YBN Cordae "Old N*ggas" (J. Cole "1985" Response)

He didn't
He broke down the cycle that happens
Old niggas told the old niggas now who were young their music aint shit and won't last and look where rap is.
Old niggas were the father's who weren't around
Old niggas are the ones going to jail being the face of shit
All the shit young niggas do in some regards they learn from old niggas then twist it to make it theirs

So instead of warning and chastising

Sit down and find common ground
Naw the old people that were saying that it wouldn’t last are the old people that were around when rap was becoming popular/mainstream. THe older rappers weren’t getting on there elders for not being father figures.

It’s the people now that are saying these microwave dudes music ain’t shit. Cole broke it down for him and YBN dude start bringing up people who aren’t even rappers (Cosby etc.)

These dudes ain’t learning nothing from the rappers from 90’s or early 2000’s

Dudes like Cole and Drake learned from the older guys and have catologs that they can tour and make money off of well after they stop. Meanwhile you’ll have people like “insert today’s rapper here” that think that they made it after one song.
Where’s people like Designer? Who’s still checking for him. There are many more like him. Granted I like some of the new stuff. But it will be forgotten next year. I can still pull out a tribe, ice cube early stuff and vibe. 20 years from now will people still be doing the same with today’s music?

His rap was decent but all these young cats are missing the point. They don't realize that rap music originally was self governing. You had to be fresh and down by law. It wasn't for everyone. Sucker emcees and calling weak shit wack are part of the lexicon. If you were wack, you got dissed. Plain and simple. We called dudes wack from our generation as well. They are just sensitive and can't take constructive criticism. Not to mention that it was also based on battling and saying that you were the best.

They shouldnt have sold it

Young people are infatuated with age.

the rate so many of them are killing each other or themselves,
they need to hope they can get called an old nigga one day.

Are you serious? Do you really want to compare crime rates today to the rates from the early 90s?

Old N*ggas by YBN Cordae
(J. Cole “1985” Response)
Released : 2018

Damn, Mizzy Mauri got beats

Uh, old niggas and new niggas, now what’s the difference?
All in the same boat in a stuck position
So when an old nigga talkin’ I don’t fuckin’ listen
They don’t know every day we make tough decisions
It seems though we is at a generational gap
Which bring conversation and a statement in fact
We can agree none of us is ‘posed to make it in rap
I understand both sides, let me break it in half
Let’s take it back when hip hop originated
And old niggas said it was wack, they couldn’t take it
And called it a little trend, said it wouldn’t last
Now it’s the number one genre as the time passed
Young niggas won’t listen and we know it
But old niggas always talk and never show it
You gotta practice what you preach and the classes that you teach
Will eventually listen, my mind mentally prison, uh
Lately all my idols they been failin’ me
Catchin’ sexual assaults and some felonies
Then you want me to listen what you tellin’ me
And wanna hate when we sing our little melodies
And other idols they be broke, get your funds in order
And Kanye West is a Trump supporter
Then we got R. Kelly and Bill Cosby
Who still probably got lil girls in the Hills lobby
And these supposed to be our heros? negro please
Old niggas unreliable like D-Rose knees
Only man I can trust is G-O-D
Not to mention Mos Def and Talib Kweli
Now I get it, y’all think new niggas really suck
And white kids fuckin’ love it, lil silly ducks
But I know it’s a lot of bullshit goin’ on, I understand
But please don’t complain without a plan
Ironically I wrote this whole song off a xan, nah I’m playin’
I’m just tryna be a fuckin’ man
We see you old niggas as a lot of clowns
Not to mention our father figures was not around
So we all on tours and we hoppin’ towns
We just need to sit down and find common ground
And it’s soon to come, soon to come
Hip hop need balance like the moon and sun
It feel good when I wear Christian Louboutins
So I gotta drop music to accrue some funds
And I get it, that’s the mindset that’s killin’ the rhyme-fest
But feedin’ our families, lowering the crime yet
You want us to be separate and make a contest
Rappin’ to stay up out the streets, shouldn’t mind that
Stayin’ out of prison and we sayin’ fuck the system man
Rappin’ is an outlet to go and get our dividends
Rather than out robbin’ niggas, sellin’ Ritalin
Old niggas bitter, y’all should love it when a nigga win
‘Cause we came from the same struggle like Diddy and Dame Russell
Was teachin’ and gained hustle, got rich, remained subtle
See I listen, see I listen
But Lil Dae-Dae water whippin’ in the kitchen
Ready to flip a pack and bring it back, no submission
Gotta just go attack Lil Pump when you’re dissin’
I understand both sides of the Ziploc
Y’all old niggas’ time is comin’ nigga, tick tock
I’ma still wear all my Gucci flip-flops
And the fuckin’ diamond chain with the big rocks
And I’ll be the greatest ever nigga, just watch
Cardi B got rich from Love & Hip Hop, haha

I remember my father criticizing my listening to hip-hop in the late 80's. I understood where he was coming from, but I never wanted to be the old head talking shit without trying to understand. So I don't hate on the youth or talk down on their style.

Except that fag shit they're into now.

The YBN Crew Is No More

Heart been broke so many times, I don’t know what to believe … Ahem, excuse us … Just a little Rod Wave “Heart on Ice” to mourn the loss of the YBN crew. The group’s three main rappers YBN Nahmir, YBN Almighty Jay, and YBN Cordae have gone their separate ways, the latter even dropping the crew initials from his rap name. The split was first signaled by the de facto leader and the group’s first breakout star, Nahmir, on Twitter on August 6. “They left this YBN shit in the gutter,” he subtweeted. “Remember that. I’ll turn it up myself.” In response to a fan, he replied, “Yea, it’s only me kid.” On August 16, the Grammy-nominated artist formerly known as YBN Cordae dropped the “YBN” from his Instagram, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, and Twitter display names (his @ still has it, though). Some animosity detected, but if there’s any real beef, they’ve kept it offline.

The YBN (“Young Boss Niggas”) crew has taken on many forms over the years, but started with Nahmir and Almighty Jay on Xbox Live in 2014, when they were around 15 years old. (There are nine other members of the crew, but the trio holds it down mainly.) They found fame with their first and last full-length project, YBN: The Mixtape, in September 2018. Cordae’s “Kung Fu,” Nahmir’s “Rubbin Off the Paint,” and Almighty Jay’s “Chopsticks” all went viral. On August 11, Almighty Jay said he has new “music and direction” in a since-deleted Instagram post. And Cordae, who earned a Grammy nomination for his 2019 debut album, The Lost Boy, tweeted back in July that he’s ready to “unleash the vault.” YBN or not, new music is on its way. Their One Direction solo-career era has officially begun.

my old head even knows these dudes

now to be fair

I don't KNOW one line of any song

BUT I know WHO they are

don't really know their music outside the freestyle and the single

but Cordae can RAP I dismissed him early as another "internet rapper" but he nice.

the other one is OK too his album was surprisingly tight.

I TRY my best to listen to this dudes at LEAST once just so these younguns can't say Uncle Playa is a hater.
