Community Relations Director - New Orleans Saints (New Orleans, LA)
Department: Community Relations
Reports to: VP Marketing and Business Development
Overall Responsibility: Administration, development, and promotion of community relations and youth programs; develops, coordinates and implements community outreach and relations efforts.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities: • Community event planning and execution. • Supervise Community Relations staff. • Strategic planning to coordinate community relations initiatives with team’s strategic goals. • Represent the club at various civic and community events and/or boards. • Monitoring team donations and processing donation requests. • Monitoring and updating community event calendar. • Assists in team participation with player foundations and lends support for their grant requests. • Establish and maintain budget for Community Relations Department. • Synchronize website and public relations management to ensure the communication of Saints activities to the community.
Skills and Attributes: • Must be mature, responsible, innovative and able to work well independently while providing consistent updates to senior management and requires a great deal of responsibility. • Exceptional organizational ability, good judgment and initiative are extremely important. • Must possess above-average oral and written communication skills. • Ability to supervise and appropriately delegate tasks to staff. • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook • The successful candidate will be adaptable, versatile and tactful in dealings with the public, partners, players and staff.
Experience Requirement: Five (5) years of professional related experience in community relations, event coordination and/or institutional fundraising. Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience grant writing and the ability to make persuasive public presentations preferred. Four year college degree (minimum) required.
Hours: Full-time, travel and some weekend responsibilities.
