We all know that trump is not very bright, but why would he do this intentionally? The ONLY reasoning that I can think of is, he wants to get convicted, for whatever reason. But he can't be this stupid, can he?

OK I've been kicking around this idea for a while...he may want to be convicted so the US govt/taxpayers can pay for his expenses and upkeep for the rest of his life.

If convicted I am convinced he wont be going to jail he will essentially be on house arrest at mara lago or any of his other properties he wants to visit. we know that he's broke and squeezing every dime he can out of his magats and the gop why not have the US govt pay for his living expenses?

Just something rattling around my brain .02.

My guess is that he realizes that he can't win the case. I'm sure that he's been told that, or that his lawyers have stressed how bad it is for him. So the only other option is to play the victim card and be a martyr. So he's deliberately doing things to provoke the court and to look bad to the jury, because it'll be easier to be punished by both and claim to be a victim than it would be to try and win the actual case on any real merits.

This kinda makes sense but it's still a stupid strategy, but at the same time, this is trump we're talking about, so yeah, he's just that stupid. :)

You missing the point homie. He declared the shit as legal expenses and charged it to the campaign and there's more to it.

Two women who said they had affairs with Trump years before he ran for president were paid six-figure sums in the months before the 2016 election. The first woman, Karen McDougal, a Playboy model, was paid $150,000 by the National Enquirer’s parent company, American Media Inc., for the rights to her story. AMI promptly did nothing with the story. It’s a process known as “catch and kill.”

The second woman, who was born Stephanie Clifford but built a career in the adult-film industry as Stormy Daniels, was paid $130,000 by Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen to sign a nondisclosure agreement about her encounters with Trump. Cohen obtained a line of credit on his home to make the payment just before the election.

While a hush money payment is not necessarily illegal, Cohen and AMI have both admitted they broke laws by making these payments in an effort to hide unflattering information before the 2016 election.

Cohen pleaded guilty to two campaign finance charges in August 2018: causing an unlawful campaign contribution for his involvement orchestrating the payment from AMI to McDougal, and making an excessive campaign contribution for the payment to Daniels.

AMI, now known as a360media, was not criminally charged by federal authorities but did admit to making the payment to McDougal. The company paid a $187,500 fine to the Federal Election Commission for making an unlawful campaign contribution.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced Trump’s indictment by a grand jury in April 2023, accusing the former president of “falsifying New York business records in order to conceal damaging information and unlawful activity from American voters before and after the 2016 election.”

Technically, Trump is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records, a Class E felony. Trump was charged with a felony because prosecutors accused him of falsifying business records with the intent to commit or conceal another crime connected to his 2016 campaign.

Also remember what John Edwards did which is similar to what Trump did

Obviously, best case scenerio for Trump is this case is a Wash and he’s found innocent on everything(Seems highly unlikely..but hey!)

Let’s say worst case scenerio and he’s found guilty on the majority of the counts.

Now what? What’s a realistic penalty?

As much as I would love to see the clown go to jail let’s be honest? That will never happen!

Is it pretty much fines $$$ that he’d have to pay? Is that pretty much the worst likely, realistic, outcome for him?

Candidates can spend their own personal funds on their campaign without limits. But they must report the amount they spend to the Federal Election Commission (FEC). Cohen took out a loan on his house to pay Stormy. The National Enquirer paid the playmate. Why hide it?

And this ain't got shit to do with the government so stop the MAGA whataboutism shit.
