kanye should have called my nigga mike for that heat. or allowed hitboy to make his real hip hop shit. different doesnt automatically mean good.
we differ then. i understand what it was, i just didn't like that far off.
but 4 through 10 were solid and great and they still weren't typical songs.
i think majority of the people in here didn't even make it to 4 cause of 1 thru 3 not really into mickey moonlight or justice or mr oizo or mr flash.. then you ain't really feeling 1 thru 3.
i understood it it just didn't go over well.
but make an album out of 4 thru 10 this thread is different.

What happened to all that classic shit niggas were sayin'???![]()
what is real hip hop?
different doesnt always mean bad
he made it clear he didnt want to be on radio
Somebody PLEASE tell me what video game they sampled for #8 "Guilt Trip".
That shit is gonna fuck with me all weekend.
I hear a sample from "Fly Like an Eagle" from Steve Miller Band
Around 4:09 mark

SHIT IS GARBAGE AND WHAT IS HE SO MAD FOR?we differ then. i understand what it was, i just didn't like that far off.

Just downloaded the webrip, looking forward to hearing this shit
Everything I'm reading on here makes it sound like the worst shit ever made, while comments i've read on other messageboards indicate this is some extremely Ill shit right up there with MBDTF and I loved that album..
Gonna check it out and form my own opinion
I'll say this, people complain that some artist always sound the same. They never really show any growth. I have to give Kanye props for being a risk taker. This is far different from his college drop out day's. It has a couple of joints on there but overall isn't really my vibe.
you make a lot of assumptions about the majority of the people in this thread, despite what they acyually said- they don't like the album, simple and plain.
Music and peoples preference - thats it. Stop with the "you just didn't understand it" shit![]()
this nigga got 4 more tracks left to make my head nod. This noisy bullshit gettin kicked off my hard drive
i hate the album, guilt trip and bound 2 are the only 2 i could get into, i might put bound 2 on cd but i don't see myself listening to this shyt again.
just because ngz use different drums and patterns, got weird sound fx panning out of different speakers and some guitars doesn't make it creative and definitely doesn't make it good music. many dissed a lot of the techno type sounds on blueprint 3 and kanye's other albums, i liked some of it, because it might not have been gutter hip hop but it was good music....i can't call this crap good music.
dang this dude isn't the kanye who's cds i use to buy on the first day, the kanye i'd go on hiphopgame every week hoping for a new joint.....i can't fk with this dude.
sounds like musically he wanted to appeal to whites and lyrically he thinks the hood will love all the bitches and hoes he talks about fkn....i mean that's cool from most rappers but with kanye's high pitched voice all the bragging gets exhausting.
royal departs before the kanye fanboys come to assassinate him.

3000 was a regular dressing cat.Real hiphop is natural innovation not forced genius which is what kanye is playing up. he started the fake rants and irratic behavior as a ploy to boost his genius and abstract way of creating music. All of this is a set up, the rants, the pretend crazy, the weird clothes. it's all fake. He must have read a book recently about art and abstractivity. real innovators were that way from day one. Andre 3000 dressed funny from childhood. He didnt one day decide to wear shoulder pads as an adult and play the i'm weird and genius crap. Kanye goes from nerdy prep back pack hiphop guy, to angry weirdo rapping over hipster beats? no
also said i didn't like 1 thru 3 i understand what he was trying to do it just didn't work.
Worked for me.. And most of the net... except close minded BGOL niggas that want artists to keep putting out the same album over and over.
Shit is different, but I get the vision, and I understand where Daft Punk tries to go production wise....
When the videos drop, niggas gonna be jocking "On Sight" and "Im a God" tho..
that's exactly what he did.
and some of it works but most of it doesn't personally im deleting 1 thru 3 and acting like that shit never happened.
it ain't groundbreaking music and that's what we expect from kanye.
Maybe.
Im into the artists that i mentioned it reminded me of so i get it. it just didn't work well imo with him.
now the rest (which isn't normal rap either) was good to great to me
that's the thing, don't think i'm calling kanye garbage, dude is mad talented. i'm not no just like hip hop or just like west coast, etc....i like it all but i'm use to when that kanye beat starts you already know you like the song....even when artist like jay or pac used beats i didn't like, they often made up for it with lyrics or different subjects.
Not trying to diss his fans who like everything he touches, that use to be me....but i'm not feeling this...this is the FIRST kanye album where i don't think i'm crazy about 1 song. i like "bound 2" and "guilt trip"....new slaves is ok...maybe some other songs will sound better a couple of months from now....but i didn't hear any songs that made me feel like, i'm gonna bump this tonight.
at 1 point i heard he was working with jay z, nas, rick rawse and common for this album....i wonder what happened to that plan, how did we end up with chief keef.

