Would you pledge again?

Sounds real brokebackish to me homie.

Man I usually respect your posts... but man you generalizing a whole fraternity based on the few individuals on your campus. There are almost 200,000 Kappas in the world.

Now of course sonme cats join a fraternity that they see themselves fitting into based on stereotype. But trust you get out of any organiaztion what you put into it.

I am proud to be a Kappa Man, but it does not define who I am. I got some frat bruhs who I would not waste my spit on.... and I have others that I would die for.

I got FRIENDS who are QUES that I will lay down my life for ... and cats who did not pledge anything that I am very close to.

Make your own decisions based on what you desire.. just don't fall into the B.S. no matter what organization you are part of. Greek or NOT

Say that Nupe! I get tired of explaining this shit.... You are a man before you pledge and will be the same man when you cross over... Only now you have additional knowledge about specific situations and a common ground brotherhood to share it with..

Ever met guys coming back from Iraq? No matter what branch (Army, Navy, Air force, Marines, Coast Guard) of service, they have a common bond that none of us non battlefield Nicca's will ever have... Now that's brotherhood....

Also, when the shit goes down, I'm not gonna ask any brotha what side of the ass is he lookin at, just can he grab that gat, AIM AND HIT THAT!!

OUT of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

#1....With out question....oldest burh on my line was 43..
#1a..my neo was 47..going back to what the bruh said...it is never too late
#2 The frat is vast and deep but also small and intimate...Once the process begins...it must end at some time...As a bruh told me..."Pain is weakness leaving the body"....Pain reminds you that you are not dead yet"...."Pain reminds you to finish the job you started"....Pain is temporary......OMEGA IS FOR EVER !!!!!!!
#3...There are endless opportunity to meet and furthuer your gaols..I graduated from law school andwanted to get into the sports mangement business....I got contacts out the ass from the from other greeks that are helping me further my business.

YOU GET OUT OF IT WHAT YOU PUT IN IT !!!!!!!!!!
Not only would I do it again, I have done it three times already. A fourth time would be a piece of cake.

Perseverance is woven into the fabric of my entire being. Pledging help me to tap into an inner strength and call upon it when facing any obstacle. Further, working with total strangers and learning to love them like you are of the same blood is a priceless experience.

I am a strong believer that adversity shapes a man; it doesn’t have to be pledging but in order to truly ascend into manhood you have to face something in your life that makes you rise to the occasion.

During the time I was pledging it was always some external force trying to fugh it up. First time online for 3 weeks, a nicca snitched and fugh it up. The second time, online the entire semester and some misguided bruh halted the process at the end, but I did not sit down on them steps cause I found it kinda of hard. Roo. Eventually the stars aligned and I gained entry and if I had to do it a fourth time, so be it!

At my school these NY cats love the fraternity cuz I guess they feel like they need it to get ass, wearing bright ass air force ones the color of their fraternity and 101 fitted caps, and the south niggas are on gettin money and ridin candy  . You musta been at some off in the woods ass school

In the woods. Nope.
Far from it. Top 25 institution in the Upper Mid-Atlantic. Not an HBCU either.
When I say Southern, to me, anything below NJ is pretty much Southern since they identify more with and act more like Southern's as opposed to Northerns.

Oh, that shit too. Not that it broke me down, I just wasn't about that bullshit. If I wanted to join the Military I would have signed up for the Air Force or some shit.

But jumping up and down and acting the fool for some other dude 2 years older than me just so I can be apart of their 'club' ... negro please. Too much money and pussy out there in the world for me to get. I didn't need the cohesion to survive, I was cool w/everyone no matter race or color already.

#1. it ain't NEVER too late.
#2. the frat is BIGGER than a semester or two in college - well, at least it was for me. it's a LIFETIME commitment IMO to follow those principles.
#3. after college, the NETWORKING, etc. is an EASY way to experience the STRENGTH of knowing and being around positive, black men that want to help you succeed in your endeavors.

not only have i continued long-lasting relationships with frats all thru the country, but i've also networked and established business relationships with brothers from other frats.

for example, i just awarded a software consulting contract gig to a sigma with his own software company. i met him in philly about 4 yrs ago... he's put me on some good business deals, and i've returned the favor.

the Networking aspect is soooooooooooooooooo invaluable it ain't even funny. I became a Supervisor because of an AKA and I was promoted to a Manager by a gotdamn Zeta. say what you want but membership DOES have it's privledges.

the media and the bitch blunt do a LOT to destroy the image of black men in this country. fuck what you heard... there are LOTS of brothers out there doing their thing: establishing their own businesses, networks for helping each other, etc.

