Harold Washington was elected twice. He died while serving his second term. He was briefly succeeded by another Black man, Eugene Sawyer.
Detroit is 82.7% Black. Chicago is 32.9% Black. So your issue comparing Chicago's amount of Black mayors with Detroit is senseless.

I just told you what the current numbers are for both cities. Why forget about Detroit? You were the one making a comparison between the two cities and you lacked information about both how many Black mayors Chicago has had and how many terms were served. Don't deflect, brother.
Chicago did not produce any of those people you mentioned. None were born in Chicago and half of that group don't currently live in the state. All have done things we agree with, and done other things we disagree with. But who cares anyway? What is your overriding point in all this?
Sometimes it seems like you're on our side and I support the spirit of those threads you make. But lately, you've been on one. Man, you never struck me as an elitist. How does a pissing contest between cities or your bashing Chicago unify us as Black people? How does all this finger-wagging go towards advancing us towards social justice, equality and self-sufficiency as a People? What kind of question is, "Would you die for Obama?"
Who cares? The better question is, "What will we do with this life with which we've been gifted?"
We're all connected by a common heritage regardless of which city we live in, and we deal with common issues, and have a common enemy. Unity is what's needed, not this divisiveness. If you are truly dissatisfied with the way things are for us, then I would hope that wherever you are, you'd make the decision to be proactive and work to effect change for the better for our people .
