You Guys Don't Consider Obama's Break With Wright A Little Suspect?

Moving out of the country, and changing Pastors are not exactly on the same level. Rev. Wright is showing us his true colar, and I'm more than certain that he showed those true colors to Obama on more than one occassion, in his pulpit.

People come and go from churches ALL THE TIME, and it's often because they don't like what the Pastors preaches/teaches. Obama has been a member of that ministry for twenty years. He was VERY content being under Wright, and YET ... TODAY, he decides that Wright is not someone he wants to be associated with anymore??

As I said before, your analogy was POOR, 'cause I can detest my countries history, and despise the political leaders ... and still live a good life in this country. I don't have to agree with what my country stands for to live here.

HOWEVER....

To choose a ministry, and to remain there, is to agree with what's being said by the leader of that ministry. Obama is obviously not an unintelligent man. If he was so repulsed by Wright, he would have left there a long time ago. Their are more than enough churches in Chicago to choose from for him to not have to sit and listen to his "crazy uncle". Anybody who'll say "God-damn America", no matter the context, in one of the largest cities in the country, is likely not someone who is new to make controversial statements...

Very rarely do people stay at churches for two decades, if they don't agree with the preachers views.

I totally disagree. I've heard Jeremiah speak many times over the years. He's a Howard alum and he has preached at Howard annually for the past 10+ years. I dont remember him expressing these type pf "radical" views before. So those that will say Obama has been hearing these comments for years I think are not informed. This seems to be some type of very od path Wright has taken on recently. So it's not fair to judge Obama by this one man's actions. With that being said I agree with most of these contreversial comments Wright has made recently but I don't understand why he's playing in to this stupidness.

Dude, you don't have to agree with EVERYTHING they say, but Rev. Wright has a history of making highly controversial statements. He has made statements that many would consider "anti-American". He said "God-damn America!!" over the pulpit. Rev. Wright's personal views OBVIOUSLY will make their way into his sermons, or their would have been no video tape of him saying what he said.

He dismissed Wright as a "crazy uncle" to the media, yet he remained a member of his church for twenty years. I read that Obama ACKNOWLEDGED that Wright has very strong, and controversial opinions, and because of that, he wanted to play down his connect ion with him...

It's alright for him to connected to this guy, but only if it doesn't prevent him from ascending up the political ladder? Come on, Wright's timing may not have been ideal - but, Obama is NOT innocent in any of this. He is no different than the other presidential candidates getting rid of people who will hurt their chances of getting elected.

As for "driving to Canada" - NO country is perfect, and politics is politics anywhere you go. However, you can live a happy life in the US. I'm happy in the United States, so why would I leave? At the same time, you go to church to be taught by your pastor. If your pastor is a known radical, and makes highly controversial statements, over the pulpit, and you remain there - ESPECIALLY AS A POLITICAL MAN - you will look VERY guilty when your Pastors statements hit the newswire....

oh I'm not saying that he hasn't made these types of comments before. What I'm saying is that I've seen him plenty of times and I never heard him make comments like that. So that tells me that this type of stuff is defintely not the center on his preachings. However, I dont have a problem with MOST of what he's said anyway. So I really wouldn't have cared how many times he's touched on this stuff before. Obama addressed this issue already and he did it very well.
