Director of Event Marketing - American Airlines Center (Dallas, Texas)



Responsible for administration and direction of the marketing, promotion, advertising and public relations activities associated with events and other similar business at American Airlines center and other venues as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, other duties may be assigned:
Plans and executes detailed marketing, campaigns for events and other functions held at assigned venues that maximize attendance and related revenue generation;
Manages all aspects of advertising and media campaigns to include cash allocation; trade media allocation and conversion, website, marquee and building signage content development and placement;
Works with executive team on marketing initiatives related to various AAC and facility services and activities including premium seating, sponsorships, community outreach and branding;
Develops and executes promotions for third-party and in-house events; utilizes media, sponsor and industry contacts to maximize effectiveness of promotions;
Develops and implements public relations for the American Airlines Center, Center Operating Company, Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars and ensures these entities are presented in a positive and community minded manner;
Responsible for AAC website including vendor selection and contract administration;
Oversees design, data and graphic content to insure maximum exposure, promotion and sell through of AAC events, premium seating, sponsorships and ancillary revenue generators;
Maintains active participation in industry marketing organizations including Arena Marketing Committee, Arena Network and other relevant entities that provide access to current industry trends and innovations;
Oversees group sales functions including: contract negotiation and deal terms, sales forecast and expense budget, sales campaign development, implementation and post event settlement;
Works with Premium Services/Sales and Teams(Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars) to develop promotions and related events that generate suite, platinum and season ticket sales;
Manages the relationship with the local advertising agencies to determine branding messages for ad campaigns, fan guides, venue maps and other non-event related projects;
Collaborates with Human Resources on DISD Internship Programs and directs and develops curriculum for interns interested in the marketing field;
Oversees College Internship Program for students interested in the marketing field, determines candidate selection and develops curriculum and projects/duties assigned;
Serves as primary media contact for the Center and all third party events, determines interviews, key message points and works with local agency to determine action plans during crisis management or any other high profile type event/occurrence;

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises two employees in the Event Marketing department (Public Relations Marketing Manager and Group Marketing Manager). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee should also have the following qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations;
Minimum of four to five years experience in marketing/promotions;
Work related experience in the entertainment industry; i.e. television/media, radio, etc.;
Solid knowledge of market and media buying, planning is a must,
Three to four years of supervisory experience required;
Concert Industry knowledge/background preferred

Physical Demands:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time, talk or hear, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms;
Ability to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds;
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, during events, the noise level may be loud.
Flexibility to work long and irregular hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
