A delivery driver for Uber Eats went viral after sharing a video of his reaction to the small tip he received from a customer.

In a video shared to TikToK, the Uber Eats driver told his followers that he had driven for an hour for a $1.19 (£0.84) tip.

“I wish people knew what it was like to deliver for Uber Eats, DoorDash, all these other companies. I just spent an hour driving around for a $1.19 tip.”

“Would it hurt y’all to tip us? Throw us $5? I got a $1.19 dollar tip and $2 dollar tip from the app,” the delivery driver continued. “What is that? It’s not even enough to cover gas. How am I supposed to survive like that?”

He went on to reveal that he was homeless and had struggled to pay for rent for four months, becoming visibly emotional.

“Everything fell apart on me and I haven’t been able to sustain myself, provide for myself, and these are essential services,” said the Uber Eats driver.

“I wish people knew what it was like, I just wish they understood what it was like to drive for these services,” he said, again referring to Uber Eats.

It was shared to TikTok by user “deliveryguy100”, and has since drawn over 800,000 views and thousands of comments.

Are They not able to see how much the delivery pays out before they accept the job? When I order food I have to pay and tip upfront so the info is there.
No they’re not allowed to see that info upfront because then they’d pick and choose orders to take. Just like Uber drivers can’t see your destination until they swiped that they picked you up.

Whether I agree with his situation or not, I totally disagree with getting on social media and crying bout your pay check like a little bitch.
Mind you damn near every store I been in over the past couple weeks has help wanted signs up.

The greatest game changer is if we could return to our natural selves. The job every black person was born with in the beginning was improving our temple which is our body and mind and fucking or you can call it be fruitful and multiply.
World best kept secret is that our health is our only real wealth. Anything else is borrowed including our lives.
They changed reality and created their own reality. We have been trapped in a white man's world or dream for a little over 6000 years

Do 13 more instead in the 45 mins instead of crying about a job YOU chose and you'll be making about $30 an hour. Get to humping. If it was easy everybody would be doing it. If it paid great the food companies wouldn't be having you do it they would all have Dominoes and Pizza hut trucks.

No, almost every restaurant and fast food spot is hiring right now. Plus janitorial, cleaning services and hotel jobs are all over. Its almost summer so lawn care jobs are everywhere. He says it all fell out like he had a job did he get his unemployment. If there is more to his story then I could understand but sounds like he wanted fast cash and didnt know the risks.

I know many people who have multiple $10 an hour jobs and they are not crying and putting in 60+ hours a week. I ask them how and they all say it has to be done.

Get a job

There isn't enough information in this vid for me to make a determination. I'd have to know dude's background. Is he stuck doing this kind of work? Is he trapped in his current situation? Does he have a support system in place? Did he have a plan when he was younger? Is he working towards something better? Is he disabled?

$1.19 is a terrible tip, but there’s other jobs out there.

It's a horrendous tip, especially after driving for an hour but WHY IN THE WORLD would an Uber Eats driver accept a delivery that's over an hour away????? I personally know friends and family that do it but never accept deliveries that are out of their way and only do short trips.

An HOUR? WTF? Sounds like a cold ass meal upon arrival

Speaking of tips, I always tip good or great, depending on how good the service was. I would NEVER EVER stiff a server that's busting their ass to make sure my order / experience / vibe is exceptional. I always get xtra shit, shoulder massages from female servers, etc. by simply giving a slight fuck about them.

Okay now from the customer side. I always have to make sure the driver leaves the food in the right spot after I cleary right down the instructions. Half of the drivers don't speak English well. And even though they have GPS I see them going er, which away to get to me. Sometimes five minutes away and they go through North Dakata to get to me.

I usually leave about 20%

Oh shit well then I'm going to stop giving the largest possible tips then, thinking that my shit would be delivered faster. It's on now! Tip these nuts.

Nope don't feel bad. My rule of thumb is: Don't work in an industry where your livelihood is dependent on tips.

My wife hates going out with me cause she know ain't really tippin shit. And if you're a male you're getting less than shit. Get yo ass in the plant somewhere

I hate to say it too. Grown man able body but not working in construction or something that pays way more?

Don’t do them like that homie. They still gotta eat lol

I understand that sentiment but can’t assume he’s able bodied because he can drive and walk short distances

You're right but not every dude is handicapped. When I see grown men working Mcdonald's or folding sandwiches at Arby's I always ask the same question - Why not get a Warehouse gig? Or Amazon, or construction? Plenty of places just want bodies (no degree or skills needed) and pay way more. Fuck if I'm going to be on the internet crying over tips.