Because this is a message board full of haters, that love to be the first one to hate on some shit..
The album overall sounds nothing like MBDTF or anything Kanye's done before, even though he drops a hint of his past shit here and there.
Which us why most artists stay in a box. Damned if you do damned if you don't with black folk.
The fuck is "normal rap"?..
Listen. We'll just keep saying the same shit over and over, so I'll leave it like this. What you just said is exactly why Rap/Hip-Hop is dying.. Everyone has a different opinion of what Hip-Hop is, and constantly try to put it in a box.
Those that put this album in expecting NOTHING will enjoy it for what it is. Those that put it in looking for Late Registration/College Dropout Ye, will never appreciate this album.
just because something is different and experimental that doesn't mean that its good
if its dope, I'll still buy it off iTunes.1- on sight
pure sonic euro trash from THE JUMP- 100% what happens when someone just walks up to a computer and starts pushing buttons randomly. Ye's verse is all off beat for a while, and regular ass verses about how dope he is.
He's finally come to the point, and hung out with enough gangsters to where he feels like he can call himself a "real nigga". Reall y bland rhymes about nothing. Totally just sounds like he went to someones crib and just jotted some shit down to the shitty beat.
Black Skinhead- This could be seen as something "out there" if it wasn't such a blatant sample of Marilyn Manson. Ye's flow here is cool.
The topic is cool, cept whoever he's still swingin against... is the white hipster audience who loves him. I personally don't care for the mix, but that's whatever. I like the topic, just strange hearing it from him- whatever. I'll take it, I guess. And the 300 references? biting from misguided 16 year olds aint the move Ye.
I am a God- another random button pusher that he seems to be trying to find something deeper to rap about. More shit about what everybody did to him. Still, I might have liked the lyrics here with a better beat. Not really into the chorus, just sounds like he's rhyming for the sake of riddling. If it weren't him, I wouldn't listen to this at all.
New Slaves- Glad he put this out first. Really forward beat, cool topic, cool production. This is what the rest of it is striving for I guess. Again, the topic is something that would be better coming from someone else more - Talib, Dead Prez, Mos Def, PE, Brand Nubian, Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Little Brother, The Roots- people who's behavior is more consistent with what he seems to want to "rebel" against. But do I like the song? YES
Hold My liquor- eh... noisy. Autotuny, drony, silly- Some kind of way to incorporate Chief Keef in his shit I guess, so he can be cool and edgy I suppose. I'm not even against autotune, but the way he uses it here is just stupid as fuck. Nah.
I'm in it- This shits starting to just be a noisefest at this point. Does Ye do drugs? Wait, the last two songs are all about pussy and drugs- after the revolution he seemed to wanna start with NEW SLAVES... whatever. Anyone who hasn't really dealt with electronic music, I guess they assume all electro shit has to be noisy, disorganized, muddy, poorly mixed, unmusical and ridiculously automated and sterile. WHo the fuxk is this singing this stupid ass falsetto? This is just dumb.
Blood on the leaves-
Autotune over a Nina Simone sample huh? And wtf is he talkin about? Ye, you're not a fuckin singer, STOP IT. I took it with the 808's album. I sat there and took it. It was neat to see you explore your melodic sensibility, regardless of how rudimentary it was. I just figured you had to get it out. I took that. Now the only thing showing is how basic and ABC you are. And stop doing Molly. I'm not against it, but I am in your case. It's not good for you. wait - "fuck them other niggas"- you're gonna sing that? This tells me, you were just freestyling and you don't give a fuck about us as an audience. well, fuck you dawg.
guilt trip- yeah, I'm convinced you're just out of ideas dude. I have to wonder if you ever really had an original thought ever, or were you stealing with others the whole time. This song literally sounds like one of them "auto tune the news" skits. You coulda had Antwon Dodson, Sweet Brown, and Charles Ramsey on this, and it woulda been what you were looking for.
Send it up- SO I found out "Send it up" is some way to say way to say you're robbing someone or sending someone to kill them or whatever- gangster shit basically. This does not belong in your vocabulary Kanye. Did I mention this beat sucks and the sounds are horrible, wretched, ill placed, poorly arranged, and basic as fuck? More rhymes about pussy or whatever. This is a shambles.
Bound 2- Well THANK YE, FINALLY. Come home to what you REALLY DO. This is hiphop, at least... Now do I actually like the song? not really- oh shit... did you just toss Charlie Wilson in the middle of this shit randomly? yes, you did. Look, I get it, you wanna do something "different"- well, you got anough money to sit back, woodshed, learn about other genres, and figure out how to incorporate them into what you do, so it really works. . I think you accomplished a little bit in "Watch the throne". Lots of electro elements that came in and out without being obnoxious.
This album is just a shitty mess. SO there. Thank you for making only 10 tracks of it. Remember how Common made electric Circus and needed you to get back on. You need a YOU right about now. Hope J Cole or Big Krit aint too busy to help you on the next joint.
DAMN, this review ALONE makes me want to give it a listen. Not a Kanye fan, though there are a handful of songs he has made over the years I like. Im just interested after this review to see if it can possible be THIS bad 1- on sight

on sight sounds like they just loaded up refx Nexus and used a fkn arp preset."fuck them other niggas"- you're gonna sing that?"
