You Ever Tried Calling The IRS? What's Your Story?

BTW, their website includes a lot of information and you can do a lot with it, like pay what you owe and set up a payment plan. You can also get a complete history of what's been happening between you and the tax collector by signing up and going into the site.

But, you can't always get up to date information about what you owe (since interest compounds daily on unpaid bills) and/or get a lien released without talking to a real live person. I just spent 2 hours of my Friday hanging on the phone waiting to talk to someone, only to have a voice come on and say we advise you to call back when we might not be so busy.

TWO FUHKIN HOURS

I've had good reactions and bad reactions (over the phone). In person they are fucking assholes though

Here’s the thing all them commercials scaring you about them garnishing your wages is bullshit. You can call the IRS yourself and work out payment plans even offer in compromises if you owe a lot. I owed them about 20k a few years ago and worked out 3 payments with them . They allowed me to pay them 11,000 in three installments knocking off $9000. I laugh at morons who waste thousands allowing people like Optima tax relief scam them out of thousands for doing what you can do on your own. IRS agents goal is to get their money so they are always cool and will work with you. I still hate them though.

They're hard to reach over the phone unless you have a lot of patience. Once you get thru dealing with them is not so bad. Well at least in my experiences.

Once I got past the wait time the shit was easy.

They offered me a one time payment which was slightly less than I owed.

Calling the fucking state about state taxes made me want to go ring a few mother fuckers neck.

I called them once, and I was speaking with an agent on the phone. I was on a land line. He put me on hold and the call dropped. I called back, and I finally got to someone after holding on for over an hour. A different agent comes on and say's that we have to start all over because I hung up on them. He was a real asshole, too. I said, "I called you, so why would I hang up? And I understand exactly who you guys are, and there's no way I would be messing around with you." He said, " From the looks of this, you owe us and we're going to need the money in five days." I said, "I'm calling to try to work something out." He said, "Your too late for that. You have five days. Do you want to pay by electronic check or credit card?"

Then, I hung up and called a tax attorney. I knew that they weren't going to work with me, so I said, "Fuck it, I'm going to have to pay anyway." The tax attorney held them off of me while they worked on my case. Found out that they were hitting me up for a 1040-X form that was filled out five years prior.

The IRS is one agency that needs to be disbanded Quick, Fast, and in a Hurry. The California Franchise Tax is almost just as bad. I know that it's never going to happen, but I can still wish.

I do need to contact them myself but I am going to wait until June

I only talk to them around October. Really easy to get through. They be giving me tax tips and shit. “You know, if you just pay us early you can avoid all this interest.” No thanks. Shut the fuck up and take this money. See ya next year and stay out my shit.

Call first thing in the morning or go by the tax office. They cant really help you with anything other than tell you what your tax issue is.

I've called on numerous occasions and they couldn't be easier to work with. If you owe them money, call and tell them what you can afford per month and they'll probably agree to it.

The key is... You call them. Don't make them come for you.

2 hour hold time on the phone and anout an hour plus after that.

I had a REAL serious problem with my parents and Went in person. waited for about 1.5 hours and the Lord blessed me

That man actually not only listened but FILLED OUT THE FORMS and fixed the whole thing misdong his break.

Its a crap shoot.

Luckily I've had a very high success rate but only needed to deal with them like 3 times my whole life.