As I stated before, if you were made the right way you have love for your own and respect everybody else's. I learned a lot about myself cuz I was an out-of-towner NYC nigga down Souf that needed nobody but as it turns out pledging parallels life in so many ways and if football left out a value associated with teamwork the muthafuckin Frat picked it up and taught it to me. Didn't do it for bitches cuz I had my big booty RedBone already :D . I did it for me! If Black Men today took half of the initiative the Founders did back then for all the BGOL's, there'd be no stoping us. They stood for something and by ignorance we're (some of us) falling for anything. Fraternity life ain't for everybody and all it takes is a few jackasses to ruin the perception for those that are doing the right things!

looking back 12 years, ...HELL YEAH I'd "post up"again

In the blink of an eye....the way I got pledged is agaist the law now...but I'd do it again. The gains have be immeasurable.

Our line was dropped due to one pledge getting a busted eardrum with perminent hearing loss, I cant blame him for getting help but.......we were all hurting in some kind of way.

Anyway

I will finish my mission in Grad Chapter between now and 2011.

To this day I recite INVIC... to my self. In the fell clutch of cirumstance...

Hell yes, but it would have to be back in 86 when I did it the first time. Doing it now is taking your life in your hands. I wonder what I will say if my son wants to do it?

pledged in 1990, and would do it again. Groove Phi Groove for life!

It's also a great way to help younger brothers as they transition from scholastic life to business world.

It's all what you make it, like anything in life

Pledging is the most pointless shit on earth.... :smh:

what's the matter? you jealous? you mad? or is it just PURE ignorance and misunderstanding?

i'm sure gang-banging with the bloods or crips is relevant though, right? what about having kids to feed and spending $15G's on car rims?

to each his own, but you were born alone and you'll die alone. in this thing called, "life," some of us choose to NOT live selfishly.

hell no...

why? because there is no association back to the founding times...older frat don't associate and are actually ashamed! and there is a total fucking disconnect to service in ALL of greek life right now. you got these numskulls with a watered down disillusioned ideal of what being in a fraternity/sorority is supposed to be about. you got a very VERY slim graduate chapter conversion rate and on top of that....stepping has become way over commercialized thanks to MTV, the u.s. army (for sponsoring step correct) and other corporate interest.

i know 7 men who'd be turning in their fucking graves right now.... :(

Thanks Bro! I thought that was the appropriate response. I can't believe that fools think pledging is hard. The hard part is being a Bro. That applies to any fraternal organization. One good bro, or 10 so so Bro's. Give me the one any day.

Roo Roo, I'm OUT.

i can't speak for other frats, but with ours... THE PLEDGING BEGINS WHEN YOU'RE FINISHED PLEDGING.

m versus m. 'cause numbers don't mean shit.

Very true indeed.

It is quite evident when you meet a brother that is thouroughly immersed.

Are you making excuses or building bridges? The path of least resistance is an easy path to take but to facilitate change WE must build for those that have not even begun their journey. An excuse just builds a bridge to no where.

two of the easiest (worst) things to do in life:

1. not only take the path of least resistance but to seek it out relentlessly... avoiding confrontation and WORK at all costs. there are times when the path is appropriate; there are times when the work MUST be done.
2. living for self... saying "fuck the next nigra." :smh:

i bet some of you nigras "count food" at family reunions. :smh:

peace
Yup
Took us 2 and a half to get down and finally came through in Sp 90

Then We put our Philly/NY spin and swagg on up and down the east coast, all the way down to FAMU in 91 via sheer huslte and teamwork

Would do it again in 90, but not now - SEEN Alot of good kats get caught up in a fucked up system and way of thinking due to more current times but you take the good with the Bad

To The Stars, Kings!
Roo

peace
