stopping, in total it's a 9 week program. Once I'm done I will def. be buying my t-shirt!

Quick update! So sat. I ran 25min non stop with no walking and felt pretty good. I'm about to venture outside of the park and do the streets surrounding the park...I have less than 2 weeks left and I feel pretty good, the stretching before and after help ALOT....

I def. recommend this to anyone trying to improve their cardio! and it's sooo user friendly, the prompt let's you know when you are halfway done which gives you that extra umph to keep going....

I'm going to do my first one in Oct. I'm going to keep my regmine of 3x a week with abs/arms on my off days. I'll def. let you know how I feel on my last day...I'm def going to shed some tears the sense of accomplishment I have right now is unreal! :D

Hell yeah! I eat more veggies now. Twice as much veggies than in my past. Shit lady I love:lickinpussy: me some meat and will never stop!:yes:

I definitely want to take up running too...all my friends who did it through high school and college (and continue to do it) still maintain their great shape. I'm thinking of enrolling in a boot camp to jump start my physical fitness goals, but scared... I'm not that out of shape, but a sister doesn't want to be collapsing on the pavement either...

Start walking but walk at paste that will make you sweat (I love sweaty women) and work your way into a jog. What ever you do make sure that you turn your heater on. If you do not heat up you are not burning that much.

That is some sound advice...I would like to add that there is an advantage to ankle weights also, to build your leg strength...

I've been wanting to get into running for so long... however my shin splints just wont go away! The PT @ my gym showed me some exercises and tips to help reduce the pain, but fighting through the pain of them while running is torture. TORTURE!!

He said shin splints are common when you have larger calves "/ :( so you need to build the shins up ... its frustrating to do the exercises and still have the pain when trying to run ... but hopefully it'll pay off soon enough!

It could be your running shoes. Also, I have found that running on the treadmill eases you into road runs and definietely stretches. Hope it's working out for you...

I'm trying to be diligent in this diet regimen but I have these waves of cravings...that is not helping.

Then there is no real space for me to work out...which sucks.

I have a marathon in October and these people actually expected me to run...so now not only do I have to get in some decent shape to run but I need two more sports bras (any suggestions on those would be appreciated).




I'm in a tunnel with no light.:(

I try to do the fruit thing...this really cute dude that fixes my meals be eating all kinds of fruit and lost a lot of weight...but if I eat too much fruit I can't look at let alone eat it...I'm just coming off of a craving fix so maybe I can find some more pineapples...my fruit selection is very limited because every time I try to put in something new it's disgusting.



Guess I'll pull out the jump rope, wait for Zumba, and pray I don't die in October.

I love this thread. GYH can make this a sticky for part of the fall/winter? That's when people start to really pack on the pounds and lose motivation to exercise. We all need the encouragement. I have to teach a seminar about central adiposity in about 10 weeks so I figure I better get my abs RIGHT.
I like running magazine but I just don't like running anymore. The stairmaster makes me really work if I use a machine.

It's a time to get really motivated, we have all those dinners and banquets and shopping, get busy, either exercise or all the above, the time is now...!

Get You Hot, I'm looking to put on about 20lbs of muscle onto my frame. I'm 6'5 and around 225-230lbs, so I'm trying to find meals I can make that have the staples that I need (protein, carbs, starches, and good fats) that I can eat quickly yet still taste really good.

Can you throw out some recipes and ideas? I got the workout on lock right now, but I need to properly nourish my body.

Hey ;) Pile on the protein, keep the carbohydrates low and add a serving of vegetables to a minimum of two meals. Fresh ingredients are key, I shop almost daily for my meals and make sure the food is nutrient rich. Stay away from processed foods as much as possible...
