Wow! MLB ain't the NFL, NBA, or CFB!

Man, I was watching baseball on BSPN, and I thought, since it was a slow Sunday, they were showing preseason baseball. After the commercial break, the announcer says, "Thank you for spending your opening day with us!", and I was like: "Opening day?!" Not only did I not know, I didn't even give a fuck, and judging by the lack of baseball opening day threads here, I'm not the only one.

we dont play it like we used to...

my kids dont have a griffey jr to be like
and they aint trying to be like no cacs name harper or trout

There are 162 games, they played themselves out. Opening day does not have the relevance that it used to because there are so many games. Most of the people I know that give a fuck work at Progressive Field.

Baseball was invented at a time when there was little else to do. Then comma in the late 50s early 60s they decided to increase the amount of games from 154 to 162, hence the asterisk on the homerun record that used to belong to Babe Ruth and Roger Maris broke. The only reason that the number of games hasn't been decreased is the revenue that the owners get from ticket sales, but what does it really matter when close to half of the seats are empty?

I used to be a bigger baseball fan, I don't have the time to watch much anymore

MLB is LONG HAUL @woodchuck

Give it a lil time, see what teams doing good, and then you'll see a thread pop up here or there.

But low key i will be watching that young cat we got on our Astros team (Carlos Correa)

Got him pegged as the next ARod...want to see what he does with a full season in the big leagues and if he continues to grow

Unfortunately people do care we, "black people" for the most part don't

I hate it cuz they talking RANGERS RANGERS RANGERS around this bitch

Can't even listen to the radio right about now

I don't care about none of that shit

Truth be told I wanted to go pirates opening day today. I can't imagine going the Astros opening day because the traffic and in the summer I avoid those games because it 100 degrees. I could stand going to a pirates games in summer sometimes you get a good 75 degree day and it's lovely.

I'll be at the Phillies game. So many new faces, these rookies are going to earn their boos.

Should Freddy galvis be booed?

i'm in for the full season.

since the brew crew won't be doing squat (rebuilding), i'll root for the cubs (beat the cardinals) and nationals (dusty).

They are running from black folks, they don't want black folks business anymore.

Anymore? They never really had black folks in mind. Heck, Hank Aaron never got the attention that he deserved until Bonds broke his record....

Anyhow, Turner Field was supposed to be built downton near the GA Dome...which kinda made perfect sense given the attractions and close proximity to the rail lines.

Mayor Maynard Jackson said no, build Turner Field where it is located now. Plus, MLB (partnerahips) could be involved in the process of improving the area surrounding Turner Field and getting inner city youth interested in baseball.

That did not go according to plans. Turner field does provide jobs for a lot of individuals in that area, but Maynard's vision never materialized.

Fast forward to the post Franklin and Reed's administration....the Braves seemed to get jealous of all of the extra attention that the Falcons were getting.

But they have a single owner who cares about his franchise.. Not an owership group who uses the organization as a write off. It is not the mayor's fault that they signed a "bad tv contract." Who cares? The mayor was like go ahead and move.

I hope that they never have an above .500 season again in Cobb.

Yep, it seem like once Ted Turner let it go that's when the team started to go downhill. I've been to a few games at Turner Field before, seem like a lot of rednecks was there, I didn't see many black folks. I think they are moving to accommodate the white folks in their backyard instead of them driving all the way downtown. It's bullshit though cause that team belongs downtown. Fuck em though.

I live in Lithonia, they got me FUCKED UP if they think I'm going all the way out to Cobb cloverleaf more than once a year, if I make it out there at all.
They should have kept it downtown; but they are building it right where 285 and 75 connect in cobb :angry:; I cant believe they approve this shit; traffic is going to be so bad; not only rush hour but when those day games happened :smh::smh:and watch property values in smyrna/vinnings start to drop after the stadium is done:smh::smh:; i use to love this area but with the stadium I might have to bounce....

They have the longest season, it typically takes longer to reach the big stage, and it's not necessarily a highlight filled sport, but when they make the show they make better money than all of the other pro sports. Peep this snippet:

Giancarlo Stanton just signed the biggest contract in sports history. The next 10 biggest contracts in sports history all went to baseball players. 29 baseball players have signed contracts worth more than Kobe Bryant’s deal with the Lakers, the largest among any of the three other major U.S. sports.

Elvis Andrus’ deal with the Rangers is bigger in terms of total value than the one LeBron James signed with the Heat. Peyton Manning has earned less money to date than what Joey Votto stands to make by the time he’s Manning’s age, and Votto — though he’s an excellent player — is just no Peyton Manning.

No baseball player is, really: By nature of his position and his sport, Manning impacts all his team’s games in a way the best MLB players never can. A position player typically gets only four or five plate appearances and a few defensive chances. A starting pitcher only works once out of every five games. Manning’s a factor in every one of the Broncos’ offensive plays. Same for LeBron James with the Cavs.

Of all the major sports, baseball has the most exciting post season.

And opening day is something you have to experience at the ballpark itself, not on TV.

Football, Soccer, and Basketball have WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better post seasons.

Hell, even Hockey is better. LOL

man property values in surrounding areas have already gone up :smh: the reason they moved is bc them season ticket holders and luxury suite buyers are from this end of 75, what's really fucked up is the people that used to work there won't be down for the commute so they fucked

Really fucked up that there is no marta train station that goes that way.

They're going to completely change the makeup of the staff of the Braves.

And I'm
Tomorrow is opening day at Turner Field. I can only speak for myself, but I give a fuck.
And I'm trying to go!

If I finish work in time I'ma head down there and hit up a scalper.

I always wanted to go with somebody that liked baseball enough to bring a glove and play catch while tailgating/pregaming. CACS be parlaying in that Gold Lot.

 the definition of a Fairweather fan

Sad baseball don't get that respect. We have Brandon Phillips and Billy Hamilton as bros. on our team but thats it

People can talk shit, but baseball is BORING as fuck. Americans say soccer is boring(they go by scores, not how many times teams came close to scoring), but baseball doesn't have nearly as much action as soccer. The game of baseball is gradually dying.

Baseball sports talk is even a slow season. Baseball still living off baby boomers.

truth be told they were low balling the hell outta the workers, so you're right, now they gotta up the wage and those faces are going to get a lot lighter in color

MLB money is long money garanteed every last dime

Yup this what I told my homie when we talking about his son and sports...

We was going back and forward, about basketball and football....five mintues into the convo I said, "all this we saying is good, but that baseball money is real bro"
