I might have missed it, but is the VA of the protagonist Black? The dialogue is cringy in the few clips that I've seen (makes sense if there were only white writers).
That final boss fight was terrible lol

This forspoken controversy reminds me of Ghostbusters 2016… I truly feel that people don’t won’t to complain cause the protagonist is a black woman.
