What about Will smith with After Earth that was Sci-Fi with a main black guy and it failed. Didnt he do Irobot too. And hancock. Will got the black sci-fi covered
after earth didn't fail it made a quarter of a billion dollars in the box office.

Man, damn you Blu. I sat here and said the same thing to my sister, got ready to type that shit out and you already did it, down to the exact same examples. You even one upped me by throwing in ADW.I've noticed that with a lot of the more recent Black shows.

They feel like every black show has to be dealing with problems or concerns of the black community as a whole.
Or they must have all the stereotypical tropes for it to work. Their creativity is limited for black people same reason why they can't invision us as super heroes or fantasy and sci-fi characters beyond the jive talking butt-kicking tough guy or girl.
It's not difficult to write positive black images you just need a good story to wrap them in.
I'm down with this. Let's do it. We got the whole year ahead to make it happen.
Let's just first start with the writing. The easiest and most important part.
But to me as an avid tv watcher and one time potential writer that is still a problem. We are always very narrow in what our definition of a 'black' show is and that it has to have a majority black cast instead of just maybe saying we have black voices we can acknowledge exist within the show. It is a lot about us deciding oh we have to fit into a certain block for the majority of people.

I understand what you're saying but that really doesn't apply to me as far as view of what Black people can do and be. The most important part is the story after the story then just add black faces to fill those roles is basically what I'm saying.

Maybe ask HNIC if he could open the writing forum back up and we can communicate with each other there?
free exchange of ideas concepts skills sets etc.
Bills essentially broke down the teams...
Still need the YouTube experts to give us the guidelines of creating a channel and potential advertising $$$ down the line. Just so we have that info available
Since http://www.bluntbit.com/ was launched I have kicked this idea around and as usual life gets in the way talk yourself out of things fear mistrust obligations etc...
I am personally guilty of this to capital offense levels.
but this something even if you can be there day to day I think just the encouragement the ideas and he support will motivate those who have the gift and just need the opportunity.
Look at how long its taken for Brother Shane's fundraiser to get up and running...
Like I said I can speak from experience...
potential can be a curse...when it is never fully realized.
I really think this this can be done...I have no IDEA exactly how but I I KNOW that is all there in front of us.
And the best part even if it only amuses no one else but US I think it will be well worth the effort.

It's not hard, there aren't a lot of non white writers hired in hollywood. The mainstream society wants shows that reinforce what they already believe. Using a mascot like Lee Daniels to say Empire is a black show is a deception, the writers room is not predominantly black. The writers room on Cosby and Different World were mostly white too.
Powerful white male executives aren't too keen on voices or ideas that aren't in cohesion with their own. Fresh off the boat is a funny show based on an Asian American's bestselling book but few of the writers are non white.
Black & Sexy TV, Issa Rae, etc are making and writing good shows from mostly non white perspectives that are growing online. Network TV doesn't have any incentive to hire or create more diversity ...they could survive if all non whites never watched any television
