Media Relations Graduate Assistant - New York Jets (Hempstead, NY)


Reports To: Director of Media Relations
Overview: A graduate assistant in the New York Jets Media Relations Department is a key member of the media relations staff. Our goal is to provide you with on-the-job training, real-life work experiences and a hands-on knowledge of every aspect of what is required to work in the NFL, in a major market, in media relations. This graduate assistantship could be the last step in your sports public relations training. We are looking for qualified individuals who have proven themselves at the college level or have excelled in similar positions in the NFL or in other major sports

Duties: The graduate assistant of media relations will be responsible for a variety of duties, including…

daily clips
setting up player interviews
editing transcripts
fill photo requests
writing press releases
monitoring press conferences and interviews
supervising game-day staff
pivotal game-day responsibilities at home and when team is on the road
press box setup
working on weekly release
talking to media members on a daily basis
writing and editing for the media guide
escorting media at practice
updating statistics
opening mail
special projects
Qualifications:

bachelors degree in journalism or related field preferred
sports public relations experience necessary
Timetable:

Preliminary interviews to be held in March and early April.
Final round of interviews will take place on the weekend of the NFL Draft.
The approximate start date will be in the month of June.
The approximate end date is in the month of February.
