douglas was done...the count was way past 10 seconds...

im not jockin tyson...but tyson would of beat ali with the rush...

the fighters of ali's era.. werent rushers...they were stand still boxers...flatfooted punchers but danced while throwing jabs.....tyson lunged at oppenents his dance were lunging upercuts and hooks...

u sleepin on tys

I agree that Tyson was alot faster than people give him credit for, but Ali fought guys who were much better technically and tactically than Tyson. Like I said, you guys are thinking rope-a-dope era Ali, OLD Ali. I'm thinking of the guy who KO'ed Brian London with the fastest 11 punch combo I've ever seen a heavyweight throw. Tyson had no endurance, every guy that ever beat Tyson took him into the later rounds where Tyson couldn't hang. For Tyson to win he would have to immediately KO Ali because the deeper it went, the worse the ass-whuppin for Tyson. Tyson never had to face adversity against a strong opponent who wouldn't back down, everytime he did, he lost. Tyson never rose to the occasion against great fighters the way Ali did CONSTANTLY. I'm telling you go to my boxing thread and download Ali's early fights, the man was lightning, look at the short punch he KO'ed Liston with, when Liston was LUNGING forward.

As good as Tyson was during his era, at no point in the height of his career could he beat Ali...

Tyson is almost like a version of Joe Frazier: a bob-and-weave type guy who has power by bringing his whole body into his big punches (uppercuts, hooks) and "manufactures" speed by having his hands close to his face (shorter time to extend his fist). He doesn't move around and isn't noted for his jab, which Norton was partially noted for and Tyson doesn't have the defense that Norton has...

The two notable fighters that Tyson lost to (Holyfield and Lewis) had better boxing skills than Tyson and had a sustained jab, and had enough speed to nullify Tyson...

If you beat him to the punch and kept it in his face, then there's nothing Mike could do. Ali would've fought him like he fought Sonny Liston the first time...Just jab him until Mike gets discouraged...

This isn't a knock on Tyson, he is probably one of the most knowledgeable boxing historians out there (almost up there with Bert), but there's just some fighters he can't match up with in history. Ali is one of them...

ali didnt have the best defense either....tysons head movement is on point cus like cus d amato said...ali would have a hard time hitting tyson and not getting hit to win the fight

Ali didn't have defense????????/ I think it's time you assumed your place in this thread.....

Seems as if everybody is remembering Mike in his post jail era. Pre jail, he destroyed EVERYTHING. That's how I remember Mike, just like Ali was crazier before the government fucked him. Both in their prime, can't really say. I'll tell you this though, front row however much it would've cost I'm there

Mike did destroy everything, but who exactly did he destroy? Tony Tubbs? A 38 year old Holmes? Tony Tucker? Mike would not have been the same machine of destruction had he fought in the greatest era of heavyweights, the late 60's through the 70's. Mike beat up alot of tomato cans and club fighters. Mike was a bully who needed dudes to fear him, every dude that didn't fear him either beat him or buzzed him real good(Razor Ruddock).

one more thing...foreman was stronger in his older ages...he had more weight...he was just slower but if he hit u ...u were done...

theres 2 foremans... the young 1 and the hard hitter

never both at the same time...when foreman got that gut...thats when his power was untouchable

That ropa dopa shit would'nt work against Mike. Mike in his prime was the best. The people around him were the problem.

See what I mean? ALL of you Tyson supporters are thinking of Ali in his old-age. A prime Ali had no reason to rope-a-dope, it wasn't til he got OLD and lost his legs that he fought FOREMAN that way. Download the Ali/London fight, THAT Ali would not need no rope-a-dope to beat Tyson. Stop thinking of ALI as an old man, go to my page, download his "Cassius Clay" fights. The speed and power were amazing, if you guys didn't know Ali retired with the 3rd highest heavyweight KO percentage in history. Please don't say Tyson was the best, and it WASN'T the people around him, it's just that Mike is a fuckin idiot.

Tyson had good technique, speed and awesome power BUT
he was missing the most important thing, which Ali had in abundance
intelligence Ali would've played with Tyson, taken him into the deep rounds like everyone else who beat him(he was lacking endurance too), and Muhammad would've kayoed his azz like in the 11th imo. I feel cats when they say Tyson had power, but so did Foreman, Frazier, Norton, Shavers,, Liston and Quarry, and Ali beat them all. And he beat most of those guys when he was past his prime. Unless he landed a lucky punch, like Ali stepping into one, he'd lose.:smh::smh::smh::smh::smh::smh:

Co sign excellent analysis:yes:

MAN!!! they used to go 15 rounds tyson used to be tired in the 3rd get the fuck outta here foreman would have owned tyson let alone liston, frazier, etc...

Ali was a warrior who would have been able to take Tyson's best shots. It would be a hell of fight but Ali would have outsmarted Tyson just like he did Foreman.
