One of hip-hop's parents came from Jamaica but the other parent was American. Hip-hop is as much blues, funk and soul as it is roots / reggae. Even your own article talks about how huge an influence black American music was on Kool Herc, Ming.

I'm not denying that BX had an influence on the the origin of Hip-Hop in the US. I'm simply saying that Hip-Hop's US origin began in Jamaica. Period. It's not the Jamaicans who aren't willing to share the history, it's the Americans. Not to mention, the other elements you referred to that created Hip=Hop migrated up from the South...
