I think we've all seen some great documentaries (plenty of which via this forum alone). I just wanted to see which three you favor.

Note: I'm not talking TV/Movie documentary series, I mean single releases. And limit your choices to 3.

With that in mind, here are the three that, many moons later, still has me thinking about a lot of the content covered (and I tend to recommend to different people)...

Earth and The American Dream

New York Times

"In this passionate indictment of current trends, the filmmakers have spared no offender..."

Product Description

AWARD WINNER, SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL This beautiful and disturbing film recounts America's story from the environment's point of view. From the arrival of Columbus to the simple wilderness living of the 16th and 17th centuries, through the agrarian lifestyle of the 18th century, the changes from the Industrial Revolution, to the 20th century when most of the planet's resources have been depleted -- this film examines the North American landscape and all the wildlife destruction, deforestation, soil depletion and pollution that have been wrought to make the American Dream come true.

I'd hate for this thread to be deleted for adding links. If you all wouldn't mind, could you remove the download links? We have a section for movies here in the sub-forum that you can easily find the documentaries I, and others, have via the search button.

Gasland (2009) - It is happening all across America-rural landowners wake up one day to find a lucrative offer from an energy company wanting to lease their property. Reason? The company hopes to tap into a reservoir dubbed the "Saudi Arabia of natural gas." Halliburton developed a way to get the gas out of the ground-a hydraulic drilling process called "fracking"-and suddenly America finds itself on the precipice of becoming an energy superpower

Paper Clips (2004) - As a part of their study of the Holocaust, the children of the Whitwell, TN Middle School try to collect 6 million paper clips representing the 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis.

A Man Named Pearl (2006) - Angered by white residents' racist comments that he wouldn't "keep up his yard," Pearl Fryar teaches himself topiary sculpture and becomes the first African American in his Bishopville, S.C., neighborhood to win the coveted "yard of the month" award. This acclaimed documentary traces Fryar's inspiring story, as he grows into a legendary horticulturist, welcoming thousands of tourists eager to catch a glimpse of his stunning works of art.

Bonus:

Sonicsgate: Requiem For A Team (2009)- Sonicsgate chronicles the relocation of Seattle's longtime NBA team, focusing on the more scandalous corporate and political reasons why the Sonics left Seattle and became the Oklahoma City Thunder in July 2008.

Just keep in mind, that there is a section for downloading documentaries already on this forum. I was under the impression that links are to be kept in that section. I don't want this thread deleted or moved out of the main forum section because some people don't know how to use the "search" button.

Just recently saw "Searching for Sugarman". One of the most fascinating stories you'll ever see.
