There are boatload of politial jobs you can get just by knowing people. It amazes me that even in black jurisdictions these political positions are given to white people. Getting involved in politics does not mean doing it for free necessarily. Look for paid commisioner positions in your town you would be surprised at the opportunities you can get that only take 2 or 3 people to know you or like you.
